Don't Valet! 3/6/2010

Don't valet here, especially if you drive an SUV! I entrusted my vehicle with the valet for dinner and at the end of the evening they let me drive away unknowingly that they had severely scratched my vehicle. Discovering it the next morning and then finding out that there are no cameras in the garage! There is nothing that can be done! Nothing is more infuriating than dishonest people, especially at a nice hotel! more

Great for Main St bar hoppers 8/19/2008

I stayed here with several friends to celebrate birthdays, and the best part of the hotel is definitely the convenient location. If you are going out downtown, all the bars and restaurants are literally steps away. The decor is also very appealing. The elevators are extremely small, but that's a small, easily overlooked inconvenience. Pretty much the only bad part of our experience was that one of the beds was not made when we checked in, and the front desk told us it was probably just turn down service... but for only one of the beds, and at 4 PM?? Pros: Decor, Location Cons: Dirty beds? more

great hotel! 8/9/2008

I also stayed at the Hotel Icon while taking the Bar exam - although the Bar exam was horrible, this hotel was fantastic. Beds were comfortable, the room stayed cool, room service was prompt, the front desk staff were so friendly and understanding, the bar downstairs is really nice, and there is fast and free internet service! You really couldn't ask for more. For me, the best quality is the beautiful bathroom and fabulous Molton Brown bath products. Pros: beautiful and comfortable rooms, bathrooms, M&Ms and Skittles in the lobby Cons: no ice machine more

Great, professional service 8/9/2008

I stayed 3 nights at Hotel Icon so I wouldn't have to drive while taking the Texas Bar Exam at George R. Brown. The rooms were immaculate, the bathrooms were very nice, and the bar downstairs was impressive. The customer service was top notch and all of the employees were very friendly and professional. We used the hotel's car service to get to the convention center every morning. The drivers were always punctual, friendly, and understanding of our need to get to our destination quickly. I would recommend this hotel to anyone coming into Houston, either on business or leisure. Pros: Staff, rooms, and car service. Cons: No ice machine. more

5 Star Service! 7/8/2008

The only thing I knew about this hotel was that my girlfriend was present for the opening of the Hotel's restaurant Voice a few months back. She was given a free stay coupon that we would use at a later date. July 4th came up and I came in for an extended weekend and we chose the 4th for our night to stay. From the moment we pulled into the garage we were treated in a comfortable and friendly manner. It wasn't pushy and it wasn't stuffy; we were treated like regular patrons. My girlfriend said a few days before I got into town that she had been contacted by the concierge about dinner, shopping etc. I didn't know where in downtown it was and he had reccomended a few restaurants. We ate at one of his suggested restaurants and had a great time. We went up to our room which was very nice with lots of ammenities. We popped down to the bar and had a drink before heading out to our dinner reservation. Friendly bartenders. The old bank lobby is handsomely decorated and again comfortable. We spoke of how this could become ""our hotel."" We bounced around Market Square after our meal and after a few hours we found ourselves drawn back to the hotel bar before retiring. We again had a great time. The other guests also looked happy. We made fast friends with a few of the bartenders. The management has done a tremendous job cultivating a professional and friendly spirit amoung their staff. We had a great stay. Next time I am in town we plan to eat at Voice as the menu looked very inviting; we didn't eat there as she had already been. This little hotel has so much to offer. Please do yourself a favor and book a weekend and catch the Astros or take the rail to the museums or even catch the Texans in the fall. The rail is a block away allowing you to get practically anywhere you want to go. We loved this place! Pros: Friendly staff, close to rail system, close to bars and restaruants more

Customer service out the Whazoo!! 7/8/2008

A few months back, I attended the opening of the hotel's new restaurant, Voice, and with my free food & drink, I also received a goodie bag! Inside was a voucher for a free weekend night's stay good through the end of the year. To be honest, I thought ""what's the catch?"" but decided to save it for when my boyfriend came to town so that we could have a worry-free downtown night. Pros: Customer Service, Location, Restaurant more

Beautiful and bad... 7/1/2008

There were 3 of us celebrating a birthday and had a martini in the bar. The problem we had was our Martinis had way to much vermouth after we asked for very little. Our server remade them 3 times and still were not right. He did apologize each time but for this type of upscale establishment I expected a manager to come over and offer to pick up the tab after the third attempt. None did. We are willing to give the hotel bar another chance some time since it is a nice place to have a drink but will stay away from ordering Martinis. Pros: Very nice atmosphere Cons: Drinks not made to customer's request more

