Yesterday afternoon I went downstairs and noticed that my carpet was wet, and there was a puddle of water in the utility closet. I began investigating, checking out the water heater first. Everything with the water heater appeared to be fine, so I started to follow the stain marks on the concrete trying to determine the cause.
I eventually found a little box sitting next to the furnace was leaking water at a fairly decent rate. I immediately called Abundant and asked to speak with a technician. When I explained my situation, the technician immediately knew what was happening.
On high efficiency furnaces there is quite a bit of condensation generated that is drained out the side of the furnace and into a condensate pump. The way the pump usually works is the when the floats reach a certain level, the pump kicks in and pumps out the water. Unfortunately, this pump had stopped working.
The owner of the company immediately made an appointment with me for the this morning. He came out right on time with a new condensate pump, a blower, and a bunch of towels. He replaced the pump at no charge, set the blower up for the carpet and helped clean up the mess. The thing that really amazed me was that they hadn’t even replaced the pump when they did the furnace, but he gave me a new one anyway, and he left the blower for me until the carpets were dry.
They did all of this even though I was a month out of the 1 year service warranty. I really feel like they went above and beyond what was necessary.
