My brother was in town and this is one of his favorite restaurants. He paid $200 for the Waygu Beef Steak which he said was like butter so of course he would be impressed. I had h...

Don't eat here! 8/2/2007

We made reservations for my 50th birthday, anticipating that we would be experiencing a one of a kind evening and were sorely disappointed! The servers were attentive, but other than the presentation, the food was humdrum and not much different that what you'd find at your local Chili's or TGIF's and at outrageous prices. Pros: presentation Cons: food was mediocre and over priced more

Mickey comes to South Beach 7/14/2007

Suburbanites, teenagers, tourists will be impressed. Great place to take your teenagers for their birthday. If you are looking for an actual South Beach restaurant experience, with an adult sophisticated crowd, avoid. The atmosphere and approach is so gimmicky, the wait staff nice but inexperienced. The food was tasty, but pedestrian. One thing that was unbelievably annoying: my wife simply asked for a substitution on the bbq ribs: she wanted cauliflower mash (which is on the menu with another item) instead of new potatoes. The waiter simply said, ""no, we don't do that"", and refused to do the substitution. ""It would ruin the presentation"". Ridiculous! We are talking bbq ribs for crying out loud. We live in San Francisco, eat at the nicest restaurants in that city, and in others, and there is one answer for that request: of course! These people need to read Danny Meyers book. Danny owns I think 13 restaurants in Manhattan, and understands customer service and hospitality. ""Setting the Table: The Transforming Power of Hospitality in Business"". Everybody who works at Barton G should read this book. By the way, if you ever go to Manhattan, go to any of Danny's restaurants... Union Square Cafe, Grammercy Tavern, Blue... among others. Barton G's would be a great Disney World restaurant. It belongs in Orlando, amongst the King Kong billboards, not in SOBE. more

Great Meal...better for 4 + and don't forget your Gold card! 6/24/2007

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Barton G. recently. We were promptly seated and greeted immediately by our waitress Bronwyn. Without taking a breath, Bronwyn went down the list of specials and seemed to be very knowledgeable about the dinner and wine menus. Her suggestions were dead-on for the most part. We really enjoy our drinks (sinsation & pinot noir), meal (surf and turf - 2lb lobster with steak), and dessert (nak-d alaska - ice pops with merengue with assorted toppings and a fire). We were stuffed! Pros: Great presentation. Knowledgeable waitress. Great for parties 4 + Cons: Dessert not couple more

Arrogant attitude 5/10/2007

I had the opportunity to dine at Barton G in Miami recently while in town to attend my son's wedding. I went on a Tuesday evening and dined under a covered patio where I enjoyed a wonderful meal and a magical dinner presentation. more

Avoid it if you can 5/6/2007

From the moment you walk in you feel the disdain and demeaning attitudes, everything is an optical illusion, eat the plate gimmicks not the food, for the price Checkers is a better deal. more

Great Place for a Special Occasion 4/16/2007

Just took my little one there for her 4th birthday and it will be one she?ll always remember. The service was fantastic; everyone made sure that she felt like a princess, the waiter (Nicolas) went above and beyond. The food was great, highlighted by the 2lb rock lobster tail, which is more than enough for two big eaters. The host recommended the chocolate fountain for dessert, my daughter almost jumped out of her seat when they brought it out. Although pricey ($90) it was bigger than what I have see at some weddings! It served 7 people for dessert and a ton of fruit, cake, etc was still left over. Barton G?s defiantely makes for memorable events. Pros: Service, Presentation more

Perhaps the best meal i've ever tasted 3/19/2007

I went to Barton G with friends while on vacation. We were a party of 8 and our reservations were immediately accomodated. The waittress was extremely pretty and completey attentive to our needs. We had amazing wine, and the below-zero nitro bar drinks were SPECTACULAR! My favorite was the rose tasting one, forgot the name. I had the pork-chops, which were undoubtedly the BEST chops i've ever had, if you can call it a chop. My friends had a variety of things - all of which were spectacular-tasting (except the filet mignon, it was just OK). Pros: Services, DRINKS, Valet Parking more

Worth every penny!!! 1/5/2007

Yes this restaurant is pricy, but it was worth every penny. Food was delicious, service was great, food presentation was exceptional, atmosphere romantic and relaxing(ask to be seated in the garden), and the dessert was priceless...I highly recommend the cheesecake with the cheesecake lollipops. If you're tired of the same old boring high class restaurants with no style you must go and check out Barton G's. They make food fun!!! This restaurant is definately a great place to impress a date. I'm definately going back!!! Pros: Excellent food and presentation. Cons: Wallet Buster more

Unfriendly and unreliable service that doesn't seem to care about its customers. 12/31/2006

