Caring and accomodating 5/6/2010

We were visiting Colorado on a fun roadtrip with our dogs when the fun was stopped with a case of diarrhea in one of the dogs. Arrapohoe was great at getting us in right away for an appointment and helpful with directions and parking for us out-of-towners. Dr. Ralph was very kind and knowledgeable and put us and our girl at ease right away. She promptly got us a diagnosis after a thorough exam. Even when our dog made some horrible messes on the floor, Dr.Ralph kept her kind and welcoming demenor and great sense of humor that we and our dog really appreciated in our embarrasement! Thank you so much to everyone at Arrapohoe for helping get us healthy and back on the road! i would highly recommend them and if we are ever back in town in need of a doggie tune-up, we will be back! more

FRONT DESK 3/31/2010

We LOVE Arapahoe Animal Hospital!! We go almost daily for dog day care! The front desk staff is by far the most compassionate, friendly and informed staff at any office I have been to in quite sometime. I feel as though they are just as happy to see me as my dog even at 7AM! Always bright and cheery. A mix of funky Boulder dress and personality. It's nice to see an office that is not a cookie cutter front desk! Love 'em!! Pros: EXCELLENT SERVICE more

This place is a gem 10/14/2009

I ended up brining a very sick dog in, at last minute and the care that both of us received was amazing. Right away we discussed options AND costs. They understand that we as humans want to do whatever we can to ensure a high quality of life for our furry friends, but that we also have to have a quality of life ourselves.\r I cannot say enough good things about this place. They helped me to believe that not everyone is only concerned about the bottom line. Pros: Kind, Compassionate, Consciencious more

Wonderful people, wonderful care 1/15/2009

I can't say enough good things about Arapahoe Animal Hospital. The doctors, nurses, front-desk staff and kennel crew are all amazing. They have taken wonderful care of my animal family (a golden retriever and four sweet kitties over the years) for a long time now. They are who we turn to when there's a hurt paw, a sore eye, an odd cough....or when the dog swallow's the painter's cheesecloth...all three feet of it! They are the best! Pros: excellent care from the doctors, nurses, front-desk staff and kennel crew more

Rude! 10/5/2008

I was very disappointed with my visit to this animal hospital. I was a proud parent to a new puppy, who I happen to picked up from a breeder. I was NOT expecting to be judged and stereotyped by the vet (and apparently co-owner as well) because I was a young girl with a pure bred dog. He asked me condescending questions about how I got her and if I even knew anything about the breed. I felt like I had to defend myself by explaining how I had researched this breed for a few years and had studied up on the responsibilities of having a new puppy for quite some time....which I felt was not his place at all! I was very offended by the un-friendly manner he was speaking to me in during the visit, but kept my cool so that I could ask him of the questions I wanted to ask about having a new puppy...HOWEVER after he left to run a test, he never came back and an assistant came back into the room and told me I could leave. \r \r On the flip side, everything but the rude behavior of the vet was great. The receptionist and multiple assistants were very very friendly to me from the time I made the appointment and throughout the time I was in the clinic. The facility seemed clean and organized but I am for sure not going back there after the condescending conversation I had with the vet. ... especially not after paying over a hundred dollars for them to tell me nothing.... Pros: friendly support staff Cons: attitude of vet more

Excellent Care, Excellent Staff 5/28/2008

I took my dogs to AAH for over 5 years for both medical care and doggie daycare before I moved out of state. The care they provided to my "kids" was truly outstanding. The entire staff at the hospital - front desk staff, daycare staff, and the physicians - are the best it gets. Kathy and Sarah were always a pleasure to speak with at the front desk. Lisa took great care of my dogs in daycare. And Dr. (Barrios) Abbott was kind and gentle with the dogs and extremely thorough every single time they needed to see the doctor. I never left the office feeling my questions were unanswered. Dr. Barrios (and Dr. Myers or Dr. Hayes when we saw them) always followed up with calls when my dogs were having problems. If I left a message, they always called me back that day. They always put 100% effort into addressing my concerns. Also, if I asked questions (and I asked a lot), they never brushed off any concerns I had and were always willing to take the time to discuss them with me. The doctors at AA more

Great vet clinic 9/12/2006

I used to live in Boulder and I took my 35lb rottweiler mix dog to Arapahoe Animal Haspital. He was kind of a scared dog and he loved it there! The staff was always so nice and he never got worried when I left him there for boarding. The staff even let him play with the puppies during boarding since he still acted and looked like one (he was 3 yrs old). I now have a new puppy and I am finding out how lucky I was to have such a great vet clinic. I wish that I still lived in Boulder! Pros: Clean office, great staff and vets, good boarding at reasonable price Cons: none that I can think of more

Sedatives 7/24/2005

The receptionist was very nice and helpful. When the vet came in he prescribed sedatives for my dog who was flying on an airplane. I asked if it was OK to fly your dog sedated and he said yes. Well, I went to the airlines website to find out more information about flying and they do not allow dogs on sedatives. There is sometimes a bad reaction between the sedatives and the pressurized cabins. I think it is kind of scary that a vet would not know this information. more

.Caring Hearts and Caring Hands at Arapahoe Animal Hospital 5/17/2005

I first went to Arapahoe Animal Hospital when I moved to Boulder because I had a sick older cat. The first visit was great. The hospital is clean and decorated with pictures of client and employees pets. It doesn't have that antiseptic hospital smell that most have. My second visit was the defiining one. My cat was ill and dying. the Doctor and the technicians stayed late and did everything possible to calm me and my animal. Sadly I had to make a tough decision. Dr. Barrios walked me through the details, was responsive to my phone calls and calmed me when my decision was made. They made my cats passing bearable and kindly offered a clay paw print for me to take with me. Two days later I received a bouqet from the clinic. I believe the wonderful care they gave in this difficult moment is an indication of the care they give to the pets who are healthy and ongoing clients. PROS: Cinvenient Office Hours, Caring Doctors AND Technicians CONS: None more
