Austin Mobile Glass

This is by far the worst service I've ever used. They left a mess in our driveway and did not call in advance to let us know they were on their way. While replacing the windshield they damaged a piece of trim and left it hoping I would not notice. When they re-installed my rear view mirror they heated it with a torch and then dropped my mirror onto my center console and melted it. My wife witnessed it; the installer yelled oh Sh#t when he dropped the hot mirror onto my console. I went to their office to show them the damage; they ordered a new clip for the trim. I asked if they typically offer compensation or replace the damaged console when they accidently damage a vehicle. The representative said it depends, sometimes they do not do anything, sometimes they offer $100 and sometimes they repair it but he would have to check with the owner. I did not realize the man telling me he had to check with the owner was in fact the owner Norman Newsome himself. He lied to my face. \r \r When the clip for the trim piece arrived it was the wrong piece. They had to order another replacement. When they replaced it the installer dropped his plastic clip tool inside my wheel well and it now rattles occasionally.\r \r Meanwhile I continued to call twice a day to speak to the owner about my melted center console, each time I was told he was not around but he would call me as soon as he returned. After a few days of attempting to reach the owner I decided to visit the shop and see if I could find the owner. When I arrived I was told me the owner was not there. I told them its okay I will wait. So I waited about an hour until closing time. At closing time Norman Newsome the owner came out of the back office, he was there the entire time, I saw him when I first arrived. When he introduced himself as the owner …I was a little shocked, it was the same man that told me the previous week that he would have to check with the owner regarding the damaged console. I guess he had to consult with himself on what he should do. When I asked why he was trying to avoid me he became arrogant and defensive. He said “I was going to offer you $50 but now I am pulling that offer you can sue me… that is the way I do business”. I thought that was a great idea and will consider his advice. \r more

Mobile Glass appears to be a co-op, a network of sorts. First and foremost, my windshield was replaced quickly and efficiently by Mr. Esparza - he knows his craft, and did the job with precision and professionalism. I've lived in the auto repair business, and this was not an easy piece of glass to remove and replace. He did it well, and paid attention to the details. The installation of the new windshield went as well as can be expected, and I have no complaints with the service, and would highly recommend Mr. Esparza. So, install and glass contractor aside, keep in mind that this appears to be a co-op/network. The jobs are solicited via the web, funneled in to a central office and parceled out to the contracted installers. The online ""quote"" tool is lacking, however. Sure, the tool gave me a quote. I received a call from a sales and scheduling agent soon thereafter, who told me that if I had the auto dimming mirror the glass would cost $70 more. They had me over a barrel, but the price was still reasonable, and I'm satisfied with the repair work at this point. That said, since I have contacts in the business, I'll be calling them to verify that there is a special piece needed for the front glass on my model as opposed to one without the electrochromatic mirror. I'll go from there. My review and rating could change accordingly. Bottom line? 1.) As in any business, the front line folks who do the work are the most important factor of Customer Satisfaction and can make up for other shortcomings. Mr. Esparza did a good job and was exceptional to deal with. 2.) I have a new windshield. 3.) The price was ok, but not what I was quoted originally by the online tool. See item #1. more

This business gets a big fat ZERO and should be reported to the BBB. They quoted one amount and charged another. When I called to confront them, they basically told me I was a liar and then they refused to acknowledge the quote they gave me. What a bunch of thieves!!! Stay away from this company and tell all your fiends and business colleagues NOT to do business with a company with such low morals and business ethics! more

I was originally quoted $209 to replace my windshield. The second time I called, I was quoted $299, but they brought it down to $249. Ok, that was fine, but I called on a Friday and they said they would have to order my windshield and could replace it on Monday. Monday was great because I was off that day. I get a call Monday morning, they SOLD the windshield they ordered for me and wouldn't be able to get another windshield until Tuesday afternoon. I said ok (even though this would have to be while I was at work) but would they be giving me some sort of discount, or even the original quoted price for the inconvenience....of course not. I prefer not to handle personal business while I am working so I told them that I would not be doing business with them any longer. They also informed me that the $249 they were holding on my debit card would be refunded within 24 hours....it has been 24 hours and it has not been refunded. more

I called Mobile Glass when I needed my windshield replaced since my car wouldn't pass inspection. They came out to my house the same day I called, replaced the windshield quickly and they were cheaper than any other place I called; good experience, would definitely use them again. I had a wonderful experience with Mobile Glass from the friendly and informative customer service rep, Norm, to the efficient installer, Esparza. My car was broken into at the gym late Friday night, and the car window was completely shattered which was compounded as I was scheduled to leave town the next day. I called to get a quote on the glass price and was impressed by the affordable rate, and how quickly they were able to schedule the glass repair. Esparza came to my house early Saturday morning to replace the window glass, and was done in less than an hour. These guys are great! Tim replaced my windshield at my home on saturday while I mowed my lawn! I didn't have to drive to their auto glass shop, the mobile windshield replacement service is awesome! I live close in Austin, but I work in Round Rock and they said they service both areas with mobile service. This made it super easy for me and I'm sure we'll use them again. These guys are super cool, call for a glass quote and get not only a cheap new glass part, but also a rewired radio! It's super cool that you guys got those speakers working again without me even mentioning it. Guess I left the radio on and the autoglass installer noticed the door speaker was out and messed with the connection or whatever and now it works like new! Came in from out of town with a fallen mirror. The manager Andrew Ode and another professional came out in the rain to our Acura MDX, one in each of the front seats, and diagnosed and treated our problem. I finally decided to pop for a new windshield after nearly about two years of driving around with a windshield broken. Same ole story, windshield rock chip from some pebble that flew up. Anyway I hate having to by a new windshield just because of a rockchip so I waited. But in this heat the rock chip spread all the way across the glass so I thought I should get a new one. Replacement was smooth, matter of fact I was inside working and only came outside to give them the keys and pay. Went exactly like you would want it to. One of the best auto glass repair shops I've used in Austin. Their staff is top notch. Gave me a quote at like 9pm on my windshield replacement and said they would call back in the am for a specific time to do the work. Called at 8am confirming the price for the glass.
