Ancora is a whole New York experience 12/4/2008

Ancora is not just a good restaurant with good food, it is a New York experience even for us NY locals. Upscale but not stuffy or formal. Ancora is worth the price you pay - from the complimentary appetizers, to the custom prepared dishes and impeccable service. I frequent Ancora a few times a month because you are treated like a king and they will make you anything you request. Do not go if you are looking for a cheap meal - go if you want a New York experience with great food to boot. Pros: Great food and impeccable, personal service Cons: pricey more

DONT BOTHER 10/17/2007

Went there twice and both times was a failure. Very Pricy and the portions were very small... The waiter tells you what to eat. You dont have a choice.. very pushy. Would never go back there again Pros: very pricy and very pushy more

An Italian Restaurant the way it should be. 4/5/2007

if anyone likes Real Italian Food in a Real Italian Restaurant, This is the place to go. Its a little pricy but hell this is NY, you get what you pay for. I took my girlfriend here recently for a romantic dinner after work. The service was unbelievable. My glass never was empty. Water was constantly refilled and so was my wine. I never had to ask the waiter for anything, he asked me before I had the chance to look for him. And the food, Forget about it! I had Penne ala Vodka that was absolutely outrageous. My girl had Chicken Parmesan which she didnt shut up about the whole night, and she finds things wrong with everything. i definately reccommend this place to anyone who appreciates unbelievable food and unbelievable service. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

Excellent! 3/17/2006

My boyfriend and I enjoyed such a fantastic meal at Ancora this past Friday. The service was perfect and our dinner was exactly what Italian food should be. I am so happy we found this resturant downtown. Pros: Service, Food Cons: Location more

Best Italian Restaurant in the Area 2/6/2006

Everyone I know that has eaten in Ancora loves the service and the food. The staff is friendly and service is very professional and very prompt. Even though the place is always busy, you're treated like they really appreciate your business. The food is great and rivals any of the top Italian eateries in NYC. My only complaint is the acoustics ... the main dining room (downstairs) can get very noisy. Pros: great food, excellent service Cons: noisy more

Awesome place 7/26/2005

This place is awesome. Great italian food - by far the best in the financial district. Amazing service, almost bizarre how good the service is. i live down there and its a bit too pricey to eat there all the time. great food though. Pros: food, service Cons: too expensive more

Excellent! 6/23/2005

Very attentive service and excellent food. They will make you anything you want if they have the ingrediants, and you will love it! Freshest of meats and seafood. Recommend the stuffed calamari, shrimp and crab stuffed ravioli, steaks, veal marsala, veal chop, and everything else. Comfortable atmosphere/environment with well spaced tables, excellent bar, very friendly attentive restaurant. Good for groups, or intimate settings. Highly recommend!!! Pros: Excellent Food, Excellent Service more
