A Dog's Best Friend

We took our small pekingese mix to them for the 1st time today. She looked and smelled great when we picked her up. She is a tough cookie in certain areas but they did a great job getting her ears and back end looking good. She seemed relaxed and happy when we picked her up and they seemed to genuinely like their furry clients. Thanks for the great job. I would highly recommend them and will be going back. more

I've been taking my three Mini Schnauzers to Laurie for about 7 years. She truly cares about the animals she's grooming. She always uses the best products, designed for use on that particular animal. One of my Schnauzers had a stroke four years ago. She cannot put weight on her right front paw, and Laurie handles her so gently. The shop is newly renovated and always clean and smelling nice. I highly recommend her! more

A Dog's Best Friend is a wonderful groomer! You are treated like family, from the minute you and your precious dogs walk into this clean dog friendly atmosphere. I have a tibetan terrier that does not like to be brushed much less groomed and from the moment I walked into A Dog's Best Friend, Laurie has done wonders with her! My Name is Judy. As a groomer for about 40 years at an average of 30 dogs a week, I was surprised and hurt that a client of over 10 years would write such a harsh review. Groomers work on living, moving, sometimes difficult pets everyday. We still look at each one as someones baby just as our own dogs are. A pet that constantly licks a clipper and scissors is a continual challenge. In over 10 years of grooming this pet without incident, an accident occurred. I did apologize and paid the vet bill. The vet did nothing to the tongue and gave her antibiotics to ward off possible infection. I am truly sorry her pet was injured. As hard as we try, occasionally a pet moves more quickly than the groomer. I sincerely wish her and her pet find someone to give her 10 more years of good service. more

I have been taking my dog to be groomed by Judy, the owner of A Dog's Best Friend, for 10 years. In May 2008, I picked my dog up and was told that she had ""nicked"" his tongue while grooming him. I envisioned the clippers doing their job and he turned around to ""lick her into stopping"". This was not the case. While driving home I noticed that his mouth was bleeding and that his tongue had a 1/4"" laceration from scissors. My dog is only 14lbs and 1/4"" is just over a third of his little tongue. I immediately took him to the vet. Judy agreed to pay the bill but has yet to say she is sorry, feels bad, or to ask about how he is doing. She did tell me that it was quite common and that another groomer at the business had cut a dog's tongue just last week. I found that statement to be alarming, not comforting! I was given a check and dismissed without any kind words. Needless to say, I will not be taking him back. If she treats her customers so coldly, just how does she treat the animals, or our honorary family members, that she grooms? I do not recommend the business. We took our 3 month old yorkshire puppy here to get his first ""TRIM"". Yorkshire puppies are born with a beautiful black and gold coat that only lasts for the first 6 months of their lives. Without asking or calling to tell us, the woman shaved all of his black fur off, leaving him with about a half inch of silver hair. Not only was he freezing for the next two months, but people asked us if our dog was sick. The woman who cut his hair refused to give us a refund, saying that she did the work and deserved to be paid. We explicitly asked for the least hair cut as possible.
