Top Notch! 6/21/2011

There had been no interest in the coin collection by my kids so I decided to take it to to see what they would give me as they are silver buyers. There were around 75 to 100 silver US coins of various denominations. It took the appraiser about an hour to come up with an offer of almost 800.00 for the collection. I was one happy guy. Sorry kids but you were not interested. I guess I will use the cash to buy the a video game or something. more

I had a great time. 6/15/2011

I was at a yard sale with my husband and he brought my attention to this box of costume jewelry and watches. There were so many pieces I decided to offer the owner one price for the box. I asked her how much she wanted and we settled for 35.00. I had a great time looking through it but I only found one piece that I really wanted. I took the whole box to 5th Ave Jewelers and let them make me an offer as I heard that they were the place to sell jewelry. They found four ladies watches that were worth 300.00 for all three. They found a gold and ruby pin that was worth 90.00 and a charm bracelet that was mostly gold that was worth 250.00. That was 460.00 for just those pieces and they were not done. They found another 200.00 in the costume pieces. That was 860.00 for a 35.00 investment. I actually felt so guilty we went back and paid the lady another 250.00. She was floored and we were all happy. more

Of course sold to the highest. 6/9/2011

I had been accumulating old scrap gold and gold jewelry for years as a form of forced savings. When gold prices hit 1200.00 I decided it was time to cash it in. I went to several different places to get a price including one of these gold buying traveling shows. The prices ranged from 750.00 to 1900.00 for the gold that I had. The highest price was from 5th Ave Jewelers. I could not believe the different prices I got. The traveling show was the lowest and I of course sold to the highest; 5th Ave Jewelers. more
