Horrible service. 8-10 years ago it was good, but now they wont match or beat any prices and the financing is poor and the extended warranties are worthless. The sales people need to go back to school to re-educate themselves. Some of the sales people there have very poor hygiene and dress like a very poor used car salesperson. I will never go back there again. They wasted my time. Do yourself a favor and do your own research and measuring. It will save you hundreds if not thousands on new appliances rather than give it to the smelly idiots at appliance world. more

Worst Service Ever 7/11/2011

Our new top of the line washer and dryer was defective out of the box. The salesperson and manager of Appliance World both gave us nothing but lip service. they did not return calls after promising they would ""talk to the manager and get back to me"". We got royally screwed by this company. Would never do business with them again. more

Once the best, now the worst 5/15/2011

I bought a Maytag washer there in the early 80's and a Maytag refrigerator in the mid 90's. Both experiences were great and I prefer to support family owned businesses. When my Maytag refrigerator died, I went straight to Appliance World. I worked with Wayne, who said he could get me what I wanted for a certain price. We had to leave before the deal was complete. When we returned, he was gone but Jason ""helped"" me. He ordered me not only the wrong color, but wrong model. Unfortunately, I didn't realize it till I got home. I called him. He said if I wanted a model without an ice maker (and water dispenser), it would be $70 more because it would have more cubic feet. I went on line, picked out a few models I liked that would fit into my limited space, and e-mailed them, requesting the price. (They don't list product prices on their websites.) Wayne left a message, saying the models I liked were discontinued but he could get me what I wanted for $70 more. Why would any reputable dealer keep discontinued models on their website? I also didn't like it that prices were not on their website. I ended up at a large department store my folks used. I will never return to Appliance World, even though it is family owned. A very frustrating, disappointing experience. more

Great Shopping Experience 10/8/2010

I purchased all new appliances for my kitchen. I was dreading shopping for them, but walked out of Appliance World with a smile. I was amazed at how much my salesman knew about the appliances. Everything got delivered today, and it was one of the best deliveries that I have ever had. I highly recommend Appliance World! more

Customer NO Service 10/8/2010

I bought a washer and dryer. It was delivered with muddy shoes all the way down my hallway and into the laundry room. The men made black marks on the laundry room walls with the hoses and also refused to turn the door on the dryer to open the way I needed it to open (small laundry room). I was promised a rebate that never happened. It is impossible to communicate because whoever it is you need to speak to is always ""Off"" that day. The Maytag washer squeals in the spin cycle and the dryer clunks after only one year. NO WAY I'D EVERY GO THERE AGAIN!!! They deserve NO stars but I can't rate that low! more

Great Price Great Delivery 8/31/2010

We needed a new refrigerator, we did our research and found that Appliance World had great prices and a great delivery team. After looking at the ""Big Guys"" we purchased from Appliance World. The day of delivery the team that came to our house was friendly courtious and did an overall great job. It was very hot that day and they needed to remove all the doors to get the refrigerator in the house, they were very professional and finished the job quickly, even in all the heat. The Fridge works great and we are very happy with our purchase. I would recommend Appliance World to all my friends and family. more

Nice to Deal With A Local Company - 1/16/2008

I was nervous after reading these reviews but I built a home with Kaerek and needed a whole house of appliances. I am the type of guy who prefers Ace over Home Depot or Omega over Chilis - but only if the cost and price are comparable. I wanted to go to Kennedy-Hahn (another local dealer) but found that they were gobbled up by American TV (not the local guy). I went to American and was treated as though my business was not important if the order was not over $5000 - but that is for another review.\r \r I went to Appliance World with what I wanted and I know that I went to the right spot. I worked with Bill and he showed me all the items that I was looking for and gave me an alternative for each one. With the alternatives, I would have spent $300 less (not more like at American). But because I liked what I originally had chosed I stuck with the original order. About 3 week later my items were delivered (I was offered next day service but my house was not done) and the drivers (Gil I remember) were great.\r \r Not only was the price $20 less for delivery than American, but they are employees of Appliance World (not contractors). One problem I did encounter was a dented door. I called the store and Bill was not available. The store manager Ryan answered and took care of the issue. The manufacturer covered the repair as concealed damage and I incurred no cost - just 1/2 day off of work. Thank You for a great experience ...but now about the builder... Pros: Local Dealer with great selection and prices Cons: location in city - had to travel 20 mins more

