Akashi is the best sushi joint in Miami! Everything I have tried, is delicious! Alex #2 is by far the best roll I have EVER had. The explosion of flavors from the shrimp tempura, masago, avacado, eel sauce, cream cheese, amazingly tasty spicy mayo, topped off with a mountain of crunch is to die for! All other sushi rolls are good and the teriyoki dishes are flavorsome! I must go if you love sushi! Although, I love this restaurant for it's delicious cuisine, it does have its flaws. Akashi is a tiny hole in the wall and (being Japanese) they cram too many people in the restaurant and the service is TERRIBLE. Since its a small place, on busy nights the noise level is too high for a relaxing meal and the wait could get bothersome. At least Akashi takes reservations, so be sure to call ahead and reserve your spot. more

Very authentic!! 9/21/2011

I went here with 4 of my girlfriends and the wait was long. When we did get a table the place was cozy and the dishes (like the dynamite appetizer and the chicken teriyaki) we're excellent. The rolls are amazing and I've been back many, many times. The only difference is, I try to go before the dinner rush hours. more

This is EXACTLY what Hamachi Kama is supposed to taste like - A++++! more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 6/27/2011

I'd never had Beef Negimaki before - this was very good, but I probably would not order it again. I was looking for something with more delicate flavors (I also expected this to be raw - closer to beef tataki). more

4/5 stars\r \r I had the Hiyashi Wakame, Shashimi Appetizer, the Beef Negimaki, and Hamachi Kama at Akashi yesterday. Everything had really good flavor and was quite fresh. The accompanying sauces (vinegar-soy dressing on the hiyashiwakamem, teriyaki sauce with the negimaki, and ponzu with the hamachi) were very flavorful.\r \r Fresh, well seasoned, well prepared, reasonably priced food. more

The food was surprisingly filling for the price and the etting was dark and modern, a vibe for kicking back and laughing. The udon though, was the spicest I've ever had it,definatly not for everyone. more

Very affordable and delicious. The food is great and you don't have to wait forever for your food. Definitely one of my favorite sushi restaurants. more

Hands down when it comes to fresh delicious sushi, Akashi by far is the number one choice in the ENTIRE city. I love sushi I have been to every restaurant in South Florida, nothing beats this place. I strongly recommend everyone eat here!!! \r \r Delicious! more

Very little place for about 30 people but with great sushi and sashimi. Tried Spider, Rainbow and Alex #2. The spider roll looks like it has a real spider in it but after asking is just a little crab and the taste is great. Our favorite was Alex#2. I'll definitively come back again with friends. more

Awesome Sushi! Good service but very tiny place. We had to leave because it was so packed! :-/ more

Editorial review from Urbanspoon 1/23/2010

I never thought a place like this would exist inside a normal building. The decoration is not bad. But I must say, the food was so disappointing. There was no flavour, it was just a common, flavourless Japanese restaurant. It was just blah, AWFUL. more

Did not expect this place to be as good as it is. It's very small but they make up for it in every other way. more
