I visited the new location of Aequis and I have to say the decor is lovely. Although the staff was bending over backward to please me I truly felt that the quality of the massage...

I received a gift certificate at 5/27/2012

I received a gift certificate at Christmas for a 275. package. My daughter bought this for me, but I never received acknowledgement until the end of January after my daughter sent numerous emails and called them about it. They never answer a phone, you get a message to leave a voice mail but I never got call backs. Today I finally got a person and wanted to make an appointment. I was told they had nothing until "summer." That is an ambiguous date, but got the idea they couldn't get me in until August. I was told I could use the package for other services, as I didn't want exactly what the package was for, but then was told they "no longer do those services at their new location" as I asked for something advertised on their website. My whole experience with them thus far has been customer service horrible. I don't even want to bother with this any longer and feel bad for my daughter as she spent a lot of cash for something that I am totally negative about now and don't want. They will not give a refund, so I am going to try to sell it to get her money back. Talk about ruining a nice gift. I won't go there just because their customer service to even get in is so awful. And will write this on every review site when I am not a reviewer or complainer type of consumer. more

I have had many experiences at Aequis 2/2/2012

I have had many experiences at Aequis over the years and I love them :) Every time it has been a wonderful, relaxing, experience. With staff that gives fantastic, sincere and knowledgeable service. I have experienced a slightly harder time getting in since the groupons have run, but it is the same for all smaller businesses that do those coupon things. I think Aequis still has it and is one of the best spas I have ever been to :) more

I left a message every day for the last 12/19/2011

I left a message every day for the last four days on the Aequis voicemail to see about making an appointment. Today still no return phone call. So I called them again and the girl just told me "We are really busy this time of year" I informed her I am a business owner myself and if my staff didn't return phone calls and told me because they are busy... I wouldn't have a business! The gal asked when I could come in and I told her I was very flexible. She told me they are completely booked up for the rest of the year and into January. Her customer services was terrible... enough where I questioned why I would even want to go there anyway. I was wanting to use a gift certificate my family purchased me. If your looking for a good place... RUMI SIMONE in Lake Oswego. Customer Service, You feel Pampered and don't feel like a low life when you call to make an appointment. Aequis has forgotten what a spa is suppose to be like. I'd hire people too to write good reviews on citysearch cause they sure aren't 4 stars! more

Cannot get appointment until mid-late Dec?!?!!? 9/9/2011

I just tried to make an appointment for the groupon i got for couples massage. I cannot get appointment til Dec?!?!? I used to love this place at their old location, but am not impressed that i have to wait til Dec because they offer groupon discount which they cannot support in timely manner. more

Over-priced, under-staffed 8/2/2011

This has been an extremely difficult place to make an appointment with. They don't seem to have a receptionist and phone messages aren't always returned in a timely manner. I have a gift certificate and as soon as it is used up, I will never return. The pedicure polish hasn't lasted as long as it has at other places and they seem to be over-priced. One manicurist just up and quit do to lack of payment and now it's hard to get an appointment for two of us at the same time. Instead of two of us having a manicure at the same time, we have to go one after the other. more

seriously overpriced 7/22/2011

I will not be returning to this spa because of the service I received there last week. The massage was sub par, the staff did not seem genuine, and I did not get the full time that I paid for. I think it's time to try other spas in the area. more

SAD!! 6/8/2011

When I first went to Aequis 7 years ago in 2004 at their original location I was blown away. The staff were amazingly sweet, calm, the ambiance was beyong soothing and my massage was the best by far and left me feeling great for over a week (a rare occurance in my case). I work in a customer service position where I come into contact with 100-200 people every day, so I know first hand that not everyone is going to be happy and there are always people who will despise the service they get no matter what. . . BUT I've been to Aequis 2 times in the last couple of years and my massage ended 15 minutes early each time. A male friend of mine wanted to try it last Summer and was not pleased at all and while the space was very nice and set up to seem "luxurius", the massage was not worth the expensive price at all, and I agree. A friend of mine used to work as a front desk staff there and after she quit, complained to me that just like the other posts state, she was never paid on time and was given excuses for missing wages. She had to file complaints with BOLI. I'm really disappointed, but alas! My new favorite is Dragon Tree Spa on NW Thurman!! I have been there 3 times now and love it!! more

Luxury, top customer service, serene 6/7/2011

I started with Aequis when located in its original location. I was in complete awe over the ambiance, serenity, and peace. Then it moved to a bigger, less personal location, still awesome massage, but the special and unique ambiance was lost. NOW, back to business in the Pearl! You walk in and as a mom, this place takes your breath away! Peace, quiet, Serene, more then affordable, especially for the quality of personal attention and expertise. As a runner, Katlyn really knew how/what to stretch and massage for swift relaxation and recovery. KUDOS to Aequis for bringing back the BEST in the business. Cheers. more

