BEST acupucnture in PORTLAND!! 12/15/2008

Sarah is the best. I came to see her barely able to walk and after 1 treatment was off my crutches!! After 2 treatments was 150% better. It was almost like magic. I cant even imagine if I had not gone into see her the process I would have gone through. She knew exactly what was wrong with me. She is so kind and patient. We are now continuing to work on the underlying problem with my muscles to get me into tip top shape so that I don't hurt myself again. more

Sarah and Emily are the best!!!! 12/10/2008

Relief from back pain and stress. Unconditionally recommend Acupuncture Northwest. 10/17/2008

Going to Acupuncture Northwest and working with Sarah has truly changed me. I have had decades of back pain due to lower back surgeries and my job now includes tremendous stress. Sarah has dramatically helped both conditions with a special touch. I was a bit of a skeptic of Eastern medicine at first, but the results have proven to be overwhelming. I would recommend Acupuncture Northwest to anyone needing help to heal themselves. more

spirited, skilled practitioners truly help physically/mentally/emotionally 9/23/2008

I went for my first accupuncture appointment in my life and did not know what to expect. The ambiance and practitioners made me feel so comfortable, relaxed and at ease with the process. I have had chronic back pains and felt more relief than I had in years after just two appointments. \r \r I was concerned about finding a top-notch acupuncturist in the Portland metro because we are new to the area. Honestly, I need to look no more! You really feel cared about by the practitioners at Accupuncture NW, and you really are. They are really genuine people and value their work and patients. Seriously, they are a duo of healing power and energy, wisdom and kindness. Whatever ails you I am sure they will help you a great deal! DMV Pros: Great pokes by kind, knowledgable practitioners AND the ambiance sets the tone for a great time-out. more

Great results for kids, adults 9/20/2008

I started seeing Emily at Acupuncture Northwest for a variety of issues - among them too much worrying, insomnia, and hip pain. I have found that acupuncture has reduced all of these symptons without any side effects. If you take pain pills or sleeping pills, it seems like there's always some ""blowback"" to worry about. I guess that doesn't happen with acupuncture because it's all about restoring balance.\r \r Emily is also really knowledgeable and it's interesting to learn about Chinese medicine from her.\r \r Also, toward the end of the school year, my 7-year-old son started pulling his hair out - so much so he was developing a bald spot and getting teased about it at school. Emily said, ""Hey, I can help with that,"" and so I brought my son in. \r \r He wasn't so into the idea of needles, so Emily used acupressure and gave us a routine at home to do every night too. We saw her for several weeks in a row and the effect was amazing. Did he stop pulling out his hair the first week? Yes? Did he backslide? Hardly at all. And now, five or six months later, his hair looks almost normal and he sees Emily a couple times a month.\r \r My son looks forward to his acupressure sessions with Emily and when he leaves, he's always laughing and relaxed - back to himself. The hair pulling is over, at least for now, and if it were to recur, I would bump our appointments back up to once a week....but so far, he's doing really well and I am eternally grateful to Emily and Acupuncture Northwest. more

Healing Beyond Expectation 9/9/2008

I have suffered chronic lower back and hip pain for the past 5 years. I had\r to stop doing the activities I loved such as jogging, hiking and playing\r tennis. Sleeping and walking became difficult and painful. \r Over the past five years I have been examined and treated by many\r health care practitioners. On advice from a chiropractor, and in\r desperation, I tried acupuncture.\r I am very grateful to have found Acupuncture Northwest and Emily. Emily is\r a gifted healer. With each session my condition improved. This therapy far\r exceeded my expectations. I can now jog and play tennis pain free, when all\r I dared to hope for was to be able to sleep and walk pain free again.\r Emily's listening skills, her professionalism, and caring manner, along with\r her obvious knowledge and talent, make her the perfect health care\r practitioner. She has helped me understand the process of healing from\r chronic pain and injury and gave me hope for continued improvement all along\r the way. more

