The Art Bar 5/8/2010

I love going to the Art Bar. My girls and I go once every couple of months when we do our Providence Girls Weekend...I like the Art Bar because its 25 and older -- no little kids hanging out there....the crowd is mixed and the ages are mixed...the music is great with throwbacks and today's music...we have never gone there without having a great night..I highly recommend this bar. Pros: Mixed Crowd with different ethnicities and ages..great music Cons: None that I have ever experienced more

HORRIBLE!! 9/26/2009

my friends and i went to this bar to celebrate a birthday. we all are deaf and enjoy drinking and chatting and dancing. there were no signs posted saying that we were not allowed to take pictures, and this woman comes up and screams at us where we all were obviously deaf cuz we were standing around signing and all that. she then quickly walks off without even trying to communicate to us then comes back and screams at us again, when we finally get a bartender who wrote down whatever transpired between us and the woman, who we come to find out was the owner. everyone and everything seemed to revolve around the owner who was extremely rude, saying that what she says goes. WITHOUT any consideration to equal rights and whatnot. Cons: no pictures allowed, not deaf-friendly more

Great Place 12/9/2008

The Art Bar is A+. The music is fantastic. The drinks are great and the staff is wonderful. All must go. Note that it is 25+ Pros: Free Parking Cons: The night there went by too fast more

Comfortable, Relaxing, Fun!!!!!!! 10/27/2008

I am a outgoing, redhead who lovesssssssssssss to dance and this is my favorite place to go. I have been attending the Art Bar since I turned 25 and probably will till Im 105. The guys are great the music is hot and the drinks are tasty. i like that there is a dress code it keeps it clean so to speak. I highly recommend it!!!!! If you see me come over and say hi, youll know its me by the Margarita in my hand, the red long hair or on the floor all night usually the far side towards the back of the club. Pros: Cheap cover, good music, relaxed atmosphere and more... Cons: Getting to small for the amount of people going! more

love this place 10/25/2008

first off, the bartenders are all hot!! music is awesome!!! a little mix of r&b, dance and classics... the best part of this club is that they will not let anyone under 25 in the door.. i will be back!!! more

Don't go to the Art Bar 10/20/2008

My friends and I have gone to this club several times on a Saturday night. The woman owner of this club is rude and nasty, and she stands at the opening of the club looking down at everyone that enters her club. She always is unfriendly and thinks she is God when it comes to the dress code. She should look in the mirror, if she owns one, to she that she is dressed like an old lady. She always gives us a nasty look cause my friends and I like to dress to the 9's when we go out and she wishes she could pull off the outfits we can. I have watched her turned down people at the door that are very appropriately dressed. I can't imagine why anyone who is looking for a good time would step foot in the Art Bar. The Saturday D.J. must be in love with Stevie B. because every other song played is a Stevie B song. Since Stevie B. only has a few songs, they are played several times in one night even though the D.J. keeps announcing that it is a "All Request Night" Once in a while he will play one of our songs but we usually have to wait almost all night to hear it , but Steveie B. has been played over and over again. Maybe the old lady owner makes him play Stevie B. every so many songs because she is in love with Stevie B. This clubs get a "Two Thumbs Down" from my friends and I how disrespectful the woman owner was to us the last time we went in, we will never set foot in the Art Bar again, and I will make sure that anyone that I know nevers goes there either. There are too many awesome clubs in Providence to hang out in without having to go to the Art Bar and be disrespected. Whatever happened to the customer is always right. Without patrons paying the cover charge and spending money on drinks there would be no Art Bar. So Lady Owner you should have more respect for your customers because without us you are nothing but an empty club. Pros: Free Parking and Cheap Cover Charge Cons: The Lady Owner that plays God at the top of the stairs more

It's totally amazing anyone would go to this place... 10/17/2008

The place is a dump, and get this, it's a dump with a dress code. We were a group of 8 couples out to party and one guy was wearing black canvas shoes and they wouldn?t let him in (we loaded back into the limos and went over to the Top Hat, had a great time there) Inside the Art Bar it is just a big rectangular cave with no character or atmosphere and full of pretentious people including the bozo's who greet you at the entrance. If your into sleazy pick-up joints this is the place for you. Oh be careful, don't trip over someone?s cane or walker around the dimly lit edges of the dance floor. Pros: Plenty of parking if you get there early Cons: Lousy drinks more

One Word ... Ignorant! 10/14/2008

Loyalty goes right out the window when it comes to the owners of the Art Bar. The woman that supposedly owns 1/3 of this club is rude, disrespectful to her patrons and has no clue on the type of loosers she lets in to her own club. Her judgment is clouded by the younger crowd that goes here, not to mention for a club owner the woman has no sense of fashion whatsoever. And therefore, should NOT be so judgmental when some of the men show up in jeans, yet lets women in with flip/flops and shorts. This place isn't above any others in that area that Ms. High and Mighty should think she is better than anyone else, and that is just how she comes off. The other owners of this club should start to worry that they may loose their business because of her attitude ... There are plenty of other clubs in the area that are just as good if not better. Therefore, the next time I am in Providence to enjoy the nightlife, I will park my car in the parking lot next to the Art Bar and take my patron paying a$$ to the Prov ... Pros: Can't think of one Cons: Owner more