NO WAY!!!! 5/10/2011

I am not sure if it was a dream or not still four days later. I have been to Aeqis once before in 'o6 and never forgot it. I finally found time again and scheduled a facial and a massage for the same day. So when i arrived it was just like i remembered it just a little smaller but same AMAZING ZEN feeling that came over me instantly. I was approached immediately with this awesome dry erase intake form and offered hot tea. The staff was amazing right away, true customer service for sure. I was taken into the back gallery and like before i felt as if i was beginning a journey. Foot soak and rub warm robe then a facial with Kaitlyn that put me into my body, WOW! She used some Hungarian skin care that was from a small farm in Hungary i guess. How amazing and client focused can they get there haha. Anyways my massage with Kaila sent me into pure self release and the hot oil running up and down almost every square inch of me was to die for. THANK YOU FOR RESETTING MY LIFE YOU GUYS, REALLY REALLY THANKFUL. staci p :) more

What Happened? 3/18/2011

I have been to this place 6 times over the years; every time magical. Not sure what happened, but the writing is on the wall.....Groupon Coupons= trouble. I bought several coupons and cannot even get in to use them. I called and was told that the secretary was out and that they would call me back. I never received a phone call, I have called back several times to no avail (no answer at all, or voice mail) and my email has produced no reply at all. Stay away!!! Not sure the employees can handle all the coupons. Has Auquispa's time come to be sent adrift into the aqua? more

Not So Bad 9/15/2010

I am an employee and would just like to say that I do get paid, and have never not gotten paid and have worked there for quite some time now. It is a great place to work, with a great staff. more

More proof 9/8/2010 will provide further proof of violation. This is reportable and should be stopped. Does anyone know where to report? It seems that Ms Klein has taken herself off as listed owner, and now her ex husband, David Klein of California claims to be part owner. It's on his Facebook page. There is also a page called AEQUIS SPA REALLY SHOULD PAY THEIR EMPLOYEES on Facebook. I personally will never do business there again. more

Gone Legitimate - Got Licensed 9/8/2010

I guess the pressure to get legit or die was too much. The place is finally licensed. It took lots of calls to the State! I did find that the BBB has given the place an F rating and there are HUGE outstanding BOLI claims and liens for payroll violations. A simple credit check will prove them out. If one believes in karma, (interesting that the business promotes spiritual well-being), then they have a big kick in the butt coming (or at least their next life as a dung beetle). I, for one, will never darken their door again. SK more

Krista put the Kibosh on my back...Wow it felt good! 8/12/2010

I came in during a $110 day and got such a great massage. Krista gave me a foot massage and right away, I started joking around with her and felt very comfortable and relaxed. She's awesome and she let me be myself. It was my first massage so I didn't know that traditionally you get butt naked under the bath robe. Funny. Real funny. The massage got started and an hour and a half later I was entranced by the tribal music and the deep tissue massage I received. She was formerly an all-state volleyball player in high school and her bows rolled through my kinks and knots in my back that I get from clicking a mouse and watching a computer screen all day. Goodness guys, get Krista if you want a good massage. Goodness I said. more

I Heart Aequis 8/12/2010

I really, really do. From the friendly front desk staff to the knowledgeable and intuitive therapists. I continue to come back. Reading other reviews on here has made me a bit sad as I think many small businesses are being hit hard with the tumultuous economy and we need to hang tough with our Portland gems. And Aequis truly is a gem. The intention is amazing and you feel cared for throughout your entire experience. I LOVE the aroma part at the beginning, the foot treatment to relax before the ACTUAL massage even gets started, and I have ALWAYS been happy with the massage or skin care service. I have had my share of spa experiences, and while good - I have not found one that beats the fantastic service and retreat I found at Aequis. more

WHAT A JOKE! 7/13/2010

Be specific about your service and what you are paying for. Keep an eye on the clock you may not receive to full amount of time you paid for. Forget about talking to the owner Megan Klein she already has your money and will not call you back if you have issued a complaint. Try the YMCA the service is probably better! Cons: Poor Service, don't get what you pay for more

Aequis isn't what it used to be. 6/7/2010

I used to go to Aequis but it doesn't look so good these days. I searched for Aequis on BBB website and their rating is a F. Look for yourself.. Ouch. Cons: Obviously having issues. more