Best acupuncturist for healing 8/29/2008

Emily at Acu NW is the best healer that I have seen. I have been recovering from a traumatic accident for the last 3 1/2 years and have seen at least 20 specialist including many acupuncturists. In the 2 months that I have been seeing Emily at Acupuncture NW, I have healed more than in the total 3 1/2 years. I highly recommend her to anyone with chronic pain or just in need of an acupuncturist. She is nice, caring and completely focused on doing everything that she can to help you heal! Pros: Effective treatment, value, attention to detail more

Healthy again! 7/29/2008

I was skeptical about acupuncture, but went to Sarah when I developed several medical conditions that seemed to be pushing me towards the more and more medication scenario, which I dreaded. Sarah immediately put me at ease, and I was impressed by the extensive history she took before our session. I felt that she listened intently to everything I said, and the care she felt was very evident. She helped me through the first needles, and was very careful that I be comfortable. It was painless, and very relaxing. The great news is that after 4 sessions, when I went back to my MD for bloodwork, my pre diabetic numbers had dropped way down into the normal range, and my anemia was gone! I had been working on both issues for months with diet and iron, to no avail. Besides that, my acid reflux is gone, and I had taken Prilosec for that for 5 years! I can't say enough about how pleased I am with Sarah's treatment! My MD was happy, too! Pros: prompt, professional, friendly service, effective treatment, relaxing atmosphere, more

Best Acupuncturist ever! 5/8/2008

Sarah is an amazing person who is very caring, passionate and so understanding. She makes sure she gets to know you and understands your need and will treat you very adequately. I went to see her for my hip pain (bone necrosis) and ever since, I can walk again without my walking can. I then was hoping to have another child (I have a toddler) before I get to do this inevitable hip replacement and Sarah gave me that hope: I am now expecting and am carrying the baby wonderfully ?til after giving birth, it?ll be time for my surgery? I highly recommend her to everyone. You won?t regret it. She?s simply the best!\r Pros: her personality, her email reliability, availability, office hours, calming and relaxing environment. Cons: None. more

Best acupunctist EVER! 8/24/2007

I started seeing Sarah at the beginning of the year when I could not get out of bed because of intense back pain. In less than a year I am participating in my second triathlon. I would never have been able to do this without Sarah's fabulous gift. She knows where the pain is and gets results. I highly recommend her to people who have a sports injury. Also worked wonders on my seasonal allergies. more

The best acupuncturist in town! 5/31/2007

Sarah is awesome! She is kind, compassionate and very skilled. Her rooms are very calming and her technique is so gentle and so effective. I've been seeing her for anxiety and joint pain both of which are gone or nearly gone. I would recommend her to anyone. Pros: Sarah, Calming Environment, Sarah, Office Hours, Sarah more

This is what a healer is 1/11/2007

Sarah is an angel. The thing I admire and appreciate the most about her is that she truly listens to you AND cares. I've had pretty severe digestive issues for years now and was led from one MD to another, each of them eventually giving up on me and prescribing more pills. When I finally tried acupuncture with Sarah, I realized what a healer should be. Not only has my digestion calmed down, but also the stress and anxiety that comes with not knowing why you're sick. I look forward to each visit with her and the atmosphere couldn't be anymore welcoming! Pros: ambience, excellent treatment, scheduling flexibility, friendly more

Very welcoming atmosphere, professional, highly, highly recommended 12/6/2006

Absolutely a great experience. I was a first timer, and I felt totally comfortable and taken care of. Sarah helped incredibly with back problems and headaches. She works hard to work with you, and cares about each of her patients. I have recommended Sarah to many of my friends, and they have all been impressed. It is a no pressure atmosphere with exemplary personal attention. If you are thinking about acupuncture, you should go here! Pros: Comfortable, effective, great atmosphere, wonderful staff! more

