In short Avalon @ Freehold should be your last choice for an apartment that bills itself as a high end community.
My families relocation from out of the area did not afford us with much time to search many apartments. We looked at about 6 communities over the course of a weekend and chose Avalon due to its proximity to family and its appearance as a well run community.
What we've found is that the staff has been unresponsive, rude and at times combative. Our roof has leaked and it took over 2 months for maintenance to fix. They said they would send someone by in the next day or two. Two months later a roofing company came unannounced and enetered our apartment. It had not rained since the initial leak and they asked if it was still leaking. My wife told them No, but it has not rained since I called 2 months ago. The men left without checking the roof or the damge to our apartment. It rained 1 week later and the leak was back! When we called agin they said there is nothing that can be done while it is raining and to put something down to catch the water! The same men came back and blamed my wife for the damage. They said my wife said it wasn't leaking anymore.
Our cars have been vandalized in the parking lot. The construction quality is poor to the point that you can hear the conversations of your neighbors and smell the cigarettes that they smoke while in your apartment. They also allow dogs. They allow dogs to bark all day and night and tell you there is nothing they can do about it. They like to tell you to call the police anytime you have a problem with anything related to the other tenants. They basically want your rent check and that is about it. If you are unhappy they tell you, you can move out , but they will have to charge you a fee for breaking your lease.
