One of the biggest in Chinatown 12/18/2005

Compared to the nice supermarkets on Washington Avenue and the one on Addams Avenue, this one is so-so. Yes, it is in Center City Chinatown. But it kind of smells and is dark. The place is not exactly immaculate. Also, the vegetables and fruits aren't the nicest I've seen. They are also not the cheapest. The dry goods look like they have been there for a while. A lot of canned foods already had thick layers of dust. This is really the only 'true' supermarket in Chinatown. They have a fish counter and even a butcher counter, and several checkouts. There is a food court. They are easily accessible. They are inside the "Chinatown Mall" under a parking garage. more

This underground supermarket is located in chinatown, and is very convenient compared to the bigger and better ones such as ASSI. It is much smaller, but they provide a good amount of variety, which is quite hard to get within the center city. Most other ones simply provide the same thing in 20 different brands anyway, therefore the only difference you'll probably notice is that there's less brands here. Other than that, the prices are good enough for their location, and is a good place to stop by. more
