Hiring Affordable Electric was a huge mistake. They are responsive and nice on the phone, but once in your home, they are pests that are difficult to get rid of. I had work done in the living areas, and outside of the living areas. They cut unnecessary holes in living area walls, but did not cut enough holes in walls outside of living areas. The unnecessary holes in the living areas are difficult and disruptive to patch. Not cutting appropriate holes in the walls outside the living area made the job take much longer. They will speak to you very disrespectfully, and provide sarcastic answers to your questions. Under the guise of ""saving time and money"", they tried to get me to leave the house and pick up parts, leaving them alone in the house with my wife. I didn't do it. My wife later informed me that she was about to change clothes, and without knocking, they opened the door and walked in on her. The room she was in was outside the designated work area. A mistake, I'm sure, although they had been through the designated work area several times and all the doors, except this one, were left open. They work inefficiently. They are excellent at staying busy, but terrible at making progress. They will take all day to do a less than full day job. They didn't finish and even suggested they come back the next day. I didn't allow it. I finished the job the next day in under an hour. They will suggest or perform unnecessary work. I won't go into the details, but I watched them do things that were not necessary. At one point I had to intervene to keep them from doing something which would have added another hour to the job. I did it in under 15 minutes. Hiring Affordable Electric was a huge mistake, and quite a lesson. I should have done the work myself. The North Carolina State Board of Examiners of Electrical Contractors website has information about how to hire an electrical contractor. Refer to this before you hire anyone.
