Food 4 stars, service 2 stars 6/24/2007

Recently we went antiquing on a Saturday morning and stopped in at the Ashland for lunch. We had been there some time ago and remembered the food being good. The food was still good, but we had a bit of a negative with service. Nothing horrible, just not as attentive as they could be. Our food came quickly but they never checked back to refill our sodas and we were almost done when the entrees were brought. When we really did need refills waitstaff was nowhere to be found, it wasn't until we were almost ready to leave we were able to get a refill. It was slow coming once ordered. Food service was quick though. I also don't like places that give you a receipt as soon as they bring your entree, just leaves a bad taste. Bad business practice too, discourages orders of coffee or dessert. Maybe it discourages lingerers when the place is busy, but that wasn't the case here - we got there at the tail end of the lunch rush. Almost full when we got there, but halfway through probably only four tables still active - making the lack of attentive service even more glaring. Food was good though. My friend has been there more than me and says she always likes what she gets. She did order fries well done and had to send them back for a second dunk. I saw a number of Greek specialties on the menu and figured if Greeks own the place that might be the best bet on the menu so I got a sampler and it was very good. Just need to step up the service a bit and it's a hit with me! more

Good stop when antiquing 4/10/2006

Ashland Cafe is a great place for brunch or lunch when you are hitting the Cockeysville antique stores. They have a big menu with breakfast served all day and tasty sandwiches and other fare availble in the late morning. Prices are very good, and the service is fast and friendly. You can get in and out quickly or you can linger over your meal. Buy a lottery ticket on your way out. Maybe you'll get lucky! more

Big menu, low prices 3/26/2006

Ashland Cafe is a typical coffee shop with one of those big menus that is mostly every breakfast combo under the sun, sandwiches and a few conventional entrees. The food is good basic stuff and the service is quick and friendly. Prices are low and they do takeout. A good place to eat before you wear your feet out browsing on Antique Row just a few blocks north. more

Best Breakfast Around 10/14/2005

I have gone to The Ashland Cafe several times for breakfast. It is by far the best served breakfast around. The Cafe is small, there is always a crowd, but the service is quick! The get you in and out without a terrible wait. They serve almost every imaginable breakfast item. You can order individual items or a combo breakfast which contains a variety of breakfast foods all of which are inexpensive. Everyone working at Ashland Cafe is very polite and very friendly. After going to the Cafe a few times you start to recognize the regulars which is nice because the restaurant creates a community. The most popular time to go is Saturday mornings. I suggest going as soon as you can! more
