I called Luke because my furnace wasn't kicking in when the thermostat switched on. He has been here twice before, once to resolve a circulation problem caused by another contractor's poor workmanship and later to service our AC unit. He's very good at what he does, and his prices are always fair. Each time I received 5-star service. When he arrived this morning, we couldn't recreate the problem. The furnace cycled through just fine. Luke waited for 30 minutes to make sure it was consistently starting and stopping as it should and explained the variables that might cause the furnace to temporarily stop working properly. I grabbed my checkbook so that I could pay him the standard service call fee, but he wouldn't take the money. I wish all the repairmen that I deal with were as honorable as Luke. Be alert! Don't show up and no call at all... 8/21/2009

I had an appointment with Austin Air Dynamics Thursday 12pm for an analysis since A/C on second floor is not as cool as I like while the first floor is very good. I drove 40minutes to home from my office for this service appointment. At 12:05pm, nobody showed up, and I called and left message and asked for a call back and let me know if they can make it. No reply. I called again at 12:20pm, left message again, and still no one called me back. Finally at 12:50pm, I thought it's enough. I called again and told them I would post here for their unprofessional and un-trustful manner to treat their customers, since I decided to use them after reading the reviews here. Only after this message, someone finally called me and gave me the you-know-what excuse. Do you agree they should at least give me a call back and let me know if they can't make it at all? This is the first time a service company never shows up and doesn't call you back after a couple messages. How unprofessional Austin Air Dynamics is. I agreed the $75 analysis charge, but they just don't care at all. Anyway, if you can afford several hours to waste, prepare nobody showup, and don't have any other service company to pick, use austin air dynamics, otherwise, I strongly recommend don't have business with them. Stay away from these guys 7/20/2009

Austin Air Dynamics ripped me off too. They screwed up my system and stopped returning my calls. Another company had to come back to fix what they messed up. They were the cheapest quote I got and as they say, "You get what you pay for". Looking at all the positive reviews here - I think they're either customers who lucked out and had jobs these clowns were able to fix, got ripped off and still don't know it yet or are staged. Unsealed vents and ducts 7/17/2009

They installed a new Goodman unit and new ducts. They did not seal the ducts and the registers properly. So we were cooling the attic. When the outside unit stopped working (2 years later) they did not respond to phone calls for 4 days. Another contractor fixed it: it was a dead capacitor in the outside unit; a simple fix (the unit is under 10 year warranty). However, he got suspicious when looking at the inside unit in our closet, we went up to the attic and we found the unsealed vents and a gaping hole above the closet. The unit also appears to be oversized. I learned my lesson: 1. Ask to see the manual J calculation, do not believe otherwise that they did it. 2. Check the work, run the unit, and inspect for leeks. Should've known the reviews were too good to be true! Luke will take your money and run, so watch out! He should change his voice message because customer calls are not important to him. Your calls might be answered if you are a new customer but not if you have a problem after he's taken your money. He left us without a working a/c, kept our money though, and won't return calls. Buyer Beware 7/1/2009

We selected Air Dynamics after reading all the glowing reviews on this site. Luke was eager to do the work but in the end he did a sloppy, rushed job installing our new A/C system. What's amazing is that he did the work last November, which was a slow period for most A/C contractors so you would think he would have taken the time to do the work right. I think he was just in a hurry to get paid and after he took $12,000 of our money to install two new air conditioning units in our 2-story home (the home originally had one large unit servicing both floors) he has been less than eager to help fix the problems we have had. It seems he could care less about all the problems we've been having. That is not the kind of service we expected after spending over $12,000. By the way, he told us he no longer gets reimbursed by the equipment manufacturer and passed us off to another A/C contractor to help figure out why our system isn't workng upstairs. Here we are in the middle of summer with over 100 degree temps outdoors. Our infant and young child are miserable trying to sleep when the temperature is over 85 degrees upstairs with what was supposed to be a new and improved A/C system. The system is not even a year old and we have had nothing but trouble with the A/C upstairs. Luke won't call us back and his voice mailbox is often full making us wonder how is it possible he still has these great reviews, how can this be the same person, if the postings are even legit. We've experienced less than satisfactory service and workmanship. It rained yesterday and get this, Luke failed to seal the roof vents meaning carbon dioxide was leaking into the attic and rainwater leaked into our attic which could have shorted out the new A/C equipment had we not discovered this as early. Had we not had someone in the attic trying to figure out why the newly installed A/C system will not work (something Luke should be doing, not a third party), we might not have found the leaking vent until more damage had occurred. It's scary to think someone could put a family at risk like that. Luke has not done the job right, and he has not treated us right either. We will end up taking him to court if we don't get a working A/C system before the summer is over. Pros: None Cons: Shoddy Work, Absolutely No Follow Up more

