The Best! 3/30/2011

I have had nothing but quality care for my pets ever since I started going to Auburn Animal Hospital. The staff is great and they really care about your pet's well being! When we lost a dog due to complications during a surgery the staff and Vet were extremely empathetic and kind. I will never take my pets anywhere else! more

Not going back! 3/19/2011

I've been taking my puppy to get her shots here. They seemed friendly until the other day my puppy seemed very sick. It was about 3:30 when I called on a weekday and I figured I would still be able to be seen the same day. I called and was put on hold for 5 minutes and when they finally answered I told them I wanted my puppy seen that day and they said "What is wrong with her that is so important that she needs to be seen today" I ended up scheduling an appointment for the next day.\r I took her the next day and they did a parvo test on her. The test was $33 and it was negative. The vet then told me she still thought it was parvo. If I knew she was going to say it was parvo regardless of the results I wouldn't have paid for the test. They wanted to hopitalize her and said it would be around $600.\r I refused to pay so much since the test was negative and it couldn't be parvo, and I took her home and gave her pedialyte until she was healthy and back to normal. more

Would never go back 1/31/2011

I used Auburn Animal Hospital years ago, and left because of the rude office staff, and a poor surgery done by Dr. Utt when her hands were bad. I recently went back because a vet I liked at another practice was working there. Place had really expanded, more vets, more room. I WANTED to like this vet hospital - I really did. But, the rude office staff is still there, totally non-responsive. My minor complaint - I wanted to get a dog spayed, was told I had to bring in proof of vaccination before I could make an appointment. 90 mile round trip! Was told I could fax it, I faxed it, and it was completely ignored. 7 days later, they call and tell me I have no dog by that name, so they just didn't bother to contact me. Huh? I think I know what dogs I own.\r \r MAJOR complaint - I took a pregnant girl in for an xray since I was worried about a small litter and whelping problems - wanted to know how many puppies. It took almost 2 hours to get the x ray done, and to see it. They kept saying the m more

Good vet, horrible office staff. 12/6/2010

I've been taking my animals to this office for about 13 years. I primarily go because it's close to my house and the Dr. Utt has provided good care. The office staff is horrible. They are rude and insensitive. In particularly one woman that has worked there for many years. I've actually gotten into an arguement with her before where she screamed at me. If it wasn't for the care that my animals have received from the Vet, I wouldn't suggest anyone go there. more

Oy Oy Oy 11/17/2010

I have been going to this vet for a while now, and I never have had a problem with them. Dr. Utt actually put my cat on a diet the other vet who previously treated him should of put him on. I lost my cat of 15 and a half years in Jan. of 2009 and the staff was so understanding and helpful to me.One of the ladies even gave me a huge hug when I picked up my cat's ashes. They also washed the blanket my cat had been wrapped up in when I took her body there. From other vet's I have been to, this one is the best. more

Great vet--Good Boarding--Rude front office staff 7/29/2010

Dr. Utt was very nice to me and my two dogs. The office staff is rude, and I can say that I have been treated that way every time I've called or been in the office. For example, I stood at the front desk while 2 nitwits played with the TV. Then, one looked at me and asked, Yes? Very abrupt and rude.\r I did board my two dogs there in June 2010. The staff who works back there were very kind; especially an older lady. My dogs and I really appreciated her.I was pleased with the care they received and will board them there again. more

Put on hold and then told they were closed! 4/13/2010

I just called to make an appt for the Vet to look at my cat. I was put on hold for 5 mins., disconnected, and when I called back I was put on hold another 5 mins. I called back again and was asked if I could hold, when I said no I had already been on hold for the past 10 mins and need to know if the Vet could look at my cat who has a bad foot, I was told "Oh I'm sorry we are closing". Why couldn't they tell me that 10 mins before? So now I have to take my cat to the emergency room. Posting "hours of operation" on the website would be very helpful to new customers. more

The best Vet for PITS 3/25/2010

IOur family has been going to Auburn for 15 years. The entire staff is great. As a Pit Bull owner it is important for us that we have a staff that does not have fear or misunderstanding of this breed. We had our boy who past last Jan. with her for 14 years, he recieve the best care. She has always been kind and thoughtful not only to our animals but to us as well. She is the most affordable vet in town. She has gone above and beyond to help with Smokey during his illness and when it got to a point that he couldn't benifit from care she was compassionate and her staff was very kind. We have two other dogs now and they are treated just as well. She has never mussled our pits, which shows that she understands the breed. I tell our friends family and fellow Pit owners to go to her ! more

Best care, Best staff, they really care! 12/18/2009

I received amazing care at an exceptional price at Auburn. My 5 year old labrador retreiver had an ear hematoma that required surgery. The LA area vet I visited gave me an estimate of $998.00. I have used Auburn in the past and made a 100-plus mile drive from the Los Angeles area to have them do the surgery. Their price for the same surgery, meds, etc: $184.00!!! Every time I called, the staff was polite and helpful, even when very busy. The doctors were extremely patient and spent time explaining the procedure and follow-up care. I would absolutely recommend this office to you if you love your pets. more

