Gouging at it's best!! 11/16/2011

I had brought my elding dog there for a few years mainly for annual shots. When she started to develop issues, I was in the approx 8 times in 5 months. Spending over $900 for care that did nothing to help her. The last being a tumor that they wanted $800 to remove and being new to the area a friend recommended Brookside Animal Hospital. We went there for a second opinion and found that it was a $50 procedure with little or minimal pain. I will never go back to Jem Vetcare. Its all about money and taking advantage of owners that consider their pets as part of their families. more

healed my sick lab 8/7/2009

Previously, my lab started losing hair on his hind quarters and was itching like crazy. I had taken my lab to another vet where the doc told me our lab had a yeast infection, presribed a weak antibiotic, and recommended we screen for thyroid problems and do a skin biopsy. Bottom line, my dog, after spending $400 for the appt, thyroid test, antibiotics, was still sick two weeks later. Enter Jem Vet Care. My dog continued to suffer with persistent itching, continued hair loss, and a dull coat. I was not comfortable with the previous vet or his "lets run a bunch of tests to figure out what is going on" approach. I found Jem on line, scheduled an appt and went it. The vet asked a few questions about our previous history, looked at our dog and within a minute looked at us and said "he has a staff infection" and proceeded to outline what I considered a very reasonable, thought out plan. He spent 10-15 minutes outlining his methodology, explaining his holistic approach which included a discussion on nutrition, to bathing, to addressing allergies. He is a very passionate man when it comes to animal nutrition. If you dont buy in to holistic approaches (e.g. bathing and nutrtion) and think that a pill or shot is the answer, I would recommend you find another vet. The bottom line? My dog, after following the treatment plan of Jem's Vet Care for two weeks, which included a strong antibiotic for 4 weeks, and a specialized diet, and a special shampoo, and a coat conditioner, has grown 70% of his lost hair back. The best part? He didnt walk us through a bunch of thyroid, and skin biopsy tests to make the assessment, tests that can be costly to run. He got results. If you are looking for a vet who will speak his mind and get results, go to him. If you prefer running alot of tests and having vets sugar coar things for you, and are indecisive, he is not the vet for you. I dont knwo this man from adam other than I found him on the internet, took my dog to him and within two visits and two weeks he fixed the problem. I cant speak to how well he treats his employees or if he is a good man that hugs his kids good night before they go to bed. I can tell you he got results for meand my lab. I know where I will take my pets for now on. Pros: very candid in his assessment Cons: very candid in his assessment more

Wonderful Veterinarian Dr Haglock 2/26/2009

I am a past employee that relocated from California. Being a Veterinary Technician under Dr Haglock was the most rewarding experiance that I have ever had in my career. I loved all the clients and their pets, knowing that they were there to keep them healthy and happy is important. Even though I no longer work for Dr Haglock I will take my animals to him if I need to. Please keep up the good work in keeping Utah pets healthy. I do miss working for you. Pros: Willing to go the extra mile for the animals more

A Life Saver! 2/1/2009

Last year we got a new kitty from the Humane Society (it was our third cat that we had gotten from there) after we had, had the kitty home for a couple of months we noticed this red mark on his belly we took him into JEM and found out that he had been bitten by a spider of some sort. All the skin on his stomach died and was falling off and we ended up having to take him in for weekly visits. The doctor was at times very abrupt but he was AMAZING with our kitty. They gave us a free cone because we were low on funds and they didn't even charge us for refills on the cream we had to put on his belly or our last three visits. I was very impressed especially since neither of my other two cats had ever had any problems. I was so stressed and the people there were so reasuring and they always acted like they were excited to see my kitten. I would definately recommend this place. Pros: Easy to get in, friendly staff, quality information more

drive PAST Jem's Vet Care! 12/15/2008

I took my new puppy to be seen by the vet. He was angry at me for buying my puppy over the internet. I appreciated that he was trying to educate me on the wrong ways to buy a puppy (I didn't know as this is my first puppy) but DID NOT appreciate the way he went about telling me. My young daughter was there with me and as he proceeded to "rip me a new one" he mentioned the word DIE in reference to the puppy several times. Because of the tone of voice and words used, my daughter cried for an hour after wards!!! YOU MAY BE PASSIONATE ABOUT THINGS - BUT DON'T FRIGHTEN, BE RUDE, YELL OR CONDEMN PEOPLE TO GET YOUR POINT ACROSS!!!! It was an awful experience - I'd drive for 30+ minutes PAST JEM"S Vet Care to get to another Veterinarian. more

Outstanding Service 7/16/2008

A couple years my dog was really sick and my regular vet couldn't get her in. The only place that would take us that day was JEM's Vetcare. They even stayed open late for us. They were so nice and didn't act like it was an inconvenience to help my little girl get better. The technition and doctor were very informative and acted like they really cared and knew a lot about animals. This is the ONLY doctor I trust with my 2 dogs now. I also think the receptionists are very friendly and helpful. more

This place treats their employees terriby! 2/6/2008

This company treats their employees horribly. They cycle through vet techs like no other. The receptionist is extremely rude and the company does not respect anyone. (They say that people who are not willing to spend a lot of money on their pet are a waste of their time!). I was not an employee here, but I have know several (ie 6). All of these but one have been let go, because the Doctor treats them like they are stupid and they know nothing. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS GUY!!! more
