Worst Ever 12/8/2011

This so called doctor does not rate the one star given above. He was so rude! He treated me (a gentle 67 year-old grandmother) like some naughty child sent to the principals office. I had a large callous covering two warts on the bottom of my foot. While he was checking the top of my foot for swelling, he was pushing on the callous which was already hurting quite badly. When I jumped and yelped, he scolded me and never apologized for hurting me. more

Shady Doc + Dirty Office 4/8/2010

I saw Dr. Calia for a toe fungus. When I saw the front office and hallway to the patient room all cluttered and piled up, I should have ran away! Big red flags! The patient room was tiny, cluttered and smelled moldy. Dr. Calia, without gloves on, examined my toes and said he thought I had a fungus but had to take a biopsy and send it off to a lab for a correct diagnosis. OK, anyone could tell by looking it was a fungus. He took a clipper type instrument out of a pen holder box on the counter (no sterilization) and started digging around in there and clipping part of my big toe nail off. He then put the instrument back where he got it and said he needed to prescribe me a special compounded medication to brush on my toes. He insisted that I had to get the med next door to his office. I went next door to a tiny drug store to get my script filled. It had to be compounded and chilled for a while so they told me to come back the next day. I did. It wasn't ready. When I finally got the med, the pharmacist there said my insurance would not pay for the script. I had to pay it. I ask my insurance company why they didn't pay. They said it was not an approved medication because they couldn't get the proprietary ingredients from the pharmacy. I asked about it with the pharmacist and he told me it had Everclear liquor (100% alcohol) in it along with some other ingredients - he wouldn't elaborate on it. I was scared to use it. In my opinion the doctor and his staff had a bad attitude. I noticed their office is no longer there but I don't know if he's still in business. If so, run the other way!!! more

Avoid this doctor 8/1/2008

I do not recommend this doctor. He is insulting and uncaring, and very uninformative. I also believe that he did a poor job on my surgery, but I will know more when I follow up with another doctor. I doubt that I will even return for my follow-up appointment with Calia, as I don't trust his judgment. more