STAY HOME!! 10/14/2008

DO NOT GO TO THIS BAR! It's a waste of your time and money. It should say over 60+. First, the owner is a dried up old hag who obviously needs more excitement in her life. If you're riff raff , have been living under a rock for the past 10 years with no shower you'll probably be let in no problems. Your money is no good here nor is your loyalty. GO DOWN THE STREET TO THE PROV...!! Or better yet stay home, wash your hair or get a root canal. Pros: You're near other clubs Cons: OWNERS more

Best night spot!!! 4/23/2008

I thought the Art Bar was a great lookin bar very comfortable nice diverse croud, young and old. I'm from Boston and go to RI every year for my birthday. I went for my 44th birthday on a Sat night and had a BALL. Have to give my shout outs to the best bartender I've met in a LONG TIME "Jeff" he was on the money!!!! Took care of me very well. Not only him the staff was great. Joe the door man was cool had a great personality. I would highly recommend it to all but remember you have to be 25 to get in which made it nice..sorry for those youngsters under 25.. Pros: Greatest Bartender"Jeff" Cons: can't think of any more

Best Dance Music In R.I. 11/24/2007

If your looking to dance all night, then this is the place for you. From Stevie B. to the lastest club music, there is something for everyone. The Artbar has a walk into your parlor like atmosphere, where you can go an enjoy the evening without the fear of a fight breaking out at any given moment. Most of the people have been long time patrons of the club, and know each other. Will you meet Mister Right, probably not, but if your looking for a good dance partner for the night, there are plenty of those, and tons of smiles to go around. more

good time 10/4/2007

The ART BAR is a friendly place to dance and have a good time. If you think you are better than anyone else don't go there. There are no arrogant people wanted. The family at the ART BAR treats everyone the same. Go there with an open mind , the idea that you are there to have a good time will make your vist more fun and interesting. Most clubs are designed for singles but the ART BAR atmosphere is for everyone. Come to dance and have a good time . Judge for yourself. I think you will be pleasantly suprised. From the door staff to the DJ's there is something interesting about each of these hardworking people. Employees include a lawyer(Bar Staff), Pharmacy manager, ambulence owner, model, mom, dad, and more. They are everyday people who want you to have a good time. If Friday or Saturday night is inconvenient for you try Thursday or Sunday(my favorite night). The same great music and more room to dance. Drink specials are available on Sun. and Thurs. as well as a more relaxed atmosphere. Remember it is always 25+. Pros: fun friendly atmosphere, hot door staff Cons: some nights it is too crowded on the dance floor more

Run away! Run from this stale place that draws in an ignorant, far from classy desperate crowd 10/12/2006

Don't bother calling to ask about the dress code because you'll get sized up the leathery not so fab five and if she (or he, I couldn't tell) doesn't like you. It will wrinkle it's lips and shake its head and say "uh uh". The lack of grammar, sophistication, and simple courtesy makes Wal Mart a luxurious night out! Pros: Walking out Cons: Seems to be they are liars about the dress code more

great place for dancing. 7/18/2006

friday night dance hot spot . bring a smile and your dancing shoes and you will love it there. the people are down to earth and friendly a real crowd pleaser. Pros: meet all kinds of people there. i a real crowd pleaser more

Gross 1/11/2006

I was bored stiff .. music was lame... crowd was not impressive... (and that's being kind)...very disappointing more

Worst Club Ever 5/28/2003

In fairness, we decided to try this club again after a poor time about 6 months ago. Hard to believe, but it actually got worse. The staff is ok, and the drinks are fairly priced, but I cannot imagine a less cool place on the face of the planet. Bingo night at the local rest home would have a room full of cooler, and more interesting people. Avoid at all costs, unless you want to laugh your butt off. Pros: Attractive Cons: Staff, Crowd, Bathrooms more

Great Staff 1/2/2003

The best part about this club is most definately the staff. The same staff is always there, every night. I think the female bartenders are very attractive and my female friends think that the male bartenders are very good looking. The most important thing however, is the fact that the staff obviously enjoys working with one another. They are mostly all smiles and in laughter most of the night. It is a pleasant end to a week when we can go somewhere that the "worker" don't make you miserable. I think what keeps that place going as well as it is, has to have something to do with the great looking, happy, friendly staff. If you don't belive me, then go to other clubs and pay attention to the staff there, then hit this place and see the difference. Pros: good looking staff, happy staff more

Have fun with society's rejects!! 12/26/2002

We went after a happy hour to keep the night going. For a place that claims to be elitist and selective, they should step it up a notch. It was a divorcee's paradise! We had fun with the crowd though. We bet each other money and drinks to dance with the lame-asses on the floor. The funny part was how receptive they were to us! Desperation on their part really... more

  • In Short
This club is designed for those who wish to meet, drink and dance in a sophisticated setting. Overstuffed chairs, plush couches, and black velvet drapes lend a sense of elegance made even grander by the huge Victorian chandelier overhead. As DJs spin hits from the 70s onward, a crowd of mostly 20-somethings squeeze onto the color-changing dance floor as the high tech sound system floods the room with musical energy. An impressive marble-topped main bar plus a more intimate second bar keep neatly-dressed patrons hydrated and happy.