We had reservations at Barton G's for a special ocassion dinner. We confirmed the reservation twice, including once on the day of the dinner. We were actually looking for an earlier time -- and as per the restaurant's suggestion, we arrived earlier. Pros: Presentation Cons: Service more

A Special Place 12/21/2006

I have been to this restaurant twice and both times I enjoyed my self immensley. The service is excellant and attentive and the food and presentation are out of this world. Try the voodoo shrimp appetizer, which comes out steaming. Also, make sure you save room for the desserts, which are delicious and entertaining. My only gripe with this place is how difficult it is to get a reservation. I called three weeks before my birthday and had only two options for reservations: 6:00 or 10:45, but it's not surprising that it's hard to get in here. Pros: Food, Service, Presentation Cons: Parking, Ability to Get a Reservation more

Avoid Barton G 8/25/2006

Barton G is known for the presentations, which are nice, but the food is not even ok. Pros: presentation Cons: ambiance service food more

Something off the beaten path 4/29/2006

This little gem is away from the hustle and bustle of most restaurants, but it's better than almost of them. A secluded restaurant with a great ambiance and spectacular food. Service was good, with the main drawback being that it is somewhat overpriced. Great place for a small group or special occasion. Pros: Great food, Ambiance, Awesome Deserts Cons: Price, Price, Price more

Over-The-top, one-of-a-kind experience 2/4/2006

Had dinner last night @ Barton G The Restaurant to celebrate a very special occasion. I don't know where to begin... I've traveled the world, and yet to see such unique presentations. But wait, there is more. The presentations are backed-up by top-quality food, worthy of a world-class restaurant. Who would of thought such a combination would exist in the trendy come and go Miami Beach scene. The finale is the absolutely beautiful atmosphere and elegant but not pompous service. A must-go when visiting South Beach. Pros: Presentation, Food Quality, Service more

hands down best restaurant 1/26/2006

i've been to barton g a few times and I have never been let down. The food is FANTASTIC. The tuna tartare is amazing and the desserts are beyond words. This place is literally like Dr.Suess for adults. There is no better place to have a special dinner in Miami. I dine out in nice places a lot and this place is an experience. No one I've ever sent there had a single bad thing to say. Pros: romantic setting , presentation, great bar Cons: $$ drinks more

Wow! 12/29/2005

We celebrated a friends birthday at Barton G and let me tell you we were highly impressed. We sat in the garden(which is a must). The food was a sight of delight! The presentation was the most creative I had ever seen. We had the Voo Doo shrimp which was great! We had the Lobster Pop Tarts which was fabulous! We finished off our meal with a fabulous Chocolate Fountain Dessert! The service was very good. Not the typical South Beach attitude, which was refreshing! A GREAT place to bring out of town visitors! more

The best meal of my life! 12/5/2005

Although it was one of the most expensive meals we've ever had, it was well worth it! We were on vacation and met up with friends. The service was incredible-our waiter was charming, funny and attentive. The food was outstanding. Everything was exciting to see and delicious to taste. The duck was tender and sweet, the french fry sampler was great too. The pork with apple donuts was superb. Desserts are enormous so save room and share. I've reccommended this place to everyone I know visiting Miami and no one has been disappointed. I cant wait to go back there. Pros: food, service Cons: price more

Fabulous and Amazing! 9/20/2005

Dined with friends for a special dinner, and what a treat! Visually the restaurant is a treat for the eyes; the service was exemplary and flawless. The food and presentation is a multi-sensory experience. Highly recommended night out for either a group of friends; or a romantic dinner in their lovely Orchid Garden. Wonderfully creative cocktails at the beautiful onyx bar, and don't forget to leave room for the impressive and delicious desserts. Pros: Fine Dining, Beautiful Atmosphere, Great Service more

Looked promising, but fell WAY short! 5/8/2005

We arrived on time and were asked to wait 10 minutes. After 20 minutes someone came out to us and ask if we needed help. I started getting a little annoyed. I told him we were asked to wait a few minutes for a table. He left and came back 5 minutes later to tell us he wasn't sure how long the wait will be, maybe 15 minutes, maybe a 1/2 hour. Of course at this point we were livid. We spoke with the first host and he told us he couldn't do anything about it. We left and they really didn't care. Restaurant can't handle their reservations. It worked out for the best. They seemed to cater to much older Don Johnson wannabees. Even the men had see through clothes. Sorry don't want to see grandpa in sheer pajamas! more

Cons: Reservation a must. more

Little overpriced but good experience 2/22/2005

Had dinner in Feb, 2005. Great food (chicken skewers are disapointing though), great service, great ambience (ask for a table in the garden) ... a little bit overpriced though. more
