Well all u people complaining well yall have a right to for 1 all the product is frozen expect cream puffs eclairs and dobasch everything else stays frozen for a while to the point where u gotta chip off old built up icing with a knife, I know I use to work there. Im just saying why the cakes dont taste good and thats why and the main reason I really hate going there is the manager i think her name is sue shes and old lady with red hair wow can i say the rudest person i've ever come across i like the bakery down the street just saying throwing in some advice more

Every year, for 50 years, my birthday has been celebrated with a cake from Baum's. Yellow cake, pineapple filling with buttercream icing. Yummy!! more

Get your cake somewhere else! 3/27/2012

Called Baum's today to order an Angry Bird birthday cake. Lady on the line says she does not know what Angry Birds are. She does not get someone at the bakery that does. My 80 year old father knows what Angry Birds are. Very rude and unprofessional to not at least try to take my order. Found the cake I need on Ambrosias website. more

Worst Birthday Cake Ever!!! 6/9/2011

I ordered a cake in the shape of a bowling pin for my niece's birthday party. It cost $50 and it looked terrible. When I picked up the cake right before the party, the girl showed it to me and I just glanced at it and said ok. When I arrived at the party I realized how terrible it looked. I made sure to take pictures before we did anything to the cake. I called the following week to inform them of the cake and send pictures (because I thought when they saw the cake they would realize how bad it looked), the manager Suzanne said that she didnt' think the cake looked that bad. She said that I should have said something when I picked it up and they would have fixed it. I do not believe the cake could have been fixed in the amount of time that I had for the party. She got very rude and said ""What do you want, me to refund you thte whole amount?"" I said no but an apology and an offer of maybe $10 off my next cake would have been nice. Only then did she say well I was going to offer that to you. I told her that I didn't want anything because I would never step foot in Baum's again. Note to Baums' management: When a customer calls in to complain the 1st thing you should say is "" I am sorry you were unhappy with your order."" That statement would have completely changed the outcome of this incident. more

TERRIBLE WEDDING CAKE!!!! 4/26/2011

I ordered my wedding cake from Baum's and met with them twice to go over exactly what I wanted and then confirmed over the phone exactly what I expected. I even provided a picture. I bought special ribbon (that they instructed me to buy) that matched my bridesmaids dresses EXACTLY to place on the cake. I paid for edible pearls to be placed on all three tiers, with specific instructions for NO BUTTERCREAM PEARLS. I asked that there be no scalloped icing on the bottom of the tiers. They did not use my ribbon, they made a messy purple icing ribbon around the cake that made the cake look like it was crooked. They put buttercream pearls with VERY few real edible pearls. There was scalloped icing along the bottom of the cake. Also, I paid an extra $60 to have them do a buttercream water smoothing technique that the lady raved about that makes the buttercream as smooth as fondant with no ripples. The icing looked like my 3 year old niece slapped it on there at the last minute. I nearly burst into tears when I walked into my fairytale reception to see that mess of a cake. Unless you're prepared to cry at your wedding over the cake, I suggest you go with someone else. When I pay THAT much for a cake... I expect it to be what I ordered. more

T Simmons (white almond w butter crm icing & bavarian crm filling the best) 8/31/2010

I cannot believe that anyone would be dissatified with these cakes. This is the absolute best taste ever! and in regards to cake not ready and/or no record of it, where was her copy of the reciept where she paid? I always keep proof of payment with everything that i buy, people make mistakes...but the cakes are the best! more

Horrific!!! 12/5/2009

I will never order anything from Baum's again. I recently wasted $40 on a 1/4 sheet cake that looked like it was decorated by a 3 year old. I sent the cake back twice and it still looked horrible. I had to purchase the cake because I needed it for the next morning. The staff acted like they could care less and the manager was rude. They ruined my event and it is the last time they will get a penny from me!!! Buyer beware! Cons: Decorators, staff more

NO CAKE 5/28/2008

I pre-ordered a specially made cream cheese cake for my brother-in-law's birthday 24 hours in advance and paid in full for it. Went to pick it up on my way to his birthday and they did not have it, showed NO RECORD of it. The "Manager" was not nice and told me that she couldn't find it. Then some other lady from the back who had no business with me came up front and was rude to ME because they didn't have my cake. I will never order another cake from them again. Don't understand how you can loose someones order (it was even paid for before i went to pick i up b/c it was special ordered). I asked the manager what the owners name was so i could call her the next day.... but she said they don't give out the owners name- found that odd. So I left a message with the manager for the owner to call me, and I never heard back! Bad service all around! more

Great Cakes!! 12/20/2006

This is the only place I will buy a cake, they are the best!! I love the almond cake (silver) with butter cream icing. I have tried numerous bakeries and none come close to the consistent quality of this bakery. more

Yummy! 11/6/2005

Baums Fine Pastries makes some of the best desserts I've ever had. I always get my grandkid's birthday cakes and some of our king cakes there. The previous reviewer said the king cakes were bad, and I disagree. My family all enjoys them, I guess it's a matter of personal taste. It is fairly expensive, but the quality is worth it. PROS: Delicious, great quality CONS: none more

If you are looking for a rich buttercreme cake this is your place! 4/8/2005

This is the only bakery my mother uses for birthday cakes because of it's buttercreme icing and filling. I think their red velvet cake and swiss chocolate cake are my favorites! The only reason I gave them less than 5 stars is because of their king cakes. I personally think they are very dry and even those with filling are sparse and overpriced. Just don't plan on buying a king cake here and I think anything else you get will be just fine! They also have a wonderful chocolate shop and a second bakery location on Perkins Road. more

beautiful & Delicious! 7/22/2002

Upscale pastry shop -- worth the trip--best Buttercream Icing I have ever tasted!! Has Southern favorites of Dobasch cakes & Petit fours that are as beautiful as they are delicious! I definitely load up when passing thru town. I have traveled a lot and haven't come across a bakery like this ever. Their line of cakes and pastries, especially french, are immense and guaranteed mouth-watering DEEElicious! Don't miss out a real treat when visiting. Has Pralines, southern favorite, too! Pros: huge selection, Inexpensive for quali, High Quality Baking Cons: parking cramped, crowded at times, just one location more
