My wife and I have been going to regular dentists for 50+ years w/o any issues of gum disease or bone loss. We recently switched to an HMO dental plan. My wife made an appointment for a routine teeth cleaning at Aspen Dental on Tyrone Blvd in St Petersburg. She was diagnosed with periodontal disease and bone loss. They want to treat her 3X per week for ~ $1000 per visit. I went to my appointment 3 days later for a regular teeth cleaning and was diagnosed with same problem. I told them I just wanted the regular routine cleaning that my insurance covers. After I told them my decision, I was railroaded out the door w/o seeing the office manager. They told me that my appointment was finished & I could leave, in a polite way. Very unprofessional office that has a up charge scam going. They will not clean your teeth for the procedure that you want. They will only perform an more expensive procedure that you do not want. I know that they get paid by the HMO insurance company whether I use them or not, so I will be changing the provider location this month so they cannot reap the profits. We all lost now. Stay away from this office and HMO dental insurance. I will now write this off to experience and look for a PPO insurance plan.
