really is phobulous 3/20/2011

i went backpacking in vietnam and got introduced to pho (by the way it's pronounced phuh) never had had it before. i love this place because it reminds me of my trip, but also becuase it's cheap and you get a big honkin bowl of pho. i like the chicken best. it's not a fancy place- best for lunch. or sometimes i pick up to eat at home for dinner. more

Good food in a good location 2/12/2010

Good food but the staff can be a little rude. You are at their mercy if your drink runs out or if you want extra lemons. Pros: Great location Cons: Service is kinda rude more

AUTHENTIC AS IT CAN GET!!!! 4/16/2009

Thank GOD i don't have to drive an hour to Little Saigon for AUTHENTIC PHO!!!!!! I have tried them ALL folks. And this is the one. Born in Vietnam, raised in L.A., and i won't go anywhere else. NOT just the Pho is authentic the Rolls, Baguette Sandwiches, and of course the Vietnamese Iced Coffee. I LOVE this place. Cam on (Thank you) guys for keeping me Vietnamese in a place where you can soooooo LOSE WHO YOU ARE!!!!!!! Pros: The Pho is EXACTLY how it should taste. Cons: NOT BIG ENOUGH!!!!!!! :) more

HAIR IN TAKE OUT 12/18/2008

This restaurant has long been a favorite. Until Today when we got take out and there was a long black hair in my friends noodles. We threw out our over priced Pho and walked to Quizno's. Pros: Tasted Good, Quick Service ( I assume too quick) Cons: Hair in Soup- GROSS, and Pho is usually much cheaper, location caused rise in price I assume. more

Worst Pho I've ever had, TERRIBLE service! 10/13/2008

Worst Pho I've ever had. TERRIBLE service. Stingy with the limes. I have been to a lot of Pho's but this one was definitely a waist of my money. I had a steak pho and everything was bad, especially the meat in it, it wasn't tender at all and the taste of the soup was more like my toilet water. If you want to eat at a descent Pho go to this one pho place in Silverlake, it's called Pho Cafe just google it. The place doesn't have a sign outside but looks very modern inside and is busy full of Asians, and usually that means a good thing. Pros: it's in a good locations, too bad they don't know how to make the business work Cons: Soup tastes like water, Meat in pho is full of nerves and fat, TERRIBLE service!!! more

Best Vietnamese Food on The Westside 9/21/2008

The food is great and authentically Vietnamese. My favorites are the Vietnamese sandwiches, broken rice combination, pork vermicelli combination, and Vietnamese crepes. It's a little pricier than the hole-in-the wall places in little Saigon but still very reasonably priced and the atmosphere is much nicer. The service is reasonable and quick, even on take-out orders. We eat there all the time. Pros: Good value and great food Cons: limited parking in the lot but usually spaces on the street are available more

trendy but authentic vietnamese food 2/23/2008

as a vietnamese person living in la, it's hard to find decent authentic vietnamese food. this place actually compares favorably to the vietnamese restaurants in little saigon in orange county, & i eat here or @ its ventura blvd branch @ least 1-2x/wk. the so-called vietnamese restaurants in koreatown are all owned by koreans or chinese, & are about as authentic as pf chang's is for chinese food. love the vietnamese crepes, the egg rolls, the chicken xiu xiu, the baguettes, the different types of pho & vermicelli. the service is always prompt & courteous w/o obsequiousness, & the prices are reasonable. Pros: great food & service, reasonable prices, Cons: hard to find parking more

mediocre ""westside"" bowl 7/20/2007

The only reason that I tried this place is because it was on west of Korea town, and it proved once again that there is no good pho west of Korea town. I spent last summer living off of 3 bowls a day, believe me when I say that this place is slightly more expensive than others, slightly smaller than others, and far less tasty than others. Pho shouldn't be stingy like this one. Pros: it's on la cienega Cons: small and slightly overpriced more

Dine elsewhere. 3/31/2007

I eat a lot of pho. I mean A LOT. But this place just didn't have it goin on. I ordered seafood pho and it had a very strange taste to it. The broth did tasted more like a canned soup stock or something--I still can't put my finger on it. Also, the seafood was not very fresh tasting. The fish cake had a sort of off taste to them. I also ordered egg rolls, which just okay. I really wanted to love this place, as it had come recommended to me through a friend, but I would say that if you are looking for some good pho you should look elsewhere. I'm thinking that maybe this place just caters to a ""trendy healthy"" habit of eating Vietnamese food. Pros: convenient location; one of just a few pho restaurants on the block Cons: not fresh; ick taste to broth more

Great Vietnamese food without the drive! 11/5/2006

I was so happy to find this place, I don't have to drive 30 miles for good pho anymore! The service was fast and friendly, my pho was awesome (I basically got Pho Tai, because I have gotten some scary meatballs before) but when I go back, I am getting the meatballs too, as everything else about the place was superb. Great prices too! Pros: Great pho, quick service for lunch, excellent price Cons: Parking might be difficult, you could always park at the Bev Center... more

High Fashion - Vietnamese Food 9/18/2006

Cute little Vietnamese restaurant in the middle of West Hollywood. Good food, right price, and absolutely Phobulous. If you're in the area and craving for pho or other exotic Vietnamese food, this is the place to visit. They also have authentic Vietnamese paintings (artists are actually from Vietnam) for sale on their walls. Pros: Good food Cons: Can't accomodate a large group more

Great fast, cheap, wonderful food. 7/21/2006

Everything I've had here has been phobulous. The pho soups are wonderful on a cold winter night, the firecracker beef is melt in your mouth delicious, the vegi stir is spicy but flavorful.... You can't go wrong! Remember to have a boba to top off the meal. Pros: Great food Cons: Tiny space more

Really really good! 6/16/2006

I had a huge craving for pho and this was the only place I could find close to my place in Hollywood. I was not expecting great food, but this place was wonderful! The broth was really tasty, the meatballs were good and the meat good quality. I had a fab iced coffee some kind of three layer dessert with red beans, coconut milk, ice and jelloey strips. Weird but WONDERFUL. more

It's okay since it's close 3/27/2006

I initially wrote a good review (2006) of this place, but recently the food isn't so good. I still like the chicken over rice (my favorite dish there). I recently took a friend there, and he didn't like the vermicelli at all. So I just had the vermicelli (10/08), and it was not good. So, that's a bad sign that this dish was did not taste good twice within one month. I don't know what happened to the food here. How sad because I used to love the vermicelli here. Pros: Affordable for the area, Cute Setup Cons: Too small for lg grps, food is going downhill more

Super efficient! 3/2/2006

A tiny Vietnamese cafe with super fast service and authentic food. The Jen's Shrimp Fried Rice was excellent, must try! Pros: fast service, authentic food, easy parking more

Yummmm I could live off this stuff 12/14/2005

This is a great restaurant! Getting the pho with no noodles and adding the red hot sauce on a day where you're feeling tired or yucky completely turns it around! Mmmmm I'm stopping there and picking food up tonight for sure! Fresh, simple, and healthy, GOOO to PHO! more
