I should start by telling you that I'm the kind of guy that does hours of research before I buy a $100 toaster, I spent days reading up on furniture quality and things to look for. After much deliberation and lots of saving, my wife and I made the decision to purchase a new couch for our family room. Like everyone else in Raleigh, we drove up and down Glenwood going into all of the quality furniture stores (not Rooms To Go or Room Store). Our last stop was Bassett and we quickly noticed that it was unlike the others. Patricia (Pat) Green immediately showed us exactly what we wanted, it was custom. When she said ""custom"" I heard ""expensive"" and was immediately against it. When my wife found out how reasonable the price was she got quotes on a pair of chairs too (also custom). Pat couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. She was respectful of our budget and was never pushy. Pat ended up coming over to our house, measuring and bringing lots of fabric samples to match our carpet, shades and walls. We got lucky and ordered when they were offering 30% off. The furniture was made in NC and then delivered to us in about 30 days. We've had it for about two months now and couldn't be happier with our purchase. It's obviously well made and will last for a long time. I rarely write reviews, but our entire experience went so smooth and pain-free that I wanted to recommend both Pat Green and Bassett. more

Customer Service at it's finest!!! We went here hoping to find some affordable quality furniture. We received excellent service and made our selections. All was just as we hoped. But when our furniture arrived and we weren't satisfied, the customer service got even better -- WOW! The manager, Grant, was attentive, professional and willing to do whatever he could to help us have the right furniture for our home. We are happy customers and would suggest that if you are in the market for any furniture or bedding for your home, GO HERE FIRST! You will be glad you did. Thank you Basset of Raleigh -- well done! more

Excellent Customer service 7/25/2011

After reading some of the negative reviews, I was a little hesitant to even go by this store. But I am so glad I did. What my husband and I found was a beautiful showroom, wonderful sales representative (yay, David!), skilled decorators (thanks, Donna) and exceptional management (great job, Grant). Bassett offers free interior design services and provided a perfect furniture layout for our difficult space. We received exactly what we ordered when they said we would and we love it! We highly recommend giving this store your business. more

I have never written a negative review before, but I needed to warn people to stay away from this store!!! I purchased furniture, and after being charged in full and told to expect my furniture in 3-4 weeks, I had to track down customer service after 8 weeks, only to find out that they could not get the items! They then offered me store credit instead of a refund! I had to insist on a refund, as their customer service told me there was no way to know that they couldnt get the furniture - so it wasnt their fault! Stay away from this store! Cons: Terrible customer service! more

We bought a couch in Bassett about 5 years ago, the fabric came undone. After 4 months of fighting, endless lies from the ""Customer Service Manager"" and 3 repairs they replaced the couch. We never should have gone back, but we did. I bought new bedroom furniture in Jan. It arrived 6 weeks later dirty and damaged. We called our salesperson, he assured us it would be taken care of, just accept delivery. HUGE MISTAKE!! The repair tech informed us that they would not replace the furniture even if it was in pieces, they repair everything. They wanted to come into my brand new home with equipment and repair my very expensive furniture. I called Peter Davis and told him I wanted new furniture and he said they would repair it only. I told him if they were going to repair it, they needed to discount they price. Not 1st quality=discount. He informed me he wouldn't do anything else. Mr Davis was rude, and is a poor excuse for a customer service manager. Buyer beware, don't end up with expensive furniture damaged or full of wood filler. Horrible 1/8/2009

I thought it was only the Bassett In Louisville KY. This store is horrible as well. I have a horribly made 3k piece of garbage couch. I called a week after I had it and they dont care. My couch has horrible wrinkles in the fabric and it started from week one. I called to tell them about it and they dont care, The customer service people are horrible and the store manager says he has nothing to do with this issue?! Your the manager of the store how does this issue not matter to you? They dont care as a matter of fact with the Better Business gave them a D rating! They RIP YOU OFF. Shady dealings, poor service, AVOID! 12/1/2008

