My wife and I recently bought a kitchen table Oct, 2010. When we received it, it gyrated, not wobbled. Basically it's top heavy and not rigid enough to take the load. It was actually the delivery guys who pointed it out and said that their store model was not like this. We were hesitant to accept the delivery but did with the stipulation the delivery guys wrote up the description of the problem on the receipt.
The guys even told us to call to get the tech to come out and fix it. They said if they cannot fix it then they will replace it. We called within 5 minutes of delivery and then the Tech came out and saw the gyration but the corporate office said there was nothing wrong with the table and said we could neither get it fixed nor have it replaced.
I have not given up the battle and will take them to small claims court in the end with their receipt showing a defective product. Plus I will notify anyone I can of their deceptive sales. We have spent over 6K in the past year with them and they rather loose a customer over their own mistake and problem for a $600 kitchen table.
Originally we just wanted a replacement table, now we just want our money back and severe any ties with Ashley Furniture.
In the end, do not accept delivery if you see any damages at all otherwise you could be in the same situation we are in now!!
Update as of 11-2-10. No one from Ashley Corporate in WI or in GP or the Arlington Store has even attempted to contact us or return our call. This friday I will file with the Texas Attorney General. If you need help with your case, go to http://www.my3cents.com and view all the Ashley Furniture store problems.
Everyone needs to file with the Texas Attorney General and BBB, otherwise a gripe is worthless. My letter should be online on my 3cents website. I wished we had seen their feedback prior to purchasing anything.
