Great burger! 5/25/2011

Let me tell you. I'm not the guy that goes for things with the word gourmet in them, but this place has really good burgers. I came in for the first time when a friend visiting from Ohio wanted to go. I got the burger with barbecue sauce and bacon on it. It was done right, juicy and the bacon wasn't too soft. I'd eat here again. more

If you?re hungry then this is the place you need to be! 2/1/2011

They have a great menu; the barneys turkey and barneys classic burger and spinach salad are my favorite. My wife loves the north beach tofu, says it?s the best she?s ever had. If you still have room for desert I record the turkish coffee milk shake ? believe me its good! Big portions but that?s always good so you have some to take home for that late night snack! The place is very well decorated and highly recommended! more

Delish but Dirty 7/23/2010

Okay, so don't go to the bathroom or near the kitchen cause you'll be grossed out. However, the food is great - especially the onion rings! But you've got to eat them HOT or the oil solidifies .. and don't even think about taking 'em home and using the microwave on them - it just doesn't work! Nice staff and cute interior. Lots of kids so it's noisy! My fav? The California Burger. Save up for the price, but it's worth it! Pros: Yummie Cons: Dirty Kitchen and a little expensive more

Good food, HORRIBLY rude and OBNOXIOUS service! 5/10/2007

I've been going to Barney's for years. The service was uneven but the burgers were good and I continued to be a customer, until this week! when paying the cashier for my meal, i discovered i put my money in the leatherette binder, but left the paying receipt at my table. leaving for only a minute to retrive my check, i left my sunglasses and a take home order on the counter, in front of the cashier. upon my return, i discovered that the bag containing my 85 year old Mother's burger and order of fries had been picked up, either by mistake, or had been taken by someone intentionally. I was told, it was ""not their responsibilty to ""guard my food"", and they had ""saved my sunglasses"". I was told that it was too bad, but they were not going to replace the ""lost"" food. They were so callous and so inconsiderate, I was amazed. Obviously I found this to be rude, obnoxious, and totally lacking in customer service and told them so. Only after a very unpleasant exchange, with diners and others comiserating with me, did they agree to prepare a replacement burger and fries.. I am still shaking my head in disbelief 3 days after this experience. I called to speak to the Owner before posting this, but did not get the courtesy of a response. I shall NOT be going back! more

Bland, tasteless, boring-to-average 12/27/2006

I don't know what the fuss is about. I'm a vegetarian and liked the various vegetarian burgers offered by Barney's. The food, however, was on the bland side. My veggie burger wasn't any better than TGI Friday's or the Cheesecake Factory (neither of which I would recommend), and the fries (I tried the steak fries, not the curly) -- while very hot, were tasteless. Reasonably good quality ingredients, but something was lost in its execution. Put another way, there was nothing ""yummy"" about this experience . . . . nothing drawing me to return or to try again. Perhaps the beef, chicken, or turkey burgers are out-of-this world. Ditto for the Wildwood Organic Tofu burger. But, I only tried the garden burger, and my experience was sufficiently uninspiring that I don't see myself venturing down to Barney's again unless I am with other people who adamantly insist on going there. The service was indifferent. Pros: Lots of options Cons: Food was tasteless and boring; service was indifferent more

Great place for the munchies 3/12/2006

ORDER THE CURLY FRIES, they are absolutely to die for! more

Rudeness astounding even for a burger joint 2/10/2006

The food's decent--but I'll never go back. Briefly, the server made a mistake on my order. I can live with that--but she made me feel like it was my fault! When I tried to talk to her, she walked away while I was in mid-sentence. Later, I told her I didnt appreciate her walking away from me in mid-sentence--and she walked away again. Amazingly, I find that she is apparently the manager in charge. When I am paying, I ask her if she is really the manager in charge. She refuses to respond. I ask her if she is not going to respond. She walks away. It could have been a conversation with a five-year-old throwing a temper tantrum! There are too many places to eat in Rockridge to put up with stuff like this. Cons: Terrible attitude, Terrible service more

Great food all around!!! 7/20/2005

Start off with their curly fries, its just so good. Then go straight to their burgers. Basically you won't go wrong with that. There are so many burgers to choose from, I think about 20-30. Prices are good and portions are big. Barneys is a must. Pros: Curly Fries, Burgers more

Burger me up 3/12/2005

Excellent for a quick bite. The fries are some of the best I've ever had, perfect to complement the large selection of amply sized burgers and other sandwiches offered. Selections are creative; unique flavors combine for a good meal. Pros: Selection more

Bangin' Burgers 11/8/2002

The gourmet burgers of Barney's are wonderful! The atmosphere is quaint, yet lively, and the grilled onion rings are fabulous. A must for those who want a meal that is both satisfying and enjoyable. Pros: western burger, lemonade, onion rings Cons: delayed service more

Don't miss this one! 10/4/2002

Great food, comfortable and an outstanding value! This is a ""can't miss"" for a great burger and outstanding fries. The ""people watching"" is also terrific! more

Great burgers 9/22/2002

I absolutely love this place. No place for a vegitarian, though they have good unique fried vegies & fries. Expect to eat a lot. more

It's always time for a Barney's burger 9/6/2002

Consistently good burgers. I'm a fan of the (frozen! OMG!) fries - the steak cut and the curly - but I'm especially fond of the curly, served with side of Ranch dressing. I like that there are options for vegetarians, as well as meat eaters (beef or turkey burgers). My favorite burgers are the Western and the Teriyaki. The shakes are also recommended...if you actually have room after your burger! Pros: good burgers Cons: parking on Solano Ave more

yum, yum, yum feta with my buns 8/26/2002

Barney's is a great burger joint, i especially love the greek burger. Sitting outside on the patio is a great way to spend a lazy sunday afternoon --with some hot steak fries and a shake! more

Delicious! 6/10/2002

These burgers are to die for. I had a craving for a burger, and my boyfriend recommended Barney's. It was absolutely delicious. The Baja Burger was what I ordered~and it cured the craving! Curly fries are a must. Dining on the back porch was also a great perk to our dining experience. Service was attentive and quick. more