I cannot emphasize this enough: AVOID this furniture store!!!!!! To begin with, the salespeople are greedy and pushy. In addition, they have no idea of specials that are going on. I was in there with my husband and saw a sign that said, ""no interest for 36 months."" However, when I brought this up, our salesperson said there was no such offer. When we showed her the sign, she had to speak to someone to find out if it was true. It was, but then things went downhill. This store plays awful pricing games--buy now because the sale ends tomorrow, the prices are going up in 2 weeks, etc. We heard it all. Then they offered us a deeply discounted price to get us to sign the paperwork, but then re-nigged at the last minute. Needless to say, we cancelled the order. I've also heard horror stories that the company takes WAY TOO long to get your furniture (up to several months after the order is placed) and that the pieces arrive defective but they will not replace them, only repair them (which depreciates the value of the pieces). I cannot emphasize this enough: AVOID this store!!!!!!!!!! Pros: Bassett furniture is nice but this store is NOT Cons: shady salespeople, pushy salespeople more

Hurry up and WAIT, buyer beware 8/25/2008

Once again, after a horrible first experience, I figured I would try Bassett again. Have to admit, they make beautiful stuff but you did get sucked in by the salespeople assuring you that everything has ben changed and there would be no problems....WRONG!!!! After getting only half the order, which I had to pick up instead of having delivered because of poor delivery schedules, I still have not gotten the rest of the order. What a joke this is. I paid over $7,000 using their ""6 months same as cash"" policy and I still have to pay even though I don't have all the furniture. Plus, I have not even been able to get my delivery charge of $90.00 refunded yet. It has officially been 11 weeks, after being told 4 weeks, and I still keep being told that it will be one or two more weeks for the rest of the furniture. Do they have to personally go out and saw down the trees to make this stuff or what.? I have to admit that the customer service has improved a little bit, but the delivery stinks and the people working at the delivery warehouse are very rude...they act as if you are putting them out because you are picking up the furniture. Hello, I pay your salary by buying your stuff that never comes in on time. My best advice...if you can wait for it, the furniture is very nice and does carry that ""Bassett"" name but if you cannot wait, you are so out of luck. File a complaint with the &&&, that is the only way you will get any kind of resolution. Try Haverty's or Home Comfort, they have comparable furniture and are way better on customer service and top of the line when it comes to delivery. Buyer beware. Do not buy from this company! This has been my worst expierence ever. Decided to buy from Bassett in hopes to get good quality furniture even with paying high cost to get furniture to last more than 5 years. SERVICE WAS HORRIBLE! I purchased a floor model leather sectional marked ""as is"" Not a problem with me as it appeard to be in good working order. One end of the couch had a recliner that was tied shut on the show room floor. We asked the sales person (who did not even know that it was a recliner) why it was tied up. She informed us that it was tied shut due to being on the show room floor. We were fine with that and also purchased an area rug. Delivery was set up , I never received a phone call the night before for the delivery time. I called to find out that computer systems were down and my delivery was not on their list for the next day. After many phone calls to stores and managers I did receive a call in the morning that I would be on the delivery route. My couch arrived on time as promised and the delivery men were very kind and wonderful. That is the only good expierence out of my purchase. Once the couch was in and set up, the delivery guys cut off the ropes to the recliner and watched it flop out. To our surprise it was completly broken!! The delivery guys did try to fix and informed us they would set up for service to come out and fix. To make a long story short, they refused to fix it stating that we bought the couch marked ""as is"" and we would need to pay $500 to have it fixed. Then proceeded to call us liars and that we are trying to pull a scam on them to get it fixed. The sales lady, when we confronted her stated that if she knew the recliner was important to us she would have looked into it more. Then proceeded to tell her mananger that she did inform us that it was broke. When we opted to return all products (we still havn't received the rug), all returns were refused. Horrible, company and do not do business with them! more
