I have to agree with the other negative reviews. Customer service is nonexistent, from the clerks all the way to the owner, Anna. I stored 2 coats there because I had seen they were in business for such a long time, thinking that I would support a small business rather than taking the coats to a luxury department store. I had previously had a very bad experience with one of my minks getting stolen by Howard Bresnick at the Chicago Fur Outlet/ The Furry Godmother in Lincoln Park; I was thrilled to find a business that I thought I could trust in Barth Wind Furs. I stored the coats in May 2014 and just picked them up on Nov 22, 2014. \r \r I had tried calling to see if they had changed the hooks on my long mink coat and to see what the charges would be. After being dodged by Anna for 3 days in a row, I finally just went to the shop in Morton Grove to just get my coats. Of course, needless to say, the hooks were not changed. I was very angry, but decided to just take my business elsewhere. So today, Nov 24, 2014 I took my long mink to Macy's at Water Tower Place to get the hooks changed. Lo and behold, I was told by the manager who was inspecting my coat that the coat had never been cleaned! (the lining still had salt stains on it, the lining was all wrinkled, both of which should not have been the case if it was actually cleaned.) I was mortified! So of course, I called Anna and requested my money back. I paid $75 for each coat to be cleaned, glazed and stored. She started yelling at me! Imagine!! She was the one at fault, I was out the money, and she had the nerve to be condescending and NASTY. \r \r I called Macy's to get their professional opinion in writing, which I will then submit to the BBB and to Anna so that I can get my money back. She just lost a customer for life. Had everything gone properly there, I would have considered purchasing my next fun fur from Barth Wind, but there is no way I will EVER do business with them again. I strongly suggest that you heed the reviews shown here and on Yelp regarding this terrible business. Go to Macy's or Bloomingdale's instead. more

Bad Practices! Never go there 3/4/2010

My mother called Barth Wind Furs to tell them she was in the hospital/then nursing home and could not pick up her furs from storage. This was in January. The fur contract expired in February. I went to pick up the coats and they wanted to charge me an additonal $195 to pay for the coats. So we had to pay another years worth. I told the owner that I would pay for February (that we were one month late - but she would not budge and I had to pay for the additonal year. I have to admit I went crazy in the store. Very bad practice. DO NOT GO THERE! THEY ARE THE BIGGEST RIPOFFS AND TOOK ADVANTAGE OF A SR. CITIZEN! BAD BAD. Cons: Took advantage of a sr. citizen and no empthay. more

Worst customer Service EVER 5/12/2009

And that is a star too many. Owner is self-righteous and has NO problem overcharging you. Employees need serious customer service training, and will NOT tell you of special deals they are running. They charged me $200 for a service they offered for $65 ten days later (cleaning, glazing and storing). I paid $120 for the cleaning and then $80 for the storage. Nobody in that store had ANY scruples to overcharge me by at LEAST $80 by not telling me my options ("We don't push service on customers" was her justification, what a bunch of nonsense, you are in the BUSINESS of pushing things on people!!!!). I wonder if they can sleep at night, I couldn't. Pros: none Cons: how much time you got??? more

Sizes range from petite to extra plus for men, women and children. We specialize in custom designs – fashioning unique creations for every whim and fancy. In addition, we can create fashion makeovers for your older or inherited garments. Home furnishings such as pillows and throws, accessories and novelty items, such as teddy bears and doll coats can also be found in our salons. Other services include storage, cleaning, reconditioning, repair, appraisals, shearing and dying.
