I visited Autumn skateshop for the first time today and was pleasantly surprised. I'm a neophyte to skating, and expected attitude or indifference from the staff. Instead, I got his undivided attention and a quick breakdown on the parts I needed. I explained what I was looking for, and he detailed my options with a couple of recommendations. I was only there for bearings and wheels, but he gave me enough attention that you would have thought I walked in with an open wallet. Only downside- literally 5 or 10 'lounge lizards' - kids just hanging out in the store who were clearly not going to be buying anything. In a small shop, this makes browsing difficult. Overall, still recommended for the service alone.
Pros: Good service, knowledgeable staff, good location [between tompkins square park and astor, great skate spots]
Cons: Small store, lots of kids hanging out but not buying [makes it hard to browse]
