I'm so glad that I tried this place for Sunday BRUNCH! First, the live jazz was just absolutely wonderful! The musicians created a relaxing, sophisticated ambiance. The restaurant...

Overall I feel 75 Chestnut has become just another average place. There is nothing really special about it, or anything to make it stand out in my mind anymore. The food wasn't ba...

An excellent dinner! 2/28/2003

Dined at 75 Chestnut Last week and although I've always found it to be a superior restaurant, they surpassed themselves on my latest visit. We shared the stuffed quail (one of my favorites), and it was excellent. The salad was crisp and fresh and was not drowned in dressing. My entree, (House Aged Long Island Duck) was tender and I've never had skin so crispy, offered interesting and complex flavors and was thoroughly enjoyable. Service was prompt and friendly and the waiter offered very good advice on wine selection. Overall a very enjoyable evening. more

Step Aside Escoffier!!! 2/17/2003

After eating at incredible restaurants all throughout Europe, Asia, and the US I have to say that nothing compares to the wonderful ambience and culinary delights of 75 Chestnut. Every single dish is expertly prepared and the staff is absolutely world class. 75 Chestnut deserves six stars! Pros: Everything more

She'll say yes! 2/11/2003

15 successful marrige proposals last year alone, I was told, and it's no wonder, the place is as intimate and cozy as it gets, without one having to to spend a weeks wages for FANTASTIC food. The bar is filled local professionals, making 75 Chestnut a haven away from the bridge and tunnel crowd roaming the citys more apparent locals. Alas, Frank is no longer there serving up his own brand of wisdom along side martinis, but all wierd things must come to and end! more

The Eden of Restaurants 2/10/2003

My wife and I visited 75 Chestnut on Febuary 9/2003. The dining room was lovely, the service impeccible, the view was nice. But who cares about all that when- the food was absolutely exquisite!!! Each course outdid the last, the food so fresh, so delicous, so heavenly. We found ourselves looking at each other with each bite, a rapturous expression in our eyes. Chef Heath manages to distill the essence of each dish- we had the herbed clam and shrinp chowder (just a little palate cleanser) but we felt as if we had discovered the flavour of clams and shrimp for the very first time) So hard to explain... Go see for yourself, it is an experience you will never forget!! more

An absolute gem 2/5/2003

Obvious attention to detail is the hallmark of this tiny, romantic Beacon Hill spot. The service was meticulous, and the food was nothing short of perfect. A great spot for a date with someone you really care about. 75 Chestnut makes me remember why I love Boston! more

Absolutely Phenomenal 2/4/2003

Went to 75 Chestnut w/ 5 girl friends for our monthly dinner, and it was beyond incredible. Every appetizer and entree we chose was beyond delicious. From the filet mignon, Oh so Succulent, to the Atlantic salmon and the heavenly duck! Let's not discuss the Foie gras with a baked apple. As one of my dearest and conservative girlfriends said, ""It's absolutely orgasmic"". We all shared in the bounty presented by the chef. The staff is very easy going, attentive, friendly and shared in our delight. Especially the maitre d', Jim Patrick. What a great guy! Since he saw that we were having a celebration. He was regardful to our every need. Pros: everything Cons: what cons? more

GASTRONOMIC EPICENTER 1/21/2003

There is no other restaurant of which I am aware that better showcases the ingenious creativity of its kitchen in using what, after all, are rather simple components to create a symphony of flavors which explode in your mouth. The wines are always superb matches. I have taken even jaded New Yorkers there on several occasions and they have uniformly agreed that 75 Chestnut is very special. Pros: delightful food, impeccable staff, romantic ambience more

Gem of the Northeast 11/19/2002

75 Chestnut provides a very special setting and menu for those who want to experience the finer things in life. Chef Michael Heath is a master of gastronomic bliss, who has tranformed 75 Chestnut from the ""Hidden Jewel of Beacon Hill"" to a true ""Gem of the Northeast"". The Filet Mignon brought me to tears with the apple-smoked bacon and Roquefort pouring out of the center. The dessert are equally sinful the choclate bread pudding some who say is better than sex. To the point you have not lived till you've dined at 75 Chestnut. Pros: food to die for, great service, courteous staff more

dark and dreamy for a date 8/28/2002

A Hidden Jewel 8/18/2002

Very underated. Everything was fantastic. From the food to the service. I couldn't of been more pleased. If you haven't been, then you must go. Just one thing the wine list was a little short. more

This is why I never eat out in Boston... 8/15/2002

Lousy. Filet mignon was marginal with unappetizing, overcooked side dishes. Halibut was way overcooked. At least the wine was good and my G&T contained alcohol (a novelty in Boston). Let's not mention the large bill. Please don't make me go back here. Ever. Pros: Drinks contain CH3OH Cons: Expensive, Bad Food more

The best. 8/3/2002

My favorite restaurant in Boston, hands down. Perfect for a special evening with a date. The food is great, the service is accomodating and the location and atmosphere couldn't be better. This place is worth the price, and gets a unqualified recommendation. Pros: romanit, perfect date, good wine list Cons: expensive more
