Great food for a great price 5/9/2007

I have eaten at numerous Greek, Lebanese, Turkish, Egyptian, and other Mediterranean restaurants throughout the US. Aladdin's was one of the best. I had the shwarma (kind of like a gyro) and my coworker had the chicken shwarma. Both of us loved the meal. The shwarma is lamb and beef strips sauteed with onions and peppers and put into a thin pita (made fresh there as well). It is then topped with a yogurt sauce which is much more flavorful than any Greek yogurt sauce I have ever had. It comes with a salad and all for $6.50 (as of May 2007). The restaurant also has nice decor and there was Egyptian music playing from the speakers when we went for lunch on a weekday. My only regret is that I did not save room for the bird's nest dessert. It sounded really good and its been excellent in other places I have had it. more

Nice thought, but missed the mark. 4/3/2006

There don't seem to be very many Mediterranean restaurants in Boise. In fact, up until recently the only one I had been to was Cazba. But then I heard about Aladdin's and decided to try it. When looking at the menu, at first I was very impressed, as it is much cheaper than Cazba. But once I got the food, it was a different story. The food was bland and tasted processed. It was better after I asked for some hot sauce, but still nothing that exciting. The service and atmosphere are both fantastic, I just wish the food left me with a better impression. more

Aladdin. 4/3/2006

I love the Cazba but I am not too fond of the prices so when I heard the Aladdin served cheap and good Egyptian food I decided to give it a go. Unfortunately I was not impressed and even though it was cheap I don't think it was worth the money. I don't remember what I had but it was some chicken pita thing. Anyway, the chicken tasted liked it came from a can and the sauce tasted like the sauce on Spaghettios. EWW! I have no plans to head back there again. There was one positive thing to the whole experience though, and that was that the staff was wonderful. I enjoyed how friendly the place was and I only wish the food was good enough to make me go back. more
