This small, somewhat grimy venue is essentially a more intimate annex of the legendary First Avenue. Less seasoned (or less famous) bands who aren’t quite ready for the adjacent Mainroom can be found here most nights, and the cover charge tends to be downsized accordingly. While it’s easy to characterize the Entry as an inferior stepchild to its big-daddy destination next door, the sound and sightlines are actually quite good Even high-profile locals who could fill bigger rooms are known to book a gig here now and then, if only to keep their indie/punk credibility intact. Note: The close quarters and high volume make it a poor choice for friends who like to chat during the show.
