I have an amazing surgeon who scheduled me at this surgery center to have a septoplasty and very minor rhinoplasty (only dorsum, i.e. the bump which was to take like 30 min). Since it was a mixed case, part of the expense was to be billed to insurance and part to be paid for by me. The Dr's office called me and informed me that the surgical center was going to call me for payment of the $990 for the cosmetic portion of the procedure. When the surgical center called, they quoted me a different price of like $100 more, so I said they must be mistaken and told them to call the Dr.'s office. They did and accepted the $990 as payment. The day of surgery, they told me everything was fine but they needed a credit card in case there were time overcharges. I didn't want to give them my card but the woman at the front desk kept insisting. \r
Two weeks after surgery, I get a call from the surgical center saying that my Dr. went 30 min over the cosmetic portion and that they needed to charge me $400. I remember the day of surgery the surgical center and the Dr. talking to me after surgery, both telling me that they took a little longer on the septoplasty than expected but that everything else was fine. So, this was a shock. I told them that they couldn't charge me that $400 because they were wrong and should call the Dr.'s office. They agreed to call the Dr. and said they would call me back if they still wanted to charge me. I don't think they called the Dr.'s office, and they certainly never called me back, so I thought all was resolved. My Dr.'s office did try and call them about it and a woman (later found to be Elizabeth) was very rude to them, and said she would look into it, and never called them back. I opened my mailbox and found a letter with a reciept dated 8-24-09 charging my card $400! I called both my surgical center and the Dr.'s office (who was as upset as I was). My calls to the surgical center kept going unanswered, and the woman who wrote the letter from there Elizabeth Sczmray from Patient Accounts would not call me back. The Dr.'s office called several times and finally got a hold of the woman who was very rude to them and told them she would call them back. She never did. They tried again and again and finally she did call them changing her story from the 30 min over on the rhino to we used the wrong billing to all different things. She told them she would call me. She did and I told her that it wasn't right and that in this day and age $400 is important to a person and that irrespective of the amount what they did was wrong on principle and that they should refund it. I was very nice and she was extremely rude to me saying things like, ""what is it that you want, what will make you and the Dr. happy?"" I told her I wanted the $400 back and she said she would talk to the owner and call me back. I tried calling her back for 2 weeks every day with messages left and no call back. Finally last week I called upset saying that if she didn't want to call me back I wanted the owner to do so. He did saying he would personally look into it, and I still haven't heard back.\r
The sad thing is that the people that work there helping you after surgery are very nice and the location is convenient, but the stress thereafter by situations like this negates all their efforts. You don't expect good service and a rip off!
Pros: The medical staff is really nice
Cons: All things billing related are a scam & unprofessional