Swanky downtown spot 5/7/2008

The Hotel Icon is a great place to stay with outstanding customer service. I brought my girlfriend there for a birthday surprise and we were thrilled with our stay. She loved her swedish massage. Dinner at Voice was amazing.....the presentation of the Chef's 5 course dinner is worth a look. Their new bar is a swanky spot to relax after a superb dinner! Pros: customer service, decor, value Cons: parking more

Best Hotel Experience... Hotel ICON has it! 3/26/2007

This place is amazing. I have traveled well, and the Hotel ICON is one of the best properties I have ever visited. The rooms are gorgeous, and the service is top-notch. Don't forget about the Bar and BANK Restaurant - TWO THUMBS WAY UP! Pros: The Rooms, The Food, The Staff Cons: Not Enough Hotel ICON's Out There... more

This place is the brightest gem in Houston's crown - Don't Miss It! 3/22/2007

There is no other hotel in Houston that compares! This place is stunning! Plus, the staff is very friendly. I will not stay anywhere else, and the food is out of this world! Pros: The Food, Staff & Guest Rooms! Cons: I couldn't stay long enough! more

Best place to take a bath 3/22/2007

What can I say but the Premium King rooms and the jacuzzi bathtubs are wonderful. If you've had a long day at the office and need a relaxer this is the hotel you want to be at. Also there rooms are just beautiful and the antique paintings are just the thing to set it off and I really appreciate the complementary service to and from my office downtown. Pros: Complementary transportation downtown more

Great service, fun atmosphere, and now they allow pets 3/21/2007

My wife and I stay here a lot!! We stay here whenever we come downtown to enjoy the night life.... The bar is one of my favorite places to hang out downtown, very intimate and a great place to ""hide"" for the night... Pros: Pet Friendly, Attentive Staff, Great Bar Cons: The noise from that jazz bar across the street more

Wonderful and attentive staff 1/21/2007

Really a great hotel and prices are very affordable for the luxury and style that is offered. I was most impressed with the extremely nice bathrooms. The locations is great, and the decor is beautiful. The picture on the review, while nice, does not do the interior justice! Pros: Staff, decor, hospitality Cons: None! more

The Very Best Hotel I've Stayed In 9/28/2006

My fiancee and I went there for a romantic weekend (we live in Houston). We had a room with a king bed. I loved the colors and the style it was decorated in. Very 1920's art deco-ish style. It was decorated in rich reds, golds and greens. It also had a very nice red easy chair. The mini bar is fully stocked with wonderful snacks and drinks. But the bathroom is by far the best! The claw foot, jacuzzi tub is nice and roomy, and equipped with a spray attachment. The best part is that it sits right next to the shutters that look into the main room. So you can smoke a cigar and watch TV while you relax in the tub! Right behind the tub is a clear glass shower...use your imagination in this bathroom, lovebirds!! The bathroom is stocked with Molton Brown bath products that smell delicious, and, of course, the usual items you find in a hotel bathroom. They also have a turn-down service with the chocolates and rose petals on the comforter. And we didn't get the romantic package...this, I think, is standard! The bar at the Bank restaurant is wonderful, but we didn't try the restaurant itself. My only complaints are that you do have to valet park, and the front desk people are a bit slow and not as friendly or classy as they should be in a hotel like this. Despite that, I can't WAIT to stay there again. I recommend it HIGHLY for couples looking for a romantic getaway :) Pros: Good price, bathroom, decor Cons: parking, front desk staff, view is ok more

Nothing worth 3/28/2006

I had the worst stay ever . Concierge service is bad . Rooms are not clean. The bar is too expensive. more

A Downtown Hidden Treasure!!!! 3/8/2006

My Wedding Night WAS PERFECT!!!! We had a Romance Package that I think was the BEST way to start our honeymoon!! We arrived to our Junior Suite after the reception to find the room already prepared for a night in heaven!! The next morning we had a large family brunch catered by BANK by Jean Georges, it was almost as fun as the actual wedding recepection! My Family LOVED the Hotel!! (No One had ever been to Houston before, and they thought they were at the most posh New York Hotel!!) Pros: Food Quality, Decor/Ambiance, A++ SERVICE Cons: NOTHING!!!! more

Great romantic hotel 2/14/2006

Went for a one-night getaway for our fifth anniversary. For the money, the best hotel we stayed in Houston or abroad. Great room. Decorations remind us of a botique hotel in Paris. Soft bed with down comforter. Huge bathroom with upscale toilettries. Wished the jacuzzi tub was a little for 2. Free high speed internet connections for checking the actions in downtown. Free shoe shine. Overall, great experience. Pros: Romantic, Location, Clean Cons: Pay for parking, No free water bot more
