I had been going to Avalon for a year or so. Every 3-4 months, I would treat myself to a pedicure. Since Avalon is in the mall, the hours fit into my schedule, and I usually did not mind the long waits. That was until my most recent visit (last summer)! \r
I went to enjoy the day with my Mom, and after a 2 hour wait, we finally got into the salon. I had the misfortune to have the new (or atleast I hope) girl, who not only did not speak english, but she did not pay attention to what she was doing. During my pedicure, she was using the callus remover, which requires her to wear gloves because it chemically burns your skin! Well the gloves may have protected her, but when she grabbed my ankle, she got callus remover all over my skin and did not bother to wash it off...after I started to burn and mentioned to her that I was in pain, she began to tell me to calm down (I was extremely calm up until she said this) and sprayed my burn with rubbing alcohol! Then the manager came over and again sprayed more alcohol and began to rub the burn...and then they expected me to pay full price for this horrible service! Now, I was not trying to get a free pedicure, but the fact that I have a permanent scar on my ankle leads me to believe that they should have comped it, especially due to the fact that I was a regular customer. \r
I have not gone back, and neither has any other person that I knew who went there. I have however found a wonderful new salon just down the street in Legacy Village called, Anthony Vince. They are professional, clean, less expensive and I have not been injured!!!
Pros: mall hours
Cons: unskilled workers/poor management/long wait times/high cost