Great Company 6/16/2009

These guys were great and I highly recommend them. Memorial Day weekend, Sunday eve, 95 degrees. I was trimming my yard and damaged one of the exterior AC cables with my trimmer. I immediately heard the AC unit shut off... uh oh. I tried splicing the cable, but no dice. I called several AC companies and left numerous messages (no one was answering at that hour, and I hardly blame them), but Luke Garcia was the only one to return my call -- very first thing in the morning (7 AM). He was out within hours and took great care of us. As it turns out, when I damaged the outside cable it shorted out the transformer outside and motherboard inside. Ouch! That explained why the slice failed to work. I was afraid he was going to tell me I needed to replace my aging system, but he didn't. He told me what I needed to do to repair it and also gave me some DIY tips on how I could get the most out of it. When I do finally need to get a new system, I will definitely call Luke! Our air conditioner went out the evening of the 49th day of 100 degrees and above this summer. The next day was also supposed to be over 100. We called that next morning before they opened and left a message figuring it could be a couple of days before anyone could come and worried about what it would cost. They called about 8:00 and said someone could be there at about 10:30 THAT morning. They arrived shortly after 10:00. There was a wiring problem that they carefully analyzed and quickly fixed. We were paying them at 10:30. It cost the same amount of them coming out! (At this writing that cost is $55!) This is the best service I have EVER had from a repair service. If I could give them a score of 6 (out of 5), I would. more

Great, speedy, cost effective A/C service 7/14/2008

Luke and has associates were very responsive and gave a quote that was over $500 below other contractors. They had someone out to assess the problem the day I called and had completed the entire A/C system by the close of business the following day. They did what they said they would do and were friendly and accessible. This was completed in July 2008, during peak season. I would be eager to do business with this company again. Pros: Least amount to complete the work, very quick and efficient, upgraded the control panel at no charge. Cons: None. more

Great cusomter service + good price 7/13/2008

We had gone back and forth with a "friend-of-a-neighbor" for about 2 weeks determining our needs to only have him back out on a wednesday morning. By that afternoon, Luke had come out, discussed our needs, and promised to give a quote via email the next morning. By noon thursday, we had our contract signed and expected to have a new AC unit installed the next day. Luke showed up at 9:30 on friday (when he said he would) with a small crew, and installed both the inside and outside units. They were done by 3:30, and we had a cool house again. It turned out the thermostat was not working properly so they made plans to come out and replace it. When they came back out, they replaced the thermostat and the return vent with a vent that accepts a filter. The price was at the low end of what we saw on message boards and other two other quotes we recieved. After three weeks, we couldn't be more happy (perhaps content is a better term). The only negatives on the experience were that it was difficult to get the correct email address to whoever actually sent the quote. That led to some miscommunication. There was a dark hand-print on the wall, but it easily wiped off. I consider those rather minor issues and the only reason I include them is for completeness. I want to make a comment that we went with Luke and his company mostly based on comments on this board. Like others, I was suspecious as to how someone can have only positive feedback, but he really deserves it. His advice was in line with everything I read on-line, and we ended up with what seems like a good unit, with a stellar warranty. We will definately use Luke and his company to replace our second unit when it dies, as well as for servicing both units. I will recommend him to anyone that asks me for recommendations in the future. Pros: customer service, professionalism Cons: none more

Superior customer service 6/21/2008

My AC stopped working on Wednesday evening and although I was a bit skeptical of all of the 5-star reviews, I decided to give these guys a call. They made it out Thursday morning, diagnosed the problem, and Luke took the time to explain everything to me. Although I was not happy that the entire condenser (the unit that sits out on the side of the house) had to be replaced, I was very pleased that they were able to have a new one delivered and installed that same day--I had air conditioning again by 5PM. more

