Experience Excellence 6/8/2011

I recommend Dr. Kimpton unreservedly to anyone seeking expert care for their vision. I have been a patient for 30 years. I’ve received excellent professional care from him and his staff. I’ve never waited in the waiting room for more that 15 minutes. Diagnostic information I receive is clear and concise. His recommendations for treatment equally so. Dr. Kimpton knows I’m incredibly picky about my vision and takes the time to ensure the result is the best it can be. His staff has also been incredibly helpful in helping me achieve my goal of great vision. I intend to continue as a patient until one of us retires. I’m hoping I’m first. more

Amazing Doc! 4/28/2011

I LOVE BALLARD OPTICAL! I have never had anything but great service, caring and professional people, and fantastic results with everything I've experienced with Dr. Kimpton and his wonderful staff. My glasses are beautiful and I have received many compliments from friends and acquaintances. I also have contacts and had experienced dry eyes, redness and general irritation with the lenses I had been wearing all of my life until about 10 years ago when Dr. Kimpton took the time to work with me and find the best fit for my eye. Now my eyes are clear, there is no dry, irritated feeling and I cannot believe the difference!\r \r The folks at Ballard Optical deliver high quality products, exceptional service and professionalism that is so lacking with the big chain and discount outlets that are everywhere. Of course I am willing to pay a bit more to get the kind of quality eye care and product quality that I get at Ballard Optical. If I wanted crummy lenses that don't fit or I wanted to ""take a number"" to get service in a health care environment, I'd go to Costco. No thanks. \r \r It's reassuring to know that there are still people out there that are committed to quality. Quality doesn't come at Costco prices - but even so, their prices are in line with what I would expect.\r \r Thank you, thank you! more

Dr. Kimpton & his Staff are the B-E-S-T!! 4/13/2010

I've been going to Ballard Optical for a few years now, and I've had nothing but great experiences there. They've always been so helpful, really friendly, very responsive, and patient as hell with a very indecisive customer (aka, Me.)\r \r In August 2009, I went in for my yearly eye exam and was given a new prescription. I spent about 90 minutes (probably more) looking at frames (they have a TON of cute frames to choose from, so it was hard to decide) and the women who worked there not only helped me by showing me which frames would be best for my prescription (it's a little strong, so thin frames don't work as well for me), but they helped me with finding frames that fit the small bridge on my nose AND look good, too! They were professional and fun - not to mention very nice to spend so much time with me. \r \r I took some time to decide on my frames -- and I mean SOME TIME (as in a few months). I had recently been laid off and had a ton of personal expenses coming up, and the staff was very kind and understanding about me needing to wait a bit until I made my purchase. \r \r When I did return (in March), they not only sat with me again for hours (I'm not exaggerating here - I mean hours... Over 2 hours one time and another hour or so the next time) while I looked at more frames, they answered more questions, and helped me find the right frames for me. They really went over and above the call of duty (if it would have been me working there, I would have lost patience with me the first time back in August). And the best part -- they made the experience really fun (yes, fun at the eye doctor!!)! All of the women (Cynthia, Lisa and Isabelle) were very nice and so great to work with!\r \r And Dr Kimpton is a fantastic doctor, too! He has always been professional, kind and VERY thorough in his exam. Plus, he always asks me at the end of my exam if I have any questions and actually takes the time to answer them (this was a first for me when it comes to eye doctors – other places I’ve been rush you out of there as fast as they can).\r \r I really couldn't ask for a better place to go for eye care - Ballard Optical is the best! And, even though I no longer live in Ballard, you can be sure I'll be going back there this August when it's time to get my eyes checked again\r Pros: Thorough exams, helpful staff, tons of frames, professional Cons: Not a one more

Worth every penny!!! 11/26/2009

I have spent years dealing with contacts that never quite fit right and optometrists who made me feel like I was a ""problem"" patient. According to them my expectations were too high and I just needed to accept that this was as good as it would get. I dreaded going to the optometrist. All that changed with Dr. Kimpton! Finally I have contacts that correct my vision and fit perfectly! I couldn't be happier with the contacts and with Dr. Kimpton. OUTSTANDING! Dr. Kimpton will be my optometrist from here on out. Pros: Experience more

High prices for eye test - be aware! 8/17/2006

Anyone going to Dr. Klimpton should be aware that they'll pay a significantly higher price for eye tests and contact lens fitting than elsewhere! I only discovered this after my insurance company declined the majority of the payments because the amounts were considered ""over usual, customary and reasonable."" When I did a little more research I discovered Ballard Optical charges over $100 more than Market Optical and Greenwood Optical. The staff are great and Dr Klimpton seems to do a good job (he's a little old school so his 'bedside manner' isn't great) but it wasn't worth the additional $180 plus it cost me. Pros: Good staff and good service Cons: Expensive compared to other opticians more
