Bar 515 has the potential to be a fun time, but the clientele were not looking to make that happen. The bar was not crowded, and the food was not that tasteee! Cons: weak crowd

Great Party Place 3/9/2010

Fun place for lively evening. Food choices at Bar 515 make it an easy pick for a good and filling meal, or just for appetizers. Beer list is amazing. Prices are inexpensive. And it's big enough so that all 23 of us could have our own party spot by the waterfall in the back. We'll be back!!!!!! Pros: Loved the Foods! Great Beer Selection! Cons: None for us more

My NY Neighborhood bar 3/2/2010

its a friendly place, dark but you can see, music, sports on tv. Good cheap food and booze. Pros: cheap food, sports and music Cons: sometimes crowded on weekends more

good times! 2/28/2010

This bar is sooo much cleaner than the other bars in the neighborhood making this a major plus. The bartenders are quick and friendly. Also they clear away the tables on the weekends making a nice size dance floor. I would def come back to this place again with my girls.. there are a lot of good looking guys here!! Pros: clean Cons: none more

Horrible service 2/22/2010

WORST BARTENDERS EVER. I was at Bar 515 on Saturday night for my friend's birthday. We were hanging in the back corner of the bar (couch area). All night, we were buying drinks and shots at the circular bar in the back room. We dealt with mostly the male bartender (brown hair, chubby) and everyone tipped for every single drink. When I went up to the bar, waiting for the shots, the bus boy came with the huge crate and began to take away the used glasses and beer bottles off the counter. I had a half-finished beer. I was HOLDING it in my HAND when the bus boy grabbed my bottle by the mouthpiece out of my hand. When he realized that it was half-finished, he puts it back on the counter, not even an apology. Granted it was crowded and dark, so I called the bartender over and told him what happened. I asked him for a new bottle to replace the one the bus boy touched. His response-- "I don't care, it's not my problem, there's nothing I can do". By this time, he had poured us the shots. I told him that I wasn't going to pay for the shots unless he exchanges my beer. The bus boy touched my bottle mouthpiece with his HAND. I'm not drinking that. His hand is dirty. He's been collecting used glasses all night, right in front of me. It was clearly his fault. This bartender, whom we have been tipping generously ALL NIGHT, refused to give me a new bottle. What was even more ridiculous was that after I told him that I wasn't paying fo the shots, he threw the shots out. So, he would rather throw away $16 worth of liquor than to replace a $6 beer? It was ridiculous. Of course, you can imagine that I was pissed off. I demanded to speak to the manager. He waved me off and told me to go find him myself. I found a waitress. Told her what happened, and she told me to speak to the main bartender on duty for the night by the front bar. So, after telling him the story again, I did finally get a replacement bottle. However, no one apologized. No one was courtesy. No tip-paying customer should be treated like this. That bartender in the back room should be fired. DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR. Pros: good music Cons: rude bartenders more

Nice After Work Bar 6/19/2009

I like the fact there is a mix of age groups in Bar 515 versus the under 30 crowd at other 3rd ave bars. You can go there alone but you won't feel lonely. Happy Hour drink specials are VERY reasonable. I have never eaten there but my observations tell me the food is good. The staff(bartenders, wait staff and door security) are professional and friendly. Pros: Ambiance, friendly bartenders, Music, TVs Cons: Cant think of any more

This bar rocks! 5/11/2009

One of the greatest times that I have had a bar in the city. Great Bartenders made some awesome shots with hot girls everywhere and a packed party atmosphere. A 10!! Pros: the crowd Cons: none more

Good weekends late 5/11/2009

Fun atmosphere and cool bartenders! I came back here dancing Friday night – good DJ was working the back. Packed back there. More upscale than the other third avenue bars. Check out the waterfall. Pros: music, atmosphere Cons: can be crowded more

Best sportsbar to have a good party 5/8/2009

All 23 of us met up at Bar 515 for some burgers and apps and beer. The juicy burgers are outstanding. What's even better --- the prices are downright cheap. We decided to stay and went to the back bar & waterfall lounge area. I just luved the live DJ music. We all had a fab time. My girlfriends and I will be back here for our next 'girls night out' . Pros: amazing apps, juicy burgers, the DJ was great Cons: absolutely none more

Example: great place for good bread 3/26/2009

I come to 515 quite often as well as some other establishments in the immediate area. 515 is by far my favorite place for a number of reasons. For starters the atmosphere is friendly and and lively. The bartenders and waitresses are obviously experienced enough to know that the customer comes first. Another plus in my book, and should have been on the top of my list, is the great selection of music that the DJ's play. I always invite my friends here because I know we'll end up having a good time. One more plus is that the menu is constantly improving. Lately I've been ordering up Mexican, because it's inexpensive and that's geared more towards my comfort zone. Last year I had my birthday party here and it was a blast. The management is accommodating and actually had the Nintendo Wii available on the flat screen TV. Pros: good service, great music and big variety of beer! Cons: no diving allowed into the waterfall! more

