Very impressive. Excellent food, friendly staff and very good value. I will certainly return.

Worst

Let me start out by saying that I have never written a negative review for anything before and my girlfriend will tell you that I'm not the complaining type, especially with food....

I love this place 9/14/2010

I have to tell you that this Baiyok has never disappointed me or my friends. I am not one to go out much. I love to cook at home and so when I leave home I always want to make it special... Like Baiyok (thank you!) more

A great find! 12/22/2008

Baiyok is near my house and I've been wanting to try it for several months- and I'm SO glad I finally did. I had the spicy garlic and it was the best Thai dish I've had in a long time. I'm glad to see they also deliver through DeliveredDish. It wasn't crowded and the waitress was friendly- I look forward to trying out the rest of the menu. Pros: Good food, not crowded, convienent location Cons: It's snowing, I'm hungry, and they're not open :( more

best Thai anywhere 10/12/2008

Great service - the same young woman is there to serve and she is so friendly! We get our food in under 5 min everytime even when there are other tables full. The food is so good that you want to bring some home for later but it never makes it out the door! The parking is complicated but Worth it!!! I will even come over from Vancouver to eat as much as possible! Pros: to many to count Cons: not near my home! more

Worst Thai Restaurant Experience 3/12/2008

Let me start out by saying that I have never written a negative review for anything before and my girlfriend will tell you that I'm not the complaining type, especially with food.\r \r I lived in Thailand for almost six years, and like to frequent Thai food places, so I thought I would give this one a shot. I did not have a good, or even mildly acceptable, experience.\r \r To start off, the parking lot was not made for cars. Maybe motorcycles. If everyone parked between the lines, nobody could open their car door more than an inch or two.\r \r Once inside, the waitress was terrible and didn't seem to understand things we said and kept asking for numbers, even after repeating what we said. My girlfriend had to get up and point at the beer we ordered in the refrigerator because she couldn't figure it out on her own after we told her, described it to her, and pointed at it on the menu. She could have at least compared what she wrote down to what was on the label.\r \r The food itself was not terrible, although I have definitely had much better. I did find a gray hair in my first bite, though, which wasn't a particularly enjoyable experience. Also, we got our food about five minutes apart, although that's not such a big deal to me.\r \r She didn't check on us until the end of our meal, nor did she refill our water, and there were only two other tables in use.\r \r When she brought the check (which she set next to my girlfriend for some reason, maybe she's a feminist) it wasn't even mine! It was for one of the other two tables.\r \r This was the first time in years I have ever tipped under 20% and I never plan on returning, which is sad because that is currently the closest Thai food to where I live.\r \r I would definitely not recommend this place to anyone. Hopefully this was an isolated incident. Pros: Food was ok Cons: Terrible service, Parking lot is not good more

portland's best thai cusine 11/7/2007

I have eaten at pretty much every thai restaurant in portland and can say hands down that if you ever have the chance to have the owner cook for you then you will experience the best cuisine outside of thailands 5 star dining establishments. She also gives thai cooking classes. I had a warm and good conversation with the owner and she generally greets diners as they come in. Awesome! Awesome! food. Pros: too many to mention more

Cozy, quaint and quality! 9/18/2007

I've tried three places in Portland So far, and the winner is BaiYok. From the friendly service to the artful food presentation you will be glad you took the time to try it. There is a great selection and good portions. I eat here often and almost always when I want Tai. Pros: easy to find, satisfying taste and portion size Cons: not around the corner from my house more

local favorite 4/18/2007

I love this place! You can tell they put a lot of thought towards taste and texture in their dishes. The prices are great and the owner and staff seem genuinely friendly. Move over Typhoon, I've got a new favorite! Pros: dee-lish dishes, nice people Cons: easy to miss and drive by, small place more

THE BEST! 1/10/2007

I've been to many Thai restaurants in Portland and this one is by far the best! They're also really friendly, fast and ALWAYS good! It's also affordable. I go here around once every week or two weeks, usually with my family. I also order it to go sometimes. It's very good and I highly recommend giving it a try! Pros: Good food, nice and friendly service, good price, nice decor Cons: Parking is hidden in back more