Service? Not Here - just as bad as the quality of their products 10/6/2007

Going on 2 weeks trying to get the damaged stove they delivered fixed. They told me Thursday that they would deliver a new one on Saturday and call that morning to verify. Took off work, waited, got no call, and ended up calling them mid morning - was told that it was out to be delivered in the afternoon. No one showed, no one called, tried calling them and they are closed. In trying to get their number online, I found out they really have quite a reputation for poor service and products. Buyer beware! Pros: Low prices Cons: Poor service and goods usually damaged - hard to get them to correct it. more

Great customer service 9/18/2007

My parents and grandparents always bought there appliances from Appliance World but I figured what do \r old folks know anyway, soooo I went to several of the big chain stores like American, Sears and Lowes.\r Finally, I went to Appliance world just appease my folks. I am sure glad I did! I worked with Barb and she \r was fabulous. She was knew her stuff and was even able to save me money over what the supposed ""discounters"" offered. When the appliances were delivered, the delivery crew was prompt and \r curtious and I love my new appliances! I guess my folks were right after all. It just goes to show, there is \r a reason why this family owned, neighborhood retailer has been able to sucessfully compete with the ""chain"" retailers. I would highly recomend! Pros: Parking is close to the door more

No new appliances here 3/12/2007

Last Aug I purchased a GE front load washer from Mike at appliance world in Germantown.\r I bought it over the phone with a credit card. I live 5 hours away and could not pick up the washer right away. He said he would take good care of it, that it was new and only had a scratch on the front of it. A month later my son picked up the washer. I had him do it because I knew he would take good care of it, he's extremely carefull with such things. When I saw the washer I called Mike and told him that it was to damaged to even hook up, that it was not new but used. The water intake was rusty, the screen clogged, 6 dents in the service door that the drum must have dented, dents and scratchs everywhere.\r He said he would contact someone and call me back. No call. I kept telling the story to people there but no one ever calls back. I'm told there busy, call Steve, but he's busy too. Why tell me to call someone and tell me he's to busy to talk to me. \r Finaily I just canceled the charge I thought if they didn't have there money they would have time to talk to me. Not so. . They never gave me a reciept so the credit card co. kept asking me for more information a reciept. After months Capital One said they couldn't help after months of answering there letters and hours on hold. So much for whats in my wallet.\r Talked to Steve he sounds like a telamarketer, he won't take the washer back, its been to long, said we damaged it ourself and would not belive that I did not use it. He said I should have done something right away. I did, but not easy if they won't talk to you\r \r He said they don't sell used appliances, don't you belive it. Even GE knows it, they sell junk that is suppose to be fixed to work when you buy it. I have now paid $580.00 for a washer that I have never hooked up and will have to pay to junk it. Plus, I got insulted by some little creep that can't get a better job.My advise is to stay away from Appliance World more

