Went to this restaurant about two months ago. Anyways the restaurant looks beautiful. The food was okay and the prices were high. The place was beautiful and spacious and unusual...

Poor restaurant 2/4/2011

The hotel itself is beautiful. Bartenders were top notch. The waitress was young and inexperienced, but I think she did a good job with the mess that was being sent out from the kitchen. two orders of seared Fois Gras were both over done. Friends duck was cooked to death also. Had to send that back. I ordered bouillabaisse and got the thick heavy cream sauce that tasted/looked like a Stroganoff, not the light saffron tomato broth as the menu described. it was so thick that If I scooped some up with my fork and turned it over it would just stick there. Others in our party complained of cold food. Like I said the server tried to make up for it but she was getting no help from kitchen. They need to clean house in the retaurant (kitchen) and start fresh. more

Best Hotel in New York Allegria Long Beach 1/9/2011

This hotel sits right on the Atlantic Ocean up against the Long beach Boardwalk (2.2 miles long).\r The beach is very deep with plenty of room and sand like fine white sugar.\r The hotel is open 365.\r The hotel has all the emenities you could ask for.\r The bar is several feet away from the boardwalk and at sunset you look right and see an unforgetable image.\r The staff is friendly and can't do enough for you.\r Remember to book early since the swimming and beach season is only 10 weeks long. June through September. Thats 20, Friday and Saturday nights.\r The price is lower Sunday through Thursday of course.\r There is surfing, Beach Tennis Tournaments, boogie boarding, fishing, jogging, biking, volleyball swimming, bikini watching and many other things to do on the beach.\r Enjoy we always do... more

No Way Jose! 10/9/2010

This place was not in any way what the few positive reviews say it is.\r I found the staff to be rund and inexperanced and the food to be mediocre at best.\r I found this place to have high prices and low quality in their service\r And to add to this, the price they get for parking was ridiculous more

Chef Gordon Ramsey would have had a heart attack if he saw t 9/26/2010

Let me start by saying something nice, this place is absolutely beautiful especially the outside of this hotel where it has beautiful lighting somewhat like a Las Vegas resort. (I'm sure the people living near by wouldn't agree)\r But there is where the nice part ends. I have not stayed at the hotel but have eaten at their restaurant twice, the second time was a bigger disappointment than the first.\r Yes the place is decorated beautifully. It has the look of a luxury resort. However, the management and staff are absolutely lacking in customer service. I'm not sure what the problem is, but it sure was evident during my experiences there both times. .\r The first time I was very impressive by the looks of the room, it was flashy (perhaps a bit over-done, but flashy never the less) . We were a of four, and each one of us complained, not only once, twice, or three times but constantly, throughout our dining experience. If it wasn’t one thing, it was another the service was truly poor to the extent of being laughable. After waiting for almost an hour, I was finally served my salad which was not at all what the menu indicated. Instead of the ingredients listed on the menu, all I got was grilled chicken and romaine lettuce. Not even one drop of dressing. After complaining, I waited another 20 minutes before I got the run of the mill ordinary store bought dressing. The small order of fish was dry and much too much overcooked. With one glass of wine each, the bill, for two, came out to $125. Before the tip. We would have been better off going to the diner on the main street of Long Beach, our meal would have been more enjoyable and much cheaper. The waitress was young , and inexperience as the rest of the help there seemed to be and obviously not responsible for what was coming out of the kitchen. However, everyone was complaining to her. I actually felt bad that everyone was taking out their frustration on her. I don’t think I saw a happy customer there as far as the eye could see!! Chef Gordon Ramsey would have had a heart attack if he saw the service here.\r It’s such a shame, I’m sure there was big time bucks put into this place. . Hopefully, in time, they will get their act together. But for now, in summary head to your local diner for a better dining experience \r more

BEST NIGHT EVER WITH FRIENDS 8/23/2010

I recently had a surprise 40th for my husband at the Allegria, and it was STUPENDOUS. I don't even know where to begin...\r \r The fireplace area was fantastic & beautiful! My guests loved the area. Thought it was a great choice. \r \r The service & staff were MARVELOUS. The servers were conscientious, quick, thorough, & one step ahead of my thoughts. We never had to wait for a drink. They were constantly asking or serving. The hors d'eouvers were delicious! My guests raved about how tasty, and of course, the quantity. I was told they would constantly be passed around, and the servers did a great job of that! Everyone was full by the end of the night..and on hors d'eourvers!! \r \r I had several pregnant, including me, women, and those that do not drink at my party, and what a special touch to have a specialty menu of non-alcoholic drinks. My guests were THRILLED, and thought it was thoughtful & personal touch. \r \r We brought in our own dessert, however, the servers did a great job of tiering the cupcakes, which was a great idea. They even had candles (which I forgot)!! \r \r I truly believe you get what you pay for. And we got all that, AND more from hotel! I can't help, but RAVE to everyone what a MEMORABLE night the hotel helped us have!!!! \r \r \r more

