How do they stay in business? 2/28/2010

This is by far the worst 7-Eleven I have ever stepped foot in, and I've lived in one of the worst neighborhoods in Long Beach (who's stores even puts this one to shame)! Manjit the owner, is extremely rude and does not seem to understand the basic fundamentals of customer service. At first I thought maybe he did not like me, but I noticed his equally and obvious un-biased hatred of all his customers. I have witnessed him on multiple occasions scolding his employees, demeriting them and telling them he is going to deduct money out of their paychecks because of things like beer runs and common theft happening. On one occasion I overheard him, while waiting to check out at the register, telling an employee that he was going to deduct money out of their paychecks for ""for the fees he received when multiple times they ran credit cards & debit cards without the balance being above $5"". That is just one of many things I have seen happen there. Besides the terrible customer service, Manjit has made sure to boost up prices as high as, I'm guessing the local law allows (of course, if not, then beyond that). EVERYTHING in the store is priced extremely high compared to any place I have been in this town. Even the convenience stores down town, who more than likely have astronomical rental & insurance prices, have better prices than this 7-Eleven location. Any example of these prices; the price of camel filters and marlboro red brand cigarettes is $6.54 before taxes. Two blocks away at Towners Conoco, they are $5.75 before taxes. Refills on sodas cost only about 10 cents less than buying a brand new one (I guess he didn't catch the principles of sales of volume anywhere at any time). Bread & Milk prices are ridiculous! Bread and milk are a COMMON weapon with convenience stores to get people to come in, and usually are priced at market value or a bit above, making it very fair and a good practice in my opinion for these stores to practice. But Mr. Manjit does not. These are only a few examples, and I would be more than happy to elaborate on my dislike of this store. There was one particular time with this store that made me really bitter and it defiantly adds to the list of reasons I hate that store. I begged and pleaded to be able to use my debit card to get a dollar for the bus, I was going to an interview and was running late. I asked if I could buy a pack of gum and get a dollar cash back, I didn't have more than $5 in my account and he absolutely WOULD NOT DO IT. I told him I would come back and give him the cost of the fee to run my card, but he refused and pointed me towards the ATM machine. Luckily I was able to get The Super C store a few blocks away to do it, and THEY DON'T EVEN DO CASH BACK AT ALL! I made it to the interview and got the job. NOT THANKS AT ALL TO MANJIT OR THIS 7-ELEVEN STORE! P.S. The employees there ARE awesome and friendly! It is just Manjit that makes the place poor. Pros: Open 24/7 Cons: Gougers, Poor Customer Service, Embarasses Employees Openly more
