reading all these bad reviews would have made me run if i had not eaten there this place is great food is great, the decor is nice and the service is good. Y ou want some one to kiss your privileged booty go to the brown palace I'm sure they will for $20 a plate or more. People need to understand that when you treat some one horribly for a minor mix up or no reason at all and they only get paid $7.28 an hour they may stop being so nice. more

Mediocre food, HORRIBLE service!!! 8/6/2010

Simply put... the food is certainly NOT authentic and mediocre at best! We've been twice and both times the owner/server was extremely rude and had zero personality to boot! After needing beverage refills and finally getting his attention after about 20 minutes he literally shouted across the restaurant to us, ""yeah, what do you need?"" Needless to say. we were shocked! Like idiots we proceeded to order dessert but when it arrived the bottom was so burnt that it was unedible. After bringing it to the server's attention he got noticeably offended and did NOT offer to replace it and had the nerve to charge us for it even though it sat on the table uneaten! Bottomline... if you are looking for REALLY good Mediterranean/Middle Eastern cuisine take your business to Tzatziki's in Greenwood Village - tzatzikis dot com. The food is delicious and you will be blown away by their service! They put ""Mr. Baba"" & his cohorts to shame! I will *NEVER* go back to Ali Baba's and am referring ALL my friends and family to my newly found replacement. Take my advice and save your money for people who actually appreciate your business!!! Thank you. more

No idea what ""service"" means. 2/26/2010

This used to be such a great restaurant. The food is really good, unfortunately the lack of service...or maybe I should say the really, really bad service, makes it hard to enjoy anymore. My personal opinion is that the owner needs to step back in and get involved again to bring it back to what it once was, because the young men that appear to be running it these days just don't care. \r \r Golden needs this restaurant - but we need it to be what it once was again. Sad that it has gone downhill so much and so quickly. Pros: Good Food Cons: Awful Service more

Great Way to Lose 10 Pounds! 9/14/2009

The first couple times I ate at Ali Baba's was great. The service and food were both top notch. Unfortunately, the last time I ate there, I became violently ill and had to go to the emergency room after becoming dehydrated from bowel movements, etc. I called the restaurant to let them know something was wrong with their food, and they offered me two free meals. For some reason I decided to pass on the offer and haven't been back. Pros: The Food Tastes Great! Cons: The Food Will Make you Sick! more

Nice Little Middle Eastern Gem!! 2/19/2008

My brother-in-law is Persian, so I know something about this type of food. This restaurant is a nice little gem that is hidden because of it's off-the-beaten-path location, but the food is great, the service is very good, and the atmosphere is really excellent (especially the room next to the main dining area that is decorated with all sorts of Middle Eastern flare). The Dolme (stuffed grape leaves) and Baba Ganoush are a must along with the kabob. I've been about 10 times and would recommend this place to anyone who likes good food from the Middle East!! Their take-out is also great - especially after a long day of skiing!! Pros: Food, atmosphere, wait staff Cons: Kinda hidden location more

Best Middle Eastern Food in Denver, or, maybe, this side of the Mediterranean 10/5/2007

A few weeks ago, it was my turn to treat a friend to dinner. He and I had eaten at Jerusalem a few times, but, like one of the the recent reviewers, we must admit that this Middle Eastern food is the best we have ever tasted in Denver. My friend, by the way, spent time in a monastery in Palestine for a year, so he has become a connoiseur of cuisine from the Levant. \r \r The flat bread is superb. Both the meat and the vegetarian dishes are top drawer. I recommend the baba ganoush for an appetizer, even if you are having a meat entree. I keep coming back to try new dishes. And the prices make this dining experience a steal. \r \r As for the ambience, one has one's choice between the two dining rooms. One may dine in the plainer, less traditional dining room, or one may dine upstairs, in the more opulent room, in which there is actually a small fountain. Just try not to spill too much rice. A low table contends with my sloppy eating habits; I have thought about placing a tarp underneath me at times. \r \r I think eating a meal at this place cures most, if not all, ills. No spiritus beverages on the menu, but the mango juice, chai, Greek cafe (or Turkish cafe, if you prefer) are all refreshing. \r Pros: Overall good place, with inexpensive prices Cons: Difficult to find more

Best Restaurant Ever!!! 10/4/2007

La Zeez in Denver, CO had been my favorite restaurant of all times and had expanded my experience to include more Middle Eastern dishes. When it closed, I was without my now favorite flavours and dishes. Luckily, Fayahd Autobacchi, the former owner of La Zeez, along with his new partner, have opened Ali Baba's Grill in Golden. Each platter is carefully prepared not just for looks, but also for a perfect balance of flavour and taste. The portions are huge for a reasonable price and the decor is interesting. You have not had hummus until you've tried theirs (as well as every other dish on the menu). I have been a vegetarian most of life, but I did try a bite of a few of their meat dishes several years ago and it is the only time that meat has not just been tolerable, but delicious! (not that I would make a habit of a lifestyle change). Even if you are not passing through Golden, the 25 minutes from Denver is well worth the trip.\r \r \r Pros: The best food I have ever had with interesting ambiance Cons: The service can be a bit slow, but not bad more

If you love baklavah, you'll love this restaurant 6/15/2007

If you love baklavah, you'll love this restaurant. It's not a fancy place, but the food is great - including the pita bread, hummus, grape leaves, baklavah and skewered chicken. The atmosphere is definitely casual. The staff is very friendly... Pros: Great homemade food, decent prices Cons: Atmosphere great with friends, but not fancy more

No Contest - Best Hummus in Town 5/17/2007

Howdy!\r \r I love Jerusalem, been going there since I was a kid. Likewise I'm a fan of Pete's in all its incarnations, the Diner, Pete's Kitchen, etc. However, Ali Baba still rules the roost in my book. When I need a Hummus fix, there's no better place. The first bite of their Chicken Be-Shawarma (get it with the hummus) will tell you all you need to know - You've found a new favorite spot. I've brought a lot of folks here, and Ali Baba never disappoints. The gorgeous expansion of the dining room and the opening of a 2nd location (which I have yet to visit in Highlands Ranch) suggests I'm not alone in thinking this place serves some good food. On busy weekend evenings, the service can be harried, otherwise expect good, unobtrusive service. The mint tea is superb and the fresh lemonade is very good, but powerful sweet - you might want to ask for an extra glass of ice to dilute it down a bit.\r \r If it's after 9pm, we go to Jerusalem. Any other time, we go to Ali Baba, gladly cruising out to Golden for this wonderful stuff. Pros: Best Middle Eastern food in Denver with friendly service & great decor Cons: none, even the drive out goes quickly more