Not the best place that I've ever been to! 7/15/2010

I wasn't going to write this review, but considering this is my second bad experience here, i feft I had too.The setting of course is gorgeous...After reading the reviews we were expecting much more.... BUT!\r The Food and the service here was awful! And the prices were higher than what they should be for the quality of food..\r \r The crowd here also is what might be called typical Long Island/Queens. Lots of Juiceheads, tight t-shirts, fake hair and...you get the idea. Always fun to see though what drugs can do to the human body.\r \r Pros: Not many, except for the view Cons: The Food and the Service! more

Poor Service and the Food Needs Work 6/24/2010

It's a shame that the service and the food were so poor here. The place itself was very ""nicelooking” flashy but nice, but no you can’t eat the looks. \r \r The wait staff was not very busy, yet they did not really pay attention to us. We were smushed at a tiny back table, forgotten. When they did remember, they took the order and ran away. So we had to wait until the food to come to order a drink. When we wanted to order a second drink, we flagged him down after five minutes of waving, and he asked if we wanted the check. No, we wanted another. When we did want the check, we may as well have been competing in a new Olympic event of waving and flagging. Pros: Nice looking but Too Flashy Cons: Service and Food more

Clean Modern Beachy 6/1/2010

First oiff let me start by telling you that I DO NOT work at the hotel nor am I affiliated with it in any way. Seems the negative review people have some sort of conspiracy theories. I was recently a guest at a wedding at the Hotel. \r \r First- Cocktail Hour\r Service was excellent. Food was unique and very tasty. This is not your run of the mill Long Island Catering hall. Having grown up on Long Island and having attended my share of weddings this place has broken the mold. No pigs in a blanket at this place!\r Many of the guests were from CT (as am I now) and they were extremely impressed on how well this hotel is laid out. \r \r Second.-First Course.\r FOOD FOOD And More Food. Wow you will not go hungry here.\r \r Third Main Course-\r A wide variety for everyone. A+++\r Food was delicious. Server was there every time I needed a drink etc. Service was so good that someone at my table is now looking to get married there. \r \r My wife and I loved it, as did many others!!! We will be back for sure!\r \r What scares me is that all the negative reviews point out that the positive reviews are employees etc? \r After having stayed there for 2 nights we kind of get the impression that its the other way around? \r \r \r Anyways great place. Pros: Fantastic Food, Great Summertime drinks Cons: Fishy Reviews more

Not Impressed at all. 5/18/2010

The service was very very rushed. very loud hard to have a conversation.\r \r I've noticed a lot of glowing reviews here about this place , I wonder what's to stop the staff members from writing them, themselves? They all seem to follow negative reviews... seems a bit suspicious too me. Why would anyone put any faith whatsoever in something so obviously not credible.\r There is a fine line between efficient, and overbearing. Here we found neither...when wine glasses are removed before you are finished, when plates are taken when only some at the table are finished the course, and when on three occasions the wait staff had to be told a guest was still eating ,the service comes under the category of overbearing. when charging city prices I expect city service. when taking us to our table from the bar area have a staff member carry our glasses!!!!! We found we were rushed to finish.\r The most notable findings was the decor, which is very lovely and chic but the noise level was overbearing . We could not have a conversation. If you want an intimate place to dine, this isn't it. We wanted to take our time and wait before ordering but the waiter who was very pushy didn’t allow us to. He kept asking over and over again “are you ready yet” Yet I had to hunt down our server for drink refills. All and all, it was average at best. Waiter didn't know the menu, some portions were cold, The food was only decent, but prices, service, food, noise, were not acceptable in my opinion.\r We did not have a good experience at this restaurant. Our reservations were for 9pm and we had to wait over 30 minutes for our table. The noise was so loud you could not talk. I ordered the calamari that tasted more like chicken then fish. The fish was dry. The side dishes were good and service was only fair.. Pros: None at the restaurant, but the hotel was really nice lookin Cons: Poor service and food prep. more

