Call The Department of Health and Hygiene 12/11/2011

What a seriously unfortunate watering hole. My friends and I love to have Sunday drinks and thought this would be a perfect neighborhood spot. WRONG!!!!!! First of all, the bar smells like urine. I probably should have called it a day at that, but okay its not The Ritz. Moving on....so we go to order drinks at the bar, and are pretty much ignored by some short guy with a height complex until we are forced to yell ""hey excuse me sir""......after we got our sippy cups we laughed about the experience and just figured we would.nt go back. Hold the phone! I the noticed TWO employees emerge from the bathroom without washing their hands.....can you say ewwwww....As if I want dirty I touched myself hands pouring my drinks or exchanging money in my hand? How do I know they did not wash their hands......there was no sign of water in the sink, which means a faucet was never turned on. EW holy vomit. Go at your own risk.....or save a buck and drink at home! more

One of my favorite places to go in the city 6/1/2009

I always have a good time here especially during football season. Yes the service can be really slow, but if you sit at the bar that is definitely not the case, the bartenders have the ability to give way faster service than the servers? oh and did I mention that the food is delicious?! The wings are better than atomic and better than h00ters lol. Good burgers, nachos, French onion soup, and the chicken potpie is the perfect meal to soak up all the alcohol that is in the drinks? they pour them heavy here! If you love irish bartenders then this is the place for you ? Pros: great food and you feel like family Cons: can get crowded and service can be slow more

Great Place to catch 6 Nations Rugby Matches 1/15/2009

Find an international crowd and you have yourself a great place to catch a rugby match on satellite. Good food and good crowd of folks. Pros: friendly crowd, nice staff, lots of televisions Cons: $20 cover charge for rugby matches, crowded more

MEAT 6/17/2008

This is the place if you want to meet some meat and I'm not talking about the food. This place one guy mentioned is spot on with service if it is very slow but when busy the waitresses get harassed nonstop which means no beer for you. There are many less busy places in the area that allow you to drink your pain away oh single ones. Cons: Limeys more

Mixed Bag 2/8/2008

Baker St. is a mixed bag. They do pour a proper pint of Guinness and when business is slow, service is prompt. When it's packed however, the bar seems understaffed and movement through the main room, due to the obstruction of the dividing dry bar is almost non-existent. The food is above par pub food but the waitstaff are often overworked thus lending to slow table service. The biggest pet peeve though, as a trivia connousieur stems from the hosting style of the Weds. trivia night. The host's Irish accent is charming but his annunciation, propensity to tell jokes in lieu of authentic questions (which are frequently mistaken FOR questions) and seemingly random rhythm leave much to be desired. I've tried to give it another shot a couple times, but always leave frustrated with the inelegant and patternless style of the host. If you're into trivia that actually tests knowledge and not puns and 80s music, I'd go elsewhere. Pros: Good Pints of Guinness, Better than Average Pub Food Cons: Slow service when busy, really frustrating trivia host more

avoid happy hour 10/14/2007

I drink in the area. No I am not a drunk( maybe). Baker St is always involved in some kind of event-think sports with a door fee-. When there is no events the place is OK. The food is not that tasty and they have a hard time doing changes-""The Chef is picky"" I was told: ""no substitutions"". However, Bartenders do a good job in faking the history of the place. I like the place for a quick beer(when there is no cover). The staff is surprisingly good and great at promoting their place of employment. Food could be better. Pros: history-good menu Cons: run of the mill bar and service-do not expect service more

Fun, Great food and drinks 8/13/2007

super fun pub, good crowd, great food and drinks, not too expensive. The only thing i dont recommend is the brunch - there is a good variety but the food just wasn't up to par. Pros: Good crowd, good drinks, good music, fun atmosphere Cons: service can be slow, don't like the brunch more

Fun Bar, Great Staff 5/18/2007

To ""mmam"" - (review below) the bar doesn't charge for those games, Setanta Sports does - the provider of the satellite signal. Anywhere else that was televising whatever rugby match you went to see would be the same deal, unless they pirated the signal illegally. The bar gets zero dollars out of that. more

Avoid for sport 11/12/2006

They are charging you no less than $20 per head for watching on TV a Saturday afternoon rugby game. This is just to enter the pub and to spend more money on drinks or food while watching your game (if you can seat - the place was overcrowded) ! Pros: They show big rugby / european soccer games Cons: They charge you way too much for that more

great brunch 4/22/2006

the BEST french toast I've ever had.... more to come later. more

One of my favorite places. 3/22/2006

I go there frequently for the great food, decent prices and friendly staff. Always a good crowd but never too crowded. Plus, they deliver! Pros: food, staff, prices more

Great Trivia 10/25/2004

On Wednesday nights at 9, Baker Street is our local haunt for Trivia Nights. Call ahead during the sports season to make sure they are running the event, but when they are, it's a hoot, and makes for a good time out with friends. Very decent pub fare, friendly staff that lets you stay all night - provided you get there early enough to get a seat! Pros: Trivia nights, Good pub food, Beer + Cider on tap more

Poor-Burger 8/31/2003

I know its not the Old Homestead. But two burgers on a Sunday around noon with three other patrons in house should A) be cooked to order and B) be more than just shaped beef. Especially when it gets over $8. Size was fine. Flavor not there. more

Diamond in the Rough 1/13/2003

Baker Street Pub is a 1st Ave diamond in the rough. It is generally moderately crowded and seems to have quite a diverse crowd - not necessarily an after-work audience but more like a 2-3 person crowd just looking to talk and not hit on the opposite sex or act annoying. Music is not too loud so you can actually hear the other person speak. Mild/High recommendation. Pros: Laid-back, Conversational place Cons: Mixed atmosphere, Drinks expensive more

Cocktails & Dreams 1/8/2003

I once read that a scene from Cocktail was shot in the Baker Street Pub.....so really I just wanted to try it out. My friend was somewhat of a regular and loved it. I see why. It was just a great place to go and hang out - have some good food and a few good drinks. more

Good Old Bar 10/18/2002

My g/f and I stopped in on a recommendation from a bartender down 1st avenue and he couldn't have been more right. The burgers were great. Good beer selection. Good service. We will definitely be back there again. more
