Blind leading the blind 3/26/2009

From the minute I walked into the new building with all the doors flung open, I knew I should have left immediately. But I needed contacts and had waited weeks to get an appointment. The receptionist could not explain the medical release form I was given to sign. She just told me to read it and sign it and glared at me when she finally admitted she had never read any of the forms, she was new. I then got to sit in the waiting room for 30 minutes listening to the receptionist chew on workers over the phone about problems with the building. I pitied the workers she was talking to. From there I was escorted to a small closed exam room that was about 98 degrees. With all the outside doors open, the heater was blasting non-stop in the closed office. I sat in a chair that was too small and sweated until the doctor came in, pointed to a scar on my hand and asked if I was contagious. I waited for her to laugh thinking it was a joke, but she was serious and proceeded to tell me they would have to disinfect everything I touched if I was. I only wanted a renewal prescription for a magnification contact which I had been wearing for 10 years, but the doctor acted like I must have lied when I called for the appointment because her information said I wanted glasses. The nurse gave me a lens that was the wrong magnification, I tried it on, told them I didn't like it and the doctor told me to throw it away. Another 45 minutes left in the oven of a room (yes, I asked for them to let me out) and I was then checked out by someone that looked like she was still in Grapevine High. The only reason I went to the office was because they were listed as an EyeMed provider, but they charged me more than I had paid optometrists when I did not have insurance. I called my insurance company as soon as I was out of the office and was told everything should have been covered by the co-pay and they should have ordered my contacts which would be free under the insurance. Now I'm faced with recovering the money they charged me for procedures they didn't do and I had to spend another hour and half with the insurance company to get them to remove the hold on my benefits because the optometrist said they ordered my contacts. I encourage you not to go to this place and tell your friends about the horrible experience I had. Pros: close to my house Cons: unfriendly, inexperienced staff and rude doctor more
