We placed 3 specific granite slabs on hold and were reassured everyday for a week that the slabs were waiting for us. We offered to pay in full or put a deposit down, but were told it was not necessary. We arrived with our fabricator to pick up the slabs and found that our hold sticker had been moved to another, very different looking batch of the granite. The original slabs were now labeled with someone else's name. The salesman tried to convince us that we had actually selected the second batch. After much arguing and time wasted, the owner admitted that he had allowed another customer to put a deposit down on our original slabs. He refused to give us the slabs and acted liked it should be no big deal for us to pick something else. Needless to say, we are not doing business with Acme. In speaking with other granite suppliers, we are hearing that it is common practice for Acme to sell off granite that has been placed on hold by both customers and fabricators.
