I've only used this place due to its proximity to my apartment and the fact that they deliver. I know dry cleaners are expensive, but I always feel ripped off, no matter who I go to.
I've gone here three times for tailoring because that is a heck of a lot cheaper than a tailoring store - twice for pants, once for a dress - each time told that, "my tailor has 30 years experience". Well, then she needs a bit more because after measuring my pants, they were both still way too long.
The dress - that was funny - I bring in my dress, get the 30-year experience shpiel, and pick it up a week later. Now, when I brought it in, it was really big - (I had gotten it on sale real cheap, so the tailoring was worth it) - when I tried it on a week later, I could not even button the thing! When I brought it back, they suggested I must have put on weight!
That should have stopped me from going, but no...I just put on the shirt I had dry cleaned last week - the stain is still there (lesson for me - inspect them carefully when I get them) and it, too has shrunk!
I did try a place up the street, Chip's, and they also ruined a pair of pants by shrinking them. (I swear, I am not gaining 10 pounds a week!)
Anyone know of a good UES dry cleaner?