Ocean-Front Dining in Long Beach 4/13/2010

Having lived on the ocean in Long Beach for over twenty years I eagerly awaited the day we would have an ocean-front restaurant. The restaurant is here, but it's a huge disappointment. My comments here are solely regarding the restaurant and do not reflect any aspect of the long delayed opening of the hotel and it's spa (still not open). The decor is beautiful, however that's where the complements end, The staff was unprofessional and surprisingly unfriendly, no smiles were found here. Since we were two people and our table was set for four, our server cleared the extra settings and in putting them away, he wiped off a fork before placing it back in the drawer after it had fallen to the floor. A dinner for two was rather pricey at $160, especially since only one of us had any drinks. Both of us ordered soup, which was both hot and cold at the same time, indicating that perhaps it had been micro-waved prior to being served, A shared appetizer of calamari was greasy and average at best. One of us ordered Fillet Mignon that was a special, only to comment that there was nothing special about it at all. The accompanying vegetables and potatoes were sparse at best. The scallop dish was also disappointing, not having much flavor and the portion was somewhat around the size of what one would see as an appetizer elsewhere. We had to ask for bread to be brought to the table and our water glasses were not refilled unless we were able to track down someone to do it. Such a lack of service was odd when you consider that the restaurant was almost empty, with only three tables of guests at 7PM on a Sunday evening. Perhaps that speaks for itself. Long Beach finally does have an ocean-front restaurant, the only problem is that it's not very good at all.. Pros: Decor, Views Cons: Lack of Service, Mediocre Food, Pricey more

Wedding Review 4/11/2010

I went to a wedding here last night and the place was Awesome! My husband and I and a bunch of other coupes could not believe how beautiful this venue is. Lets start with the food. A++ My husband kept commenting to me about how great everything tasted This is not your run of the mill wedding hall with pigs and blankets. The main course was delicious. The service was great. Bartenders were very professional as well as the wait staff. We danced all night long. Had to be the best wedding I have been at in years! We were all extremely impressed!! This place is going to rock all summer! We will be back Pros: Fantastic Service/ Outstanding Food more

THE FOOD AND THE HOTEL ARE SPECTACULAR!!! 4/9/2010

We had Easter Dinner here last week and it was AWESOME!! Chef Todd Jacobs is the best. We are so excited to have him in our town! The Tierra Mar was great but this place is fantastic. The apps to the dessert everything was top notch. The people in the hotel could not be any nicer. We love it. 12 of us !!! We cannot wait for summer!! Welcome Chef Todd Jacobs and BRAVO to the Allegria! Pros: FANTASTIC FOOD AND GREAT SERVICE more

The food was only ordinary, the price's were expensive. 4/9/2010

Went to this restaurant about two months ago. Anyways the restaurant looks beautiful. The food was okay and the prices were high. The place was beautiful and spacious and unusual. The service was not the best I've had. The waiter ""forgot"" our wine and although he apologized he then had to be reminded to bring the coffees we ordered-- The food was only ordinary, the price were too expensive. The food was sparse on the plate. The type of crowd there was the type that wants to be seen and they show it. I can't stand going to anyplace up where a majority of these people frequent. This is one foodie that was not fooled by the hype! The food was from ok to only fair..., Pros: Not many food wise, But the room was georgous Cons: The food was only ordinary.. more

My Wedding at the Allegria was Awesome!! 4/7/2010

I recently had my wedding at the Allegria Hotel and it was fantastic. The hotel is clean modern and sleek. The cocktail hour was held in the lounge and the food was spectacular. The ballroom is open and airy. The food for the main course was great!! I love this place!! My family can't stop talking about it! My cousin is thinking about getting married here!! Its not for everyone however there is a lot of us that love it!! Pros: Everything Cons: Neighbors making up rumors more

Was Not Impressed 4/7/2010

We went there with the highest of expectations for a special night with my whole family for my fathers birthday and it wasn't at all what I expected. It started out on a bad note as they had listed us for an earlier reservation and snidely told us that we had lost our table because “WE” had arrived late, although the reservation had been confirmed!!!!! Everything was great except for the food. The bar was well stocked and very pretty, although I agree with another reviewer, the bartender was a bit short with us... To my dismay, the food was sub par. The food overall was rather bland. The best part was my 1st course, we shared calamari for a appetizer. it was very good but a little rich. My second course was blah (i cant think of any other way to describe it) dessert was the same. The service was not at all attentive... leaving us wondering most of the time if they had forgotten about us or the food which was served barely warm each time\r The fish was overdone when it was ordered rare. It was rubbery and tasteless. It had a very enchanting decor. I was extremely disappointed. was not satisfied with the experience they gave us for well over 400 dollars not including tip. At least I tried it, but I wouldn't go back. \r Pros: Look Looking Place Cons: An unexpected disappointment more
