I was in Birmingham to visit family for a few days. We were also going to drive to Atlanta during our stay in Birmingham so my wife and I decided to rent a car while we were there instead of using my sister's for the long drive. We checked a few rental car places and decided to get one from Alamo since they gave us the best deal. Our flight to Birmingham wasn't arriving until 12:30am, it was a late flight. Their website gave us an error that they were closed from 12am until i believe 6am. We called them direct and inquired about getting a rental and what time they closed. They told us that they always wait until the last flight has arrived before closing. They reassured us that they would be there after our flight was there no matter how late. So we went ahead and booked a rental with them. On the day of our arrival, our flight got delayed by an hour. Since we had talked with Alamo and had been assured that they would wait for us, we were not worried about the delay affecting us getting a rental with them. When we got to Birmingham, I went straight to the rental place while My wife went to get our luggage. I was in shock to find the place closed, no one, nothing. Luck I decided to go further down the hallway to see if any of the other car rental places were open because Hertz was still open. We ended up getting a rental with them even though it cost a little more than what we had intended to spend. They told us that this is a common occurrence with Alamo, them promising customers that they will wait until the last flight had arrived before closing. This was a horrible experience and I wouldn't recommend Alamo to anyone that wants to be treated right.
