A zoo in the middle of the desert. It showcases animals that are native to the desert like mountain lions, hawks, critters, deer and javalina. You can look at mineral specimens, explore cave exhibits, see a show in the amphitheater, tour the desert garden and learn about insects. Almost every visitor who come to Tucson chooses to go here and are never let down. It was opened in the 50s and is the primary place to find out about the Sonoran Desert. It is like a zoo, and mostly outside so it may be wise to avoid it during the day when it is hot. They do have summer programs where you can go at night.