My wife and I upgraded our 2 a/c units in our house, as they were nearly 30 years old. I looked at vendors recommended on the Austin Energy web site and called one. The salesman offered two solutions, both using the old freon type, saying that the freon would be available for 20 more years, and the new freon was unproven and more expensive. My wife and I are pro-environment, and did not want the old freon. Research at hvac-talk showed that as long as the lines were correclty purged, the new freon was better, and that the cost of the old freon is already more than the new freon. Also, the vendor sold Trane, which is over-priced in my opinion. I called a contractor I had worked with once, who quoted Amana. I had not heard Amana made A/C units. They have a lifetime compressor warrantee, and 10 years on the rest of the system. They have stainless steel tubing, and over-pressure protection (whcih Trane does not have). They do not use proprietary parts (like Trane), and they also were one of the first to use the scroll compressor, now used everywhere. That quote was only $1000 less than the Trane, which did not match what I read on-line. I then saw Austin Air Dynamics at the Amana web site. I saw glowing reviews at CitySearch, so I asked for a quote for both 15 SEER and 16 SEER 2-stage Amana units. The price installed was thousands less than the other quotes. And the price difference for the 16 SEER was paid for by the city rebates! It is a 2-stage system, which I also recommend (higher SEER on low). Luke was very professional, and his crew did a stellar job. I put down cardboard to protect my new wood floors, which I recommend to anyone. The crew did not damage anything, and the installation was trouble-free (in a very small space). Luke applied for the city rebate, which arrived on schedule. He even called to make sure I received it! In summary, a professional installation with excellent customer service at an unbeatable price. Great value for the money! 4/4/2008

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank Air Dynamics for an exceptional job during my recent A/C installation. Luke and his crew showed up on time and were very professional. Like almost everyone in Austin, I suffer from seasonal allergies and felt that my old A/C was the culprit. I had my old unit checked out and found that it had mold on the coils which was definitely contributing to my health problems. I decided on a new unit and Luke took the time to explain my options. I chose a unit with a HEPA filter and a UV light addition. Since the installation, I can positively say that my allergies have definitely been reduced by the cleaner air in my home. I would highly recommend Air Dynamics to my family and friends. GREAT JOB GUYS! more

Saved me cash now, gets my business later 12/23/2007

Luke came out to give me an estimate on a new central air/heating unit. He was friendly and knowledgeable. Most importantly to me though, was that he could have easily sold me a whole new system at the time, instead he suggested his guys fix it for now at about 1/20th the cost of a new unit. His crew arrived shortly, repaired the broken blower quickly, efficiently and courteously. The system is working great now. Since it's so old it will need to be replaced soon, as far as I'm concerned, Luke gets the job when the time comes. more

Very happy with a complicated job well-done. 11/20/2007

I'm very happy with the job that Luke and his crew did, replacing my 20-year-old central heat and air system. I found them via citysearch and I was a bit wary because of the great reviews by people who had only made one review, but it must have had more to do with the maturity of the site than any gaming of the system. I got 3 bids and Air Dynamics was the cheapest and had the best information to help me decide. Although he is clearly a busy man, Luke will take the time to answer any questions and put things in perspective, such as stating that most compressors in the US are made by 2 companies. I opted for a Goodman system, and, because I have an 80--year-old house, I asked for several other things, such as new ducts, and fixing old problems. This was probably not a typical installation. Luke went above and beyond, even installing a drop-down ladder at a good price, since the entry to the attic needed to be enlarged. The only negative that I can fault his crew is that they didn't do a great job of cleaning up or covering furniture before working, so I would move and cover things yourself if you use them. In the grand scheme of things, this is really, really minor and worth the trade-off for the excellent installation. Our 11 year old AC quit discharging cold air (apparently you can't saw B L O W I N G on this site) - after calling two high pressure companies who wanted to CHARGE me to send someone out for a quote I searched online and was impressed with the comments about Austin Air Dynamics and Luke Garcia I read here. His impressive rating and the fact that I prefer to support a locally owned business (working for one myself) I called. Luke was PROMPT, PROFESSIONAL and gave me an accurate quote that he stood behind even when it was more work than originally anticipated. Luke explained the situation and options in a factual but no pressure way that I was comfortable with. I also appreciated NOT being talked down to or demeaned in the way that happens so often when service people deal with women handling a "crisis" situation. Luke diagnosed the problem correctly the first time, and when Luke and the technicians showed up the next day ON TIME they also installed some safety features that were missing on the original setup AND created a setup that made it SIMPLE to change the filter, unlike the battle we used to have to deal with. They even cleaned up so well after themselves (and this dirty job) that it was like they were never here! Our AC b l o w s like new - thank you!
