Beautiful selection 5/26/2006

This is a very good gourmet store, that only doesn't get five stars because some of the competition in the neighborhood is even better. That said, they have a large selection of prepared and fresh foods, including a large breads section and an excellent fish counter. This is a great place to pick up a quick gourmet dinner for yourself or your family. On the pricey side, but these stores, especially in this neighborhood are. more

Aggy & Valley 5/11/2006

Ah, Aggy & Valley! What is there to say, except that given my impending move downtown, I am already plotting weekly trips uptown just for this store. Yes, I am a bit fanatical about this store and rightfully so. I cannot fault 99% of this store. I would give it a "Perfect" rating, if it wasn't for one unfortunate incident with past-due mozzarella. And that is offensive to me - I'm serious about mozzarella. But so are they - as evidenced from the process of it being made by hand, right in front of you. And the rest of their cheese selection is yummo; on a good day, they'll have samplings of two or three different kinds out for customers to try. The rest of the store is a sight for sore eyes and stomachs as well. Their produce just seems that much more greener, their meats just that much more fresher, and their prepared foods, including sushi, just that less greasy than standard buffet fare. Isn't it funny how their individual desserts are displayed before you, right where you wait in the long lines for the register? Well, that's not a coincidence. I dare you to try and leave without grabbing one to go. more

Fresh but expensive 12/8/2005

The food is always fresh and the quality is great. Some would say overpriced but I'd say it's about what you'd pay at any gourmet grocery shop. The meat/fish/cheese selection is abundant. I love the fresh raviolis and pasta sold near the check out. No matter the day or time, the lines are long and the employees aren't too friendly. more