A Friend to Companion Animals 11/19/2009

I have worked in animal rescue for many years and have worked with many vets, it's been my experience that vets that have great bedside manner care more about their business and making people happy than what's best for the animal. Dr. Utt has always been honest and not tried to "sell" unnecessary procedures or torture the animal with treatments that will not save the animal. Dr Utt may be moody at times and the office gets hectic but they have always done what was best for the animal and treated them extremely well. I had a cat that the previous owner had broken his leg, they went the extra mile to treat him. Johnny actually looked forward to going to the vet...and that's what I care about. more

Auburn Animal Hospital is Not good for boarding... 9/29/2009

I'll never leave my dogs there for boarding again.\r They stayed two nights and came home smelling like they were homeless with a stench that made me sick. Their little blanket I left with them was totally soaked in urine. It seems they were left to urninate all over themselves. Spent a total of $96 bucks and\r I assumed when pets are boarded they are taken out of the cages periodically. more

One of the Best 9/5/2009

Excellent have been going to Dr. Utt for the past 18 years. She is an excellent vet. We do not wait long when we have an appt. and when we are seen ,the pet quickly diagnosed and we have no unnecessary visiting time,. My time is important too. I don't recall her taking a vacation until very recently am sure a well deserved one. The staff are very busy and you do wait on the phone at times. I can understand that. For an emergency we were taken in immediately. Thanks to all in the office, Nancy more

Vets are good but the staff is horrible 1/16/2009

I've been taking my dog to Auburn for 2 years now. Dr. Utt is a great doctor - I think she really knows her stuff, and I think she is a good surgeon - my dog bounced back after emergency surgery.\r \r I agree with another reviewer that she can be very moody. She is great with dogs - but not so great with their human owners. The new doctor, Dr. Artero, seems much more personable.\r \r While the doctors are commendable, the office staff is severely lacking. When calling to make an appointment, I am usually on hold for at least 10 minutes - sometimes longer. Even with an appointment, I have had to wait in the waiting room and then the examination room for over an hour. At times, I have had to wait about 15 minutes after walking into the building before I have even been acknowledged. And, on my most recent visit, the staff's overly loud conversation was about hitting animals with their cars - not the most appropriate topic for an animal hospital. more

AuburnAnimal Hospital 7/17/2008

The wonderful ladies Debbie, Patti, Bethany, Bekah, Nicole, all ROCK they are very kind, compassionate, helpful and do their very best with all the clients, you can't please everyone all the time but these girls do their best to accommodate you and make your visit as painless as possible. Dr. Utt is a wonderful Dr. who cares very much for all her four legged friends, not so much a people person, but I would never take my pet to any other vet and if Dr. Utt ever retired it will be a very sad day for many people and their pets. more

Dr. Utt is Awesome! 6/30/2008

We have been taking out pets to Dr. Utt for a year now and find she and her staff are awesome. We have had some emergency situations wherein we were told, come right in we will fit you in.We recently had to "let go" of one of our "kids" and, again, Dr. Utt and her staff were totally there for us and helped our precious Sydney get to the Rainbow Bridge. They, obviously, felt what we felt and that, in and of itself, is a comfort. We have and will continue to highly recommend Dr. Utt and her staff to any and all who ask for advise on a good vet. more

We Love Dr Utt!! 8/21/2007

When I moved to Bakersfield and was looking for a vet, I went to several different hospitals. Back home I had used the same vet since my childhood, so it was difficult for me to find exactly the right fit. I called Auburn because that was who my inlaws had always used and took my cat it. It was an instant fit. I love the staff, especially Sally and Debbie and Dr Utt is wonderful. Always quick to answer my questions and return my phone calls. When one of my kitties was diagnosed with Stomatitis, Dr Utt went out of her way to figure out treatment options that would help him. She was scheduled to attend a veterinary conference and while there found time to get more information about the disease and called me when she got back to let me know the information that we had found out. When another of my kitties was diagnosed with fractures in both of his rear hip and leg bones, instead of telling us that he needed to be PTS she operated on him and now he is perfectly fine.\r Recently we had to p more

Great With Animals, BUT...... 4/22/2007

needs to better communicate with their human owners. Dr. Utt is one of the best, but she can be moody and somewhat short if too many questions are asked. She does wonderful with animals, by being gentle with them. You can tell that she truly loves working with them, and is not in this for the money.\r At times I have felt on the brink of tears, because of the lack of information that I have been given, or Dr. Utt promptly leaving the room before I have a chance to ask questions If she were as good inter-acting with humans as she is with their animals, then I would rate her tops. more

Very good vet 12/27/2005

This is where my friends have been taking their pets for years now. They do their best too accomodate you and your pet especially if your pet is uncomfortable about being there. They are reasonable priced and can work with you on finacial arrangements I believe for those that bring their pets. Anytime anyone needs a vet I tell them to go here they do a free consultation which is a great plus in their wonderful service. more

Wonderful service from Dr. Utt 11/27/2005

Dr. Utt from Auburn Animal Hospital is very nice & professional. I've never had to wait very long when I've gone their and Dr. Utt has always been very friendly and helpful when it comes to my animals. She doesn't try to push services that she knows we can't afford or won't do, but she does give you all the information, and I truly appreciate that. The front desk workers have been rude in the past, but on the whole, most everyone is very kind PROS: Dr. Utt is very knowledgable and kind CONS: The front desk staff has been a little snippy in the past more
