Best

I LOVE this place. Am addicted to their Thai Special Salad that I could eat every day. Hard to get an order in because too many choices are so darned great.

Worst

A decent list of wine by the glass - though they were out of the J. Lohr Syrah and stated they were changing the list. Pad Thai was good, but the three other dishes were so so - t...

Good Quality, Well Prepared Thai on Pike/Harvard 10/31/2006

Ayutthaya Thai restaurant is very good. Their variations on dishes can be a little different than other Thai restaurants, which can take a little getting used to if you have a certain 'taste' in mind, but I there menu is extensive I suggest trying something new here, you really can't go wrong. However, I usually get Green Curry with Chicken extra spicy and a Thai iced tea to wash it down out of craving/habit. The quality is of the entrées is good and the prices are cheap. Many entrées are $7 and I usually get out of there for around 11 bucks (including tip and tax). I know this isn't amazing cheap for the U.Dist. but it's about as cheap as you can eat (besides at Subway or pho) on the Hill without skimping. The previous reviewed called this place "a hole in the wall" I wouldn't quite call it that (they have real wood paneling, oooh ooh!) but it is a diner-type atmosphere with the commercial "soft rock" radio station on for ambiance. For the high food quality and fresh and originally prepared dishes, I'm not surprised they are Zagat rated and decorated with many local food awards too. Most of the dishes have a good balance of meat/veggies, but some of the dishes are meat or veggie only (as indicated by a lack of mention). Recently I tried number 35 (I forgot the name but it's chicken thighs marinated in a special sauce and wrapped in bamboo leaves) it was DELICIOUS! It is all meat with two dipping sauces, but the marinade is amazing. For desert, I tried the Black Rice Pudding which was made fresh and is served steaming hot with a blueberry sauce and coconut milk. It was very tasty, big enough for two. more

What can be bad after three babies... 12/25/2005

OK, I admit it, we have a little ritual here, after each of our three children, I'd sneak out and get a Thai dinner for Connie and me from this place. It is a hole in the wall and never crowded, but I just love their yellow curry. Also, their basil is just great. Not expensive and tastes great. Parking is surprisingly easy on East Pike too. more