Avoid buying anything from Appliance World 12/20/2006

Purchased a stove from Appliance World in Germantown, Wis. on Dec 8, 2006. Four days after I had the stove and had used it twice - turned the oven off and heard a popping sound. I could not determine where it was coming from. I realized it was coming from the oven. Oven was turned off. Kept hearing the noise and opened the door and tthe inner glass on the oven door had shattered. Contact the Germantown store where we purchased the stove. Received a phone call from them the next morning. I was told to contact GE or the District Manager. Why should I contact GE that should be their job. They said there was nothing they could do. Contacted GE and was told due to the holidays it would be 3 to 6 weeks before they could do anything. Contacted Steve at the Milwaukee store (414) 281-4700. Told him GE said 3 to 6 weeks and he said, ?Let me call them?. He calls back and says They will be shipping me a new door the next day, which would have been Dec. 15th. If not , definitely by the 16th. Today is the 20th and still nothing. I called Steve on Monday - not there. Contacted GE and was told that Steve knew the product could not be shipped out overnight. She tracked the delivery and said it was in route and would be delivered on Dec 19th. Never got anything so I called Steve ? AGAIN. I have not heard from him. I stopped in at the store and told them I wanted something done immediately. I spoke with Jeff and he called GE and was told the part had been shipped and I should be receiving it on the 19th. He told me when I receive the parts to bring the door in and he would fix it. It was my understanding from Steve that I would be receiving a whole new door. Jeff told me if I didn?t receive the glass that he would do something to get the door fixed. I called this morning and they are going to have to order the glass from GE. Well this is what I have been waiting for. Never purchase anything from Appliance World. more

Good and Bad 8/31/2006

The absolute worst. We purchased two appliances here. When one was defective within warranty, Amana replaced it. But getting Appliance World to deliver it has been a nightmare. Two weeks we've been without a frige. They had the frige in stock, and we wanted it delivered before Labor Day. But Jason told us that they were busy with other deliveries, but he'd try to change the delivery date and would call us back. As is the custom for ALL AW employees, he NEVER returns phone calls. It seems everyone there has a chip on their shoulder. So, I called and he told me that our frige wasn't in stock (complete fabrication), and that it would come in just in time for Tue. delivery. Since no one called me on Tue w/any info, I called AW only to get more attitude. It wasn't scheduled that day for delivery and no one had the courtesy to call me. I had taken off work. Jason said again that it wasn't in, and offered no apology. I asked him to put us down for morning delivery the next day (I have class at night). The next day was the only option given. I called Wednesday a.m. to check, as instructed. Guess what, I'm #9 of10, late afternoon. When I got Jason on the line, he told me it wasn't in yet. So I called another AW location and talked to Jeremy. Guess what? The frige model was sitting right in their warehouse (and had been all this time). He told me the price, which included free delivery and set up. I had him call the warehouse just to make sure it was in stock. I can't help but think my treatment by AW employees at the Layton location is anything but deliberate, to spite me for being persistent in following up. How would these people like to be 14 days without a frige? Stay away from this business. Pay the extra few dollars and go somewhere else. The headache you save will be worth every penny you would have saved at AW. Pros: Prices, Brands, Variety Cons: No Returned Calls/Follow-thru, Attitude, Inappropriate Social Skills more

The product I wanted in stock, fabulous price. 6/15/2006

I wanted a Maytag Gemini Double oven. I checked around for price and availabity. I saw an ad for the low end model at Appliance World, so I called and asked about my model. I was given a more than fair price, a convenient delivery and I never had to step foot in the store. It arrived on time, the guys were cordial, and the oven is perfect. I'm planning to find the fridge I want, and order it from Appliance World, again, without stepping foot in the store. (It's an hour from me.) Lowe's, & Home Depot are both nearby, but Appliance World beat their prices, and delivery. HD cannot deliver on time. AP even beat a price I found on the internet. more

We don't value our customers 2/21/2006

We were treated very well in the store when our family bought 3 mid-grade appliances. This is where the customer service ended. The wrong appliances were delivered, after several phone calls and 3 weeks, we finally received our products, but one was damaged. This occurred 3 months ago. Currently we have called several managers, store personnel, repair companies, etc. I would estimate about 50-80 phone calls have been made total, with no response from appliance world. We were treated extremely rudely at delivery and have been promised several times that our appliance will be repaired. Every person we've talked to has made promises of calling us back or contacting the repair company. We are still waiting for the repair to be completed. I have never been treated so poorly by any company and I would strongly discourage anyone to shop there. I will never again buy anything from appliance world. more
