AKFSC offers a fine balance of martial arts techniques, philosophy, and professional Kung-Fu instruction that makes our training unlike any other in Georgia. Students, ages 6 and up, can enjoy the physical and mental benefits of getting in shape while learning the ancient art of self defense in a style of martial arts unique to Sifu Russel and the Atlanta Kung Fu & Sanda Center.
With roots dating back thousands of years to Tibetian Temples and the Shaolin Temple in China, the Chinese Martial Arts of Lama Pai & Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu offer a perfect balance of powerful techniques and philosophy rich in the traditions of respect and inner strength.
Becoming a well-trained martial artist capable of learning and excelling in the art of Kung Fu is HARD WORK! Sifu Russel has combined the traditional Kung Fu forms, self-defense techniques, and weapons training to make an unparalleled training program. Although we believe that martial arts in general is for everyone to enjoy, our school is exclusively for those who can demonstrate the discipline, focus, physical and mental demands as well as the time commitment required to succeed in our programs. If you feel this is the type of program you have been looking for, then we encourage you to learn more about what we are about, and have to offer.
In addition to our Kung Fu and Sanda programs we also offer Kung-Fitness. Similar to a Cardio Kickboxing class, you can enjoy the benefits of a fitness class while learning actual self-defense techniques. So if you’re bored by exercise machines and can’t face another aerobics class, you might consider putting some blocks, kicks and punches into your exercise routine. Some of the key benefits to Kung-Fitness are toning muscle, burning fat, increased energy, strength, stamina, self-confidence, and metal capacity. Not to mention you can burn up to 600 calories per one-hour class! . At AKFSC,we teach two styles of Kung Fu: Choy Lay Fut and Tibetan Lama Pai. Choy Lay Fut is a 10-animal style combining movements of the Tiger,Leopard,Snake and other animals into a system that emphasizes close range fighting, grappling, and throwing. In contrast,Lama Pai,which is based on the movements of the Ape and Crane,is an anti-grappling style that seeks to evade and strike an opponent from long range.