A naturally gifted health care pro 9/16/2006

I have been to many alternative health care practitioners--acupuncturists, naturopaths, homeopaths, herbalists--and Sarah is one of the best I've ever been treated by. Because you describe all your symptoms, not just one specific ache or pain, I imagine the amount of information can be overwhelming for the practitioner. Sarah has a gift for sorting out what to focus on. She helped me a lot and even followed up with a phone call to check on my progress. I recommend her highly, especially for the kinds of chronic ailments that make M.D.s throw in the towel. She is very patient and dedicated. Pros: Free, easy parking; quiet, calming treatment rooms more

AMAZING EXPERIENCE! ACUPUNTURE A MUST! 9/13/2006

I have suffered from chronic hip pain for the last 10 years and have gone through every modality available (rolfing, PT, cortisone) except for acupuncture or surgery. Three days ago my pain went from a standard 5-6 to an 8-9 and I was desparate for help. When I called Sarah she was able to get me in with one day's notice. She has a very soft disposition that eases your mind if you have never experienced acupuncture. With one treatment my pain was reduced by 25%, it was the coolest thing to actually feel the muscle reengage again. I never thought I would fall asleep with needles in me - but miracles do happen. Without hesitation I recommend Sarah. If you are in pain - don't just go and see her - RUN and see her. Run Forrest Run! .... Pros: Ambiance, warm, excellent treatement more

Amazing for pregnancy! 8/14/2006

I'm 8 months pregnant and have been seeing Sarah twice a month for most of my pregnancy. She's a wonderful contrast to my more traditional careproviders at OHSU who simply accept that discomfort and pain are an inextricable part of being pregnant. I go to my doctor appointments with tales of aches + pains and they mostly shrug and say: just make sure to get plenty of rest and eat right. When I have appointments with Sarah, she seems to preempt whatever problems I may be having at the specific stage of pregnancy I'm in and she works them out: fatigue, nausea, headaches, back pain, high bloodpressure, crankiness, stress. And somehow she makes getting stuck with needles fun and relaxing. I always look forward to my time with her. She is highly intuitive and treats you in a subtle, yet extremely effective manner. Sarah's acupuncture has been well worth the time and money for the relaxation and relief from symptoms during my pregnancy! Pros: convenience, flexibility with scheduling, kindness more

Help for me and my kids 7/16/2006

Sarah came highly recommended to me and just after spending an hour with her, I couldn't schedule my next appointment fast enough. She listens with an open and caring heart, she is gentle and fun-spirited with children and her passion for healing and working with others shines through.\r \r Sarah has a gift and we are fortunate she has decided to share this gift\r with us. Whether you have a specific ailment, are low in energy or want\r to open yourself and your children to a wonderful experience, I highly\r recommend you spend some time with her. Pros: flexible schedule, puts the care back in healthcare more

Borderline miracle worker 6/26/2006

Sarah is unbelievable! I had only gone to an acupunturist once and had great success.\r I have never seen anyone so committed to helping others and have such a passion for seeing success. I cannot recomend her highly enough. If you have any issue that the medical community isn't addressing to your satisfaction, you must give Sarah a try. Miracle worker might be over the top, but she's as close as I have found. I will continue to see her for any issues I might incur or simply for stress management. Pros: Atmosphere is great, Sarah so compassionate Cons: zero more

From skeptic to advocate in one visit 6/12/2006

Sarah is amazing. Making that first appointment, I was tentative at best. Now I 'm a total advocate. She has successfully treated me for physical symptoms from shoulder pain to a digestive disrorder that my doctor had given up on. In addition, my energy level is higher than it's been in a long time. The treatments themselves are relaxing and peaceful, the results more than I had thought were possible. I've been back a lot. Pros: Sarah is insightful, friendly, and compassionate more

So relaxing 5/9/2006

Sarah took such good care of me. She asked all the right questions and really took the time to listen to me. She was very thorough, extrememly professional, and knowledgeable. I felt so relaxed walking out of her office. I highly recommend her services. Pros: good parking, evening appointments more
