I've lived here for 2.5 yrs.Prior to 4 mo. ago I would have left this apartment complex a wonderful review. However, 4 mo .ago the management company changed to a new company (Riverstone), & now the complex horrible & has RUINED what used to be a good complex. PRIOR to the change, you could pay rent online.Also, for the required renters insurance-if yours expired, the office staff called & said ""hey your policy expired, send us your new one."" SINCE the change to Riverstone the following changed.
1. You can only make ONE online payment per mo. for rent. This is fine if you live alone, but if you have roommates btwn you and ALL of your roommates ONE PERSON has to pay rent online. No joke, if you have a 4 bedroom apt 1 person now has to pay the ENTIRE sum of the rent for the whole apt, and everyone else has to transfer money through their bank to that one person. I couldn't believe it either but they now require one payment PER APARTMENT. Ridiculous. So inconvenient.
2. Prior to the mgmt change, the office staff was so nice and called if you accidentally let your required renters insurance expire.Today I got a notice from riverside. Apparently in NOVEMBER they noticed they did not have one of the sheets from my renters insurance that does not expire for 6 months. Instead of calling me, THEY AUTOMATICALLY ENROLLED ME IN AN INSURANCE POLICY BACK IN NOVEMBER. I got a noticeTODAY informing me of this. What the heck? Apparently now a computer detects if something is lacking on your policy automatically enrolls you in a renters insurance that is expensive, & doesn't tell you until 2 monthslater.
3. After the change to the new mgmt group, it took them almost THREE months to get any sort of halfway working website up. Meaning, during this time we could not pay our bill online, put in maintenance requests, or do anything else. Now that they have a ""website"" up it is basically non functional. Last month for rent when me and my roommate tried to submit our ONE rent payment the website kept telling us there was ""zero balance"" and would not let us pay. We were both out of town so call to ask about this and they tell us something is wrong with the website and we will have to drop by a check. We tell them that we are both out of town and won't be back until after the 3rd when rent is due and they TRY AND CHARGE US A LATE FEE!! Seriously' The website wouldn't let us pay anything online, and they want to charge us a late fee because we are out of town and unavailable to bring a check to the office.
4. On the old website, it told you how much you owe for water/trash every month (you pay this amount to the apt complex). We don't get paper paper statements & relied on the website. Now, the website doesn't tell you how much you owe. You have to call the office EVERY SINGLE MONTH to find out how much you owe for your trash/water bill. Just another task that is very inconvenient and used to be sooooo easy!
Prior to the change in mgmt companies I love love LOVED this apt complex. I told all of my friends how awesome is was and how great the mgmt was (seriously it was so wonderful). Now, I can't wait until my lease is up at the end of June. Before, I referred TONS of people here & my selling point was how great the staff was. The people who work in the office are the same & are wonderful, but unfortunately they have no say in how the complex is managed. I'm sure they get yelled at at least a few times each day for the reasons I've listed above. When I complained about having to make a single rent payment per apt they said ""yes, I'm sorry other people have complained about this too. We have 4 bedroom apts where 3 of the roommates have to pay 1 roommate. We've told Riverstone multiple times about this. We are sorry but there is nothing we can do""
I've actually been traveling for the past few moI HAVEN'T EVEN BEEN LIVING IN MY APARTMENT AND IT IS A PAIN IN MY @$$. Whoever was in charge of this transition did a horrible job and should be fired.