Great and Fun Place. 3/17/2009

I was at BAR 515, great atmosphere ,great service, great music, good crowd . What's not to love? BAR 515 is probably the best bar in the area. Pros: Great Music, Good Looking Bartenders Cons: What are the drawbacks? more

Love this Place!! 2/15/2009

I have been here a few times, and enjoyed myself immensely each time. Friendly bartenders, great food, and great drinks during happy hour! Also, the bathrooms are very nice for a bar! Pros: Good drinks for the price more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! We had the worst experience at this establishment. We were watching the College Football National Championship (Go Gators) and we were kicked off of our table and asked to leave. We had ordered about $200 worth of drinks at this point and there were about 20 people in our party. When they threatened to take our table away, I ordered food to keep our spot, but they said "NO" and you guys are gone. I cannot STRESS how BAD THIS PLACE IS. If I were you I would think 10 times before I go to this place. This place is absolutely atrocious for their service. They are so understaffed, unprofessional, and outright rude that it took about 20 minutes to get our first drink. 20 MINUTES!!! If you encounter ANDREA, please give her a tip on my behalf: BE NICE TO CUSTOMERS WHO ARE SPENDING A LOT OF MONEY AT YOUR ESTABLISHMENT, SINCE THEY ARE PAYING YOUR SALARY, YOU MINIMUM WAGE DEGENERATE. The management at this place doesn't care about your complaints. I called the next day to speak to the manager, and the guy started yelling at me. I could not believe that he was speaking in a loud tone when I maintained calm. PLEASE HELP US PUT THIS PLACE OUT OF BUSINESS. THIS PLACE DESERVES NO PERSON'S BUSINESS. THIS IS THE WORST PLACE TO GO TO ON ANY NIGHT!!! Pros: NO PROS Cons: WORST PLACE EVER!!! more

Bad Service 1/9/2009

Definitely not a good place for anyone who appreciates communication. Gathering 20 friends is hard enough, without having to worry that the completely rude hostess will also hassle you about how many of them are sitting in a seat, and how many are standing next to the table (in a sports bar mind you) excitedly watching a big game on tv. Now imagine our surprise when "Andrea" came running up to us telling us how we had to "get out the table to make room for people who wanted to eat".... I guess it was okay to be that rude since we had already closed out one bar tab? She also didnt want to hear it when i pointed out the 5 other booths of people ONLY buying drinks from her.... (no food)...... just recounting this makes my head hurt that people can be so rude and asinine. Would it have been to much to ask the woman to come over and explain that on nights of big sporting events, they require xyz to be placed on tabs and not purchased from the bar? I guess so. Bottomline, for anyone that will be in the area- there are a dozen other bars in spitting distance... so if you dont want to worry about bumping into this moron thinks she is a hostess at Bar 515, go elsewhere. We surely did. Cons: staff/hostess do not communicate well more

If you meet Andrea- I would walk out! 1/9/2009

I went to bar 515 last night and had the worst experience! I was with about 5 friends, we had dinner and as the night wore on, more of our friends joined us. At one point there were about 20 of us there- a few at the table and the rest at the bar. One of our friends was leaving a little early and closed outour tab at the table- an hour later the hostess (she said her name was Andrea) came up to us and said we needed to leave the table bc she needed it for "people who were going to be ordering though her"-- we offered to order our drinks through her and she refused. Although we had finished our dinner, we were all drinking, and because we didnt know that we had to order from the waitress we were getting our drinks from the bar. (and because our tab at the table was already closed) - to make a long story short- she told us she would rather that all 20 of us leave and not order from the bar, and proceeded to seat 2 people at our table. When I pointed out that she should have just told us that we needed to order from the waitress if we wanted to sit there, she refused to listen. The whole situation is pretty ridiculous, she was being difficult and unreasonable, and in my opinion- discriminatory. Instead, she chose to let 20 people walk out and go to the bar next door -where we proceeded to have a great time- I wonder what the owners/managers of 515 think of that? There are plenty of great bars in the city where you don't have to deal with attitudes like "Andrea's"- why would I ever go back? Cons: awful awful service more

  • In Short
This casual watering hole in Murray Hill shares similarities to other neighborhood spots with sports TV and a male-heavy scene. But three-dozen microbrews and 40 bottled beers impressively side bar foods such as hearty appetizers (spinach-artichoke dip) and even heartier entrees (sandwiches and burgers), bringing big variety to a standard menu. A second bar and lounge in back lends a slightly romantic feel courtesy of a running waterfall, candlelight and exposed brick.
